  1. You can add part candelilla wax in place of about 1/3 the beeswax. That will make it much harder and safer for your pocket!
  2. Probably fine. Although if it is unrefined shea, you will have that smell that you will have to work with! I like it, but some others don't!
  3. For all the more Squalane that is in it, you can drop it and add it to the olive. I may try this but without the Soya Skin Butter. Gonna try making my own Soy butter so that I can choose my own consistency! Can't do anything til those jars get here though!
  4. Here's a site about Squalane http://www.botanicalworks.com/Squalane.htm you could take it out altogether and add the extra onto one of the oils. But IMHO, it's worth it to be in there.
  5. It definately helps too to find out if they will morph and discolor. I have had some that have morphed so bad you throw away soap IN cup in a sealed bag in the trash and take OUT the trash immediately so you don't have to smell it any longer:D
  6. To tell ya the truth... Im switching from 8ozers to 4ozers for that exact reason. Figure they are going to be more willing to pay for the smaller one to TRY it.. then once hooked purchase the bigger one... or at least i HOPE they do!
  7. I'll keep an eye out for them. A 4oz scrub would work. You could also go to a clear jar and use a green lid. Then customers could actually see the product. Just a thought
  8. http://www.essentialsupplies.com/blueplastic.htm they don't have them yet, but will be getting them according to the site.
  9. Lemme look.. I know i saw them somewhere.. now to remember WHERE!
  10. On occasion it can make alot of difference. Most times not though. When I am testing like that, I usually test a bunch at one time. Taking out thin raw soap and adding the FO, then mixing with a mini whisk. It's the only one that will fit in the dixie cup! That will tell you whether it will be a fast tracer and many other things. Most I have ever done at one time was 12! Trust me that is too many!
  11. You can add anything your heart desires... within reason of course! Your OO costs .13 cents per oz
  12. Here's one.. although I haven't ever tried it before. http://www.wisterialane.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=205
  13. Yep.. that's what I do. I band together about 10 of them and then pour with a mini pyrex.
  14. Try SKS. I think they have some. Edited to fix spelling error!
  15. IMHO, I think they are just FINE! That Cocoa Butter one looks so elegant.. I love that plain rich look to it. More than likely the what the heck is it, is colorant that didn't mix in well.
  16. Recipe looks fine. Did it gel? I'd give it another 8-12 hours to see if it hardens up. Can you post a pic? When in doubt, wait it out.
  17. I lurve my Kelsei's! I no longer have to line or cut. I have one wooden log mold for any soaps that I layer. Other than that I have my kelsei's!
  18. I have made 100% lard soap. I unmold 8 -10 hours after pouring and cut asap. Otherwise it will crumble when you cut it. 100% castille for me a minimum of 30 hours before i can unmold. Then it's still soft enough to cut after a couple of days. Now that i use Kelsei molds, i don't have to worry bout cutting!
  19. Sounds like it will be fine. Leave it in the mold for awhile longer. Mebbe try unmolding tomorrow.
  20. I have 3-9bar Kelsei's and 1-18 bar. I much prefer the 9bar over the 18. This way I can make 3 smaller batches of regular soaps and 1 larger one of the ones that I sell more of! I too suck at cutting a straight bar. I may eventually get one of the log molds. Mainly for layering as it's a bit difficult in the slab molds.
  21. Save the herbs.. just throw the menthol crystals in the tub then jump in! there goes shutter!~
  22. Here's mine, mebbe it will help. 2 c. baking soda 1/2 c.citric acid 1/2 c. epsoms salts .7oz coconut oil (the reg 76 stuff) .5oz. FO coloring--as desired witch hazel-5 sprays or enough to make it feel like damp sand Makes (6)3-4oz fizzies
  23. It could make parts of you tingle. Why not make it and simmer in a pot of water on your stove. Then you would be able to smell it without the tingle!
  24. That is a really pretty spring-like yellow. Just asking though, did you anchor the citrus EOs? Meaning, did you add them to a bit of clay or something to help hold the scent? Most times with citrus EOs, they smell great for the first couple of months then start to fade away.
