I haven't tried theirs, but since you said you're still looking for a good one, I'd recommend Bert's; it had a very nice throw for me in my 50/50, not bitter, and not an odd scent, which some grapefruit has to my nose...

Brenda, I have to dig out the Sea Glass, I am almost positive I have that sample, and I don't remember what it smells like... I'm glad you're finding some keepers, like I said, she's worth trying...she's got some great oil...the Peanut Butter Crunch is to DIE for, IMO!!!

I used to blend a paraffin and a 50/50, just to get a cleaner burn (I know this isn't what you said you wanted to do) but after awhile, it was so not worth the effort. I tried the 50/50 on it's own, had a better throw, look, finish, everything, and I've never looked back. (until recently that is, to compare prices all over the place! But I think most of us are looking at that factor, where we didn't always have to before... )

I have some reviews of some new oils of Bert's for folks who might use a 50/50 blend. These were all poured at 9%, zinc wicks. I will specify the cure times as I mention an oil, some I've poured awhile ago and have cured well, some are new pours... Rosemary Verbena- Spicy rosemary well rounded by the verbena...threw very well with no cure, awesome throw after a few weeks, a great kitchen scent! Very herbal! Cinnamon- Medium/strong throw, after 2 weeks cure...a good non-bakery cinnamon, not too too hot... Aspen Forest- I renamed this one to Citrus Grove. It is a wonderful, complex scent that I love. I definately smell citrus and it's a very clean citrus, mixed with subtle notes of pine, all in all a very interesting scent. I got a med/strong throw after 2 weeks cure. Cinnamon Vanilla- Good throw, just not a great one for me. I liked this one better OOB. Honey Spice Cake-Another one I liked better OOB, but I may like this one better in a tart. Med/strong throw. Vanilla Lemon Drops- I didn't think I'd like this one when I added it to the wax, but when I lit it, it smelled much better. The vanilla comes out a lot more than the lemon, IMO. Strong throw. Honeydew Melon-Strong, clean honeydew. Threw great after no cure at all! Fresh Melon-Not a sweet candy melon, fresh and almost green, I liked it ok, threw well after no cure for me. Jasmine Tea-I liked this ok for a floral, I am also not a floral person, but I think the tea helps out, although it is predominently most definately a Jasmine scent. Great throw, no cure. Peanut Butter Crunch-Oh my goodness, I am lovin' this one! 1 day cure, awesome throw for me, and what a yummy scent! The first thought that came to mind for me was buttery. It is more peanut OOB, but warm, sweet and buttery when burning, a keeper for me! Strawberries and Champagne(not a new oil, just got to pouring it)-Very very nice, a very good version of this, had a decent early throw, I'll cure it a few more days, but it's a good scent. Fresh Pear-Similar to her Christmas/Spiced Pear, maybe more fresh. less spicy. Had a great throw early... Grapefruit-(again, not a new oil, but one I wanted to test, have a bestest friend who loves grapefruit!) very nice, med/strong throw, not bitter, I got no fuel at 9% Hope this helps some folks. I am still loving Bert's oils. There are some great finds and definately a lot worth testing for the price! :smiley2:

Same as Waxwench, I don't know about a Yank dupe, but I love Farmhouse's Honeydew Melon, I've used it for over 2 yrs., and it's consistantly a favorite, GREAT throw in my 50/50!

In what ways? Throw, adhesion? Do you use a straight soy or a blend?

JS used to have a Dirty Martini which I am guessing is more booze/olive scented...I have a friend who drinks them, or else I'd have no idea what the heck they were! You could see if she's still carrying it?

I'm pretty sure JS has a Toasted Hazelnut... I'm not big on that scent in general but OOB it smelled true...:smiley2:

Question: Has anyone tried using a 50/50 wax designed for votives/tarts to fill a container?? I am burning some votives I just poured w/ KY's 50/50 tart/votive wax, and they are smelling SO damn good, this idea crossed my mind, and I thought I'd ask...

HOW do suppliers like this stay in business?? Do the sale of the colorants alone keep them going???? Well CB, you're prolly on right track about their oils, seems like maybe the Kiwi Kicker's been out for quite awhile if the fact that their version isn't even listed on the FF means anything... SW has this and I think this is where Sandi (sandissoap) gets hers from...suprisingly a lb isn't too scary, lol!...maybe I can jump in on her next order, save on shipping...hopefully it will perform the same way!! Thanks everyone on your input here, what a way to run a business, guess the customer NEVER comes first... Candybee, fortunately for you, you seem like one of the few exceptions! :smiley2:

Thanks Tereasa, that's what I am thinking, who needs the aggravation... It's a very juicy kiwi, but has something more to it, hard to describe...it has a kick ass throw to it, and I hope to find something as close to it as possible, folks have gone ga-ga over it! May just have to check out the FF, see what I can come up w/... I was hoping to find someone who uses one and can give me a ballpark on the throw potential...

OK, so I guess I could take a chance and see if PA is one of their preferred states :rolleyes2 and then hope that the Kiwi Kicker comes back in stock soon... or look for a replacement...soooo, any ideas as to a great one that throws in so or at least 50/50???

I got 8 oz of Tradewinds Kiwi Kicker from a friend and it ROCKS in my 50/50 container and tart waxes, and is already VERY popular...it IS a terrific scent-well, after doing a search here on their company, and maybe picking up some hints on a few more must-trys, I am reading a LOT of negative reviews regarding their lousy customer service. These posts go back to the last 1/3 of last yr. but there are folks that had posted about a long history of poor CS w/ this company, and who've dropped them altogether as a FO supplier... SO-now I am wondering if I should even get involved with them at all, or try and find an alternative oil, and cross fingers that'll be as good and perform as well for me as theirs... (I may have to anyway, as this oil is listed OOS on their site...)

I almost rememeber ICS discontinuing this one, although I could be way wrong. I do know that it was not new to them, I ordered it a long while back... you could e-mail them, they're very professional and nice to deal with.

Love their Apple Clover, and just poured their Ginger Bergamot last night which is very pretty...wish they were closer to me, shipping is a killer!

Sharon, they are a clear adhesive seal, they come in a roll with each film pre-cut, the whole film is adhesive, and they stick very well. They aren't a thin film, they are crisp and durable, they hold in scent, but my customers say they can still get whiffs of the jar they're sniffing...I find them very useful...I use the small square ones for the Dollar General square Libby jars, I snip each corner in and then fold the sides down nice and neat! I think Grama recommended them in a post I did about the Libby jars, they're a good find!:smiley2:

Hi! I have a bottle of Vermont Maple Syrup from Wildfire Creations to try out, smells great OOB...I tried BW Sugar Maple, and although it smelled awesome and true, I found it to be a bit weak in my tarts...and I use a big ole butt load of oil in 'em...:undecided

Hi Brenda! Glad to see you took the plunge...I don't think you'll be disappointed! I poured her Rosemary Verbena over the weekend and got an awesome throw after a day's cure, I poured it at 8.5 % and din't have to wick up, got an awesome throw...it makes a great kitchen jar, and I think it would make a great kitchen soap too! HTH! ETA: I use a 50/50 blend...
