  1. I don't expect to hear anything after reading the feedback that everyone else has left over the last month. I have sent her 2 messages through the Etsy shop and I will try to send her a certified letter through the mail but otherwise I'm just out the money and product most likely. As I mentioned in my email to him/her on Etsy....just a little communication goes a long way no matter what the situation.
  2. That is what struck me as odd as well. I'm waiting to hear from paypal on this one and hopefully I'll hear something soon. I do now know it was a credit card transfer........But 2 months...????hmmm
  3. None of this was meant to start a discussion on whether or not this is a "private business matter" or not. I was seeking assistance in finding the contact information for the person and I posted here for 2 reasons. The first being they purchased from me off of the classifieds from this forum and the second being all contact information I had for them has come back as being incorrect. Thus, I posted seeking assistance in locating the person so that I could resolve the matter with him/her. Many of us on this forum know each other outside of the forum or have become close friends and thus know each other's contact information. I was wanting/looking for someone who could give me the information that I would need to try to contact them. I appreciate the two PM's that I received giving me the Etsy site. And a little FYI....I"ve contacted them from that store site and am awaiting a reply. So far that email has not come back to me. This is not and was not meant to be a discussion of who is right/wrong in this matter. I understand at times things can come up but when someone will not respond or you cannot reach them, wouldn't you try to seek another way to find them? Due to the purchase being made from this site, this was my first stop in trying to locate them. Unfortunately, this just goes to show that paypal is not a direct transfer or at least it appears that way. If this was a direct transfer it wouldn't have been almost 2 months before I got notified that payment was declined. I understand things come up, but a little communication goes a long way and that's all I was asking for at this point.
  4. I received payment by paypal for what i believe was fragrance oils from Yancey candles. This person would have bought these off of the classifieds here. Now paypal is holding funds telling me that the payment I got on June 19 was NSF from this person. I have tried contacting them by the email that was on file with paypal but the email came back. I'd like to know if maybe this person cancelled payment, is in the middle of a dispute or what is going on but cannot find out. If you are this person or know this person, please tell them to get with me on PM or by email. Thanks. I'd really like to know what is going on and I surely hope this is a simple mistake and not purposely done. I have a mailing address and am wondering if I should try it. It's listed as: 7413 pine ridge drive evansville, IN 47712 United States
  5. I have received several emails like that inquiring about candles. I refer them to my website yet they always come back with how much for X number of this? DUH....not to sound rude but it's all listed. I even had a few people go as far as to give me a SS number, credit card number, address, name, phone, references, etc. He kept saying to process the cards and give him an authorization number ASAP. But I still felt it was a bad deal so I said my CC processor is needing to know the name of the bank which the CC is issued. They said Citi Bank. When I called Citi bank, Citi bank had no record of the name nor card number. They couldn't verify much for me but I said I just need to verify that a number matches the name. They said no such CC number exists in their system. Same thing happened with a Wells Fargo account last week. I always call before processing large orders particularly those out of state because you never know. Besides, I feel a true customer would appreciate you checking to make sure they CC was legit. So, basically all I'm saying is who cares what she does with the product IF you get legit payment but in the same respect, follow your instinct and if you think it's a scam double check all forms of payment.
  6. Really depends on your market and your area. This may be one of those items you may want to reconsider carrying because you won't be able to price it in the range where you would like.
  7. General rule of thumb....2 to 2.5 times cost for wholesale and 3-4 times cost for retail depending on location. In this case 1.73 * 2 = 3.46 1.73 *3 = 5.19 I think you are cutting yourself a little short personally. Personally if that was my costs I'd do 3.50 wholesale and 5.25 retail or something like that. All up to you and what your market can bear.
  8. Just a thought but for picture size why not try contacting the host of your website. I know you mentioned who it was but I haven't gone back to look. For example, I use Designer 218 and they are very helpful if I have any questions. You may see what you can come up with by asking if there is a way to increase image size.
  9. Hi, I also checked out your site but only briefly. The one suggestion I can make is that your site seems too wordy. Maybe make the pictures bigger as they seem small. Nice presentation overall but I think if you put larger pictures and maybe make pages for your facts about soy. Make your product the center of attention on your site. Just another thing to take not of too....a dot net website usually will have less traffic or so I learned from my own experience. Most commonly people search for dot com so when passing out cards, etc you may just say check me out at....pureblisscandles dot NET so that you also verbally emphasize it. Give it a little time too as word of mouth is the best advertisement. That and right now people just are not buying like they were this time last year. Heads up and good luck!
