  1. I too would agree with Robin. Way too much butter. Reduce down to 5-10% each. Then add some coconut or PKO or both and some lard. Try not to go over 25% when using the Coconut and/or PKO. Alot of people can't handle it over that %. Mebbe try something like: 35% Lard or Palm 20% Olive 15% PKO 10% Coconut 10% Shea 10% Almond
  2. They both have their strong points. I have the silk fibers, but don't use them too often. I use the liquid because I soap 100% milk and my lye/milk never gets hot enough to melt it. I like the fact that I can buy 1 product to do more than 1 thing. I use the liquid silk in my lotions and creams as well.
  3. Actually, Plantain is an herb so to speak. I have it & chickweed that grows profusely in my yard. Here's some info on it:
  4. Thanks everyone.. as for the swirling... I pour the main batch into the mold. With some of the colored portion from about 2ft high from the mold I drizzle lines. Come down about a ft and drizzle the opposite direction. Come down close for whatever is left in the pyrex cup to drizzle on the top. Then i take my handy dandy mini whisk and swirl up and down then side to side. Throw in my dividers and toss it in the warmed oven.
  5. I too have tried the holy grail and while it is nice, I much prefer a denser version.
  6. Most times that will absorb back into your soap.
  7. Looking forward to your pictures. I always sneak mine into the shower early...:rolleyes2 I usually unmold & let it harden a day and off i go! BUT my recipe is 75% hard oils and a 33% solution.
  8. I don't have JB from Peaks, but any JB that I have worked with has cruised pretty quickly. One thing you DON'T wanna do is discount your liquid. One thing you MAY want to do, is add your FO to your oils BEFORE you add your lye water. That will give you a bit more playtime. HTH
  9. uncolored natural works for me. I use translucent tubes as well.
  10. This is what you call BAD KARMA!!! I even added my FO to the oils PRIOR to the lye to get a bit more playtime. I knew it would react fast, but MAN i did NOT think it would come out looking like THAT! FYI: It still looks like that til I feel like messing with it!
  11. That's pretty.. I love hempseed oil. I have done up to 25% without any problems.
  12. AFAIK, It won't survive the lye. You won't get any scent from it.
  13. Hi Glo! I've been a member/lurker here for quite some time. Been playing with wax for quite some time now! ONE day I may learn to make candles. :rolleyes2
  14. http://www.theherbarie.com/LiproSilk-pr-81.html 1#= $23.25
  15. Here's one that may be useful to you. http://www.sfherb.com/herbs-spices-botanicals.asp They are on your side of the US. I use Atlantic Spice cause they are on my side!:smiley2:
  16. That is nice. Even if it doesn't come back the way you want, it's a very pretty soap. It's soft and subtle.
  17. It's not a blend, it's an EO. AFAIK at least.
  18. It smells gingery, and earthy and lemony all at once scent. That is a 30oz batch, so I used 2oz of EO. I didn't get mine from MMS though. I got it through a CoOp.
  19. You should be able to use it. Only thing is, PAM will saponify! Your best bet if you do wanna use it without lining it is to grease it with a NON veggie oil. One that won't saponify.
  20. Most of my soaps are 100% milk. I soap at RT and most of them I do gel. There are some that no matter what I do, won't gel.. which is fine by me. IMHO, an ungelled soap is creamier, however that may be from the milk. It will also take longer to cure. It will stay softer longer as well. I think it is totally a personal preference whether or not to gel.
  21. Scented with: Gingergrass EO. Colored with: Cyb's Iced Lemon-base Swirled with: Cyb's Emerald & TD
  22. They are located in Canada so that may be the reason it is so high.
