  1. Well hello Southern Crafter :highfive: I am so glad to see you here. You will love it, there are so many new ideas and helpful and friendly people. The roses with the wax look great in the soap! MissMary and CareBear and so many others are really helpful. You can put your website link in your signature if you want to.
  2. You don't happen to use Dawn do you? My Mom's hands break out from Dawn detergent. It takes all the oils out of her hands. Anything else she can use.
  3. I have not tried it in soap, but in oil paints I do this sometimes to get brown. Mix yellow and blue to get green then mix green and red to get brown. Or just mix green and red. Good luck.

  5. If it's the scents that I am thinking I went to the site and was excitied about ordering some 16 ozs fragrances, but I didn't see any that were soap safe. They were all for candles.
  6. I guess it depends on the scent used then because none of mine have turned even an off white. They are still as white as they were before mixing in fragrance. I might add some color to some of mine to match the scents.
  7. A friend of mine uses it in her soap, this is from her website. She just cuts open the stems and scrapes the gel out. 8. I just ordered my fourth gallon of it. I have scented it with a lot of different fragrances. None have turned colors on me. I have used Warm Vanilla Sugar and it stayed white, it's been months now. (Since December).
  9. I was going to post that I had my fingers crossed for you, but I see that I am to late. I am impatient also, so I put my pot of warm oils and lye water in a bath of ice water (ice cubes and all). They cool down pretty fast.
  10. I made salt bars that failed..... I am now making a salt/soap scrub. My question is.... do I add the presertive for the amount of oils I used (2 pounds) or do I use it for what the batch weighs now (8 pounds)? I Added a lot more salt. **Edit - I meant to say question about salt scrubs not sugar scrubs.
  11. I can see it now, very nice and I bet is smells yummy.
  12. Well shoot, all I can see is red x's
  13. If 80 would be cut in half to make 24 bars I would still do 56 (3-1/2 lbs). single recipe = 40 ozs double recipe to cut the bars in half = 80 ozs I would do 60 ozs (actually 56 for 3 -1/2 lbs) if they are too thick you could always cut some off the bottom and use to decorate another batch, if you have a miter box or can cut straight. LOL I have to use a miter box. I couldn't cut straight to save my life. :smiley2:
  14. He says to use 38 ounces of oils to produce a 1" thick bar so I would make 3 -1/2 pounds (56 ounces) I have his 20/40 and I wanted thick bars and didn't want to cut them in half either. I made one and a half times the amount for 20 bars and had nice thick bars.
  15. Don't quote me but I think it is 'vanilla stabilizer' I am still trying to figure out what FBB is LOL
  16. I like this calculator, it's the one I use when I make pine tar soap. Just don't make the mistake I did, it gives the minimium water amount and I didn't pay attention to that. I got my soap out of the mold the next morning but it was a job and almost to hard to cut. But it finally came out. If it had been in the mold any longer it would probably still be in there.
  17. It didn't color him LOL but I was concerned about that. He didn't use them on the wash cloth, he used other soap and just played with these. So I don't know if it would color the wash cloth or not. I think they probably would have.
