  1. I have used it in CP soap. Turns a very pale tan which you could probably counteract with a bit of TD. It behaves beautifully with a 33% solution. It is divine in scrubs and soon I will know what it's like in a whipped butter. Haven't tried it in wax yet. But Im pretty new to wax though.
  2. soap egg yolks! They make a really silky feeling lather!
  3. Depends on whether it is liquid GM or powdered. If powdered you can add it to your oils at up to 1 TB per pound of oils. Stickblend in really well before you add your lye water. Oatmeal-grind it up fine and add 1 tsp per pound of oils. You can add that to your oils before the lye or after you add your lye before you hit trace, then add the oatmeal. Honey-I add it to my oils and stick blend in really well before I add my lye milk. HTH
  4. Once i get these, I should be set for awhile at least. That will give me 4-9bar molds and 1-18 bar.
  5. If you try posting in the classifieds that you are looking for some items, mebbe someone has some they are willing to share..
  6. Nope! Don't color my lotions or creams. One less ingredient to worry about and more space on my label. For my scrubs depending on which one it is.. either has color from the coffee grounds or a few jojoba beads. My scrub jars are bigger so I have more label room!
  7. Bohunk is the creator of the original recipe.
  8. Try making a 20oz batch. Most times it will work out to an even number. Too much preservative is just as bad as not enough IMHO.
  9. Mine are on their way as well. I should have them Thursday. Finally I will be able to make more batches at one time!
  10. It may seem that way because of the lack of butters and higher percentage of stearic. Stearic can make it "drag" on the skin. You could use BTMS to offset some of the drag of the stearic. Once you get your butters though, make it again!
  11. Did you use bohunk's or cookiebug's version? When i make my scrub, I always add the same amt of sugar/scrubbies as the oil content.
  12. That looks scrumptious. But I never fill my containers that full...seems at least for me, as they continue to cool down they swell UP!
  13. Haven't personally tried them myself but you would need the SAP for them... Bear Tallow Sap Value: NAOH SAP Value 0.139 KOH SAP Value 0.1946 Dunno on the other 2 ETA: Have you ever rendered tallow? Not to discourage you, but those may REAK when you do them. I don't know as I haven't ever rendered them, just rendered beef tallow and that was enough. I'll buy it first already rendered!
  14. When you find it.. would ya tell me! I am trying to find a more natural that paraffin wax as well. Although I am a newbie to candlemaking. I know what you mean by having 1/2 full jars all over the place!
  15. I am playing with V-1. I have some Millenium Votive wax that I haven't played with yet. I am by no means a seasoned candle maker. I was just wondering which ones you chose and why. If you don't mind me asking that is!. I would prefer something that is veggie but a blend would be fine as well.
  16. Well.. this was a tester blend I did and i do NOT like it at all. There's air bubbles everywhere..as it's burning, more are showing up. I haven't ever had that happen before and since this wax blend isn't playing nice, I will stick with what blend i was doing.
  17. If it doesn't zap, try it now! Only thing is, the longer you let it cure, the harder and more mild it gets. I try mine right after I unmold! It melts alot faster and you can't get a "true" feel of the soap, but it gives you and idea and it can only get better with age.
  18. Do I just add it to the water before I add the lye? You can reconstitute it and use it for your liquid. It's easiest to freeze in ice cubes. When you go to add the lye to it, make sure the container with the frozen GM, is in a COLD water/ICE CUBE bath. Do I mix it in with my oils? You can add up to 1TB per pound of oils. Stickblend in really well before you add your lye water. Does it affect the hardness of the bar, or the amount of lye I need to use for ther recipe? Depending on what you use to superfat (amount of lye) drop it by 1%. Say you are using 5%.. drop it to 4% and use that amount of lye. Would it be better to use liquid goat milk? That is entirely up to you. But it's best to freeze it first and don't let it get too hot.. smells like cat pi$$... you will KNOW if it is too hot! How much should I use for a 2 lb. batch? See above. How's that for some help?:smiley2:
  19. Thanks Chris.. next try will be tapping AND relief holes if necessary!
  20. FBB ingredients: Glycerin, Distilled Water, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate.
  21. Ah ha! So that's the reason to poke relief holes! Thanks you 2. I even poured that sucker slowly, hoping to NOT get them! How many am i supposed to poke? I know these may sound like stupid questions and i know that wick isn't centered either, but I'm still learning!
  22. I zapped this with my heat gun to smooth out the top and that "hole" appeared.
  23. Thanks for the reply. Do you do this for containers as well as votives?
  24. Sweet almond may make it feel a bit greasier. You could also try olive oil. It's great for the skin and not overly $$ when you are testing. Iffin you really wanna play, add a small amount of castor with some of the safflower.