  10. Word of advise........get EVERYTHING in writing BEFORE you fill any order! Get your money in full before shipping. After being burned once I make sure everything is in writing and that all is agreed upon before an order is made. Payment must be made when delivered. If shipping then I require payment before I will ship any item. On first orders I also require that half down be paid when order is made.
  11. IF I decide to sell to them I wouldn't intend to be doing the candle business anymore. Would spend that time focusing on family.
  12. I've been selling my inventory at greatly reduced prices in order to make room for a nursery in my home. I have been contacted by another company who recently bought out some other small candle businesses in the area (3 to be exact) and they are wanting to purchase my business and it's inventory. They are an LLC in the general area. They said to sit down and give them an actual number and negotiations could start with them willing to pay the contract/selling fees. I've never sold a business before so how do you figure out what your business is worth. I can say that I'm at a 3000 dollar loss this year after you include supplies I've ordered, legal fees, travel, etc versus income I've received. I have several wholesale accounts but at the time their orders are just trickling in slowly and not in mass quantity like before. My website generates orders from all over the United States. They want to purchase my rights to the business, my inventory, everything. I don't know how to figure a price for the business. Do I figure my costs over the last 2 years, go by the cost of what my inventory is, or what? I've already explained to them that I have several thousands of dollars invested but they said that is fine. Anyone willing to offer advise on how to come up with a number that won't be cutting my throat. The only reason I'm even considering selling is due to slow sales and the fact that I probably won't be doing too much candle work once the baby comes. That and with this pregnancy I can't stand to smell most of my scents much less make a product with them. I'd like to at least get enough from the sale to make it worth my time to figure up everything. Anyone help? I won't be around until this afternoon to check the replies as my daughter has swim lessons in thirty minutes. I'll check them when I get back though. Thanks everyone.
  13. Wax is on the constant increase it seems. I bought IGI 6006 in Feb for 64.00 or so for 60 pounds. On June 8th it was $80.40 per 60 lb case and now it's 84.60 per 60 pound case. I don't know if it keeps going up if I will even be able to stay in business as everyone is slowing their buying habits on candles now including my wholesale accounts........sigh
  14. For my soy stuff (in TX as well), I simply state "To avoid product melting, do not leave in direct sunlight, automobiles or expose to high temperatures." If you feel you need further explaination you can say "......expose to temps above 70 or 75 degrees." I say this as most homes in TX have AC and the AC is set between those numbers so in those ranges most items won't melt.
  15. A cookoff team wants to use my products for a fundraiser. They are interested in buying my current inventory but they do not have a tax id. They would be buying to resell. Who collects the taxes in this case? Are they to report this or am I to collect it from them on the amount they pay me? I'm assuming they are responsible for paying the taxes but I may be wrong. Please clarify if you know. I am located in TX if that helps. Thanks.
  16. I'm looking for someone who makes soap and lotions as well as maybe sugar scrubs. I'd like to purchase some for resale. I was planning to start making my own and I did make a few soaps just haven't had the time to thoroughly test everything (meaning every fragrance I have that is B& B safe) and thus I don't feel comfortable selling just yet. On top of that now with a baby on the way I don't see that happening. I have a show coming up the end of July and they are expecting me to have soaps and other B&B products there as I listed that most likely I would. If anyone sells these items wholesale and would be willing to sell some to me, let me know. Thanks so much!
  17. My 8 oz jj go for $8 and my 16 oz JJ go for 13.95. However, since I have a huge inventory of both at the moment I've reduced my pricing to barely above wholesale in order to get rid of inventory and make room for a nursery. So, my in stock products (IN STOCK ONLY) are as follows: 8 oz JJ are 6.50 each or 2 for $11 16 oz JJ are 8.00 Once the ones in stock are gone though they are gone and then I will be doing apothecary jars only.
  18. What can you write off for taxes when it comes to credit card processing? Is it the transaction fee or the monthly fee? I'm assuming it's the monthly fee or "rental" that you pay but what about the per transaction and % fees? i wouldn't think they are able to be written off but hey if they are that would be nice.
  19. Make sure you get paid upfront swhen she places her huge order!! Make sure the check clears.. I second this!!! Don't get burned. Sounds like she is wanting you to do this so she can sell as a private label. I'd ask upfront why she doesn't want labels on them and explain your guidelines for this (ie: your warning label will have your information and must remain in tact or if at any time it doesn't then you wont' sell to her, etc...whatever you see fit). I'd get EVERYTHING in writing as well so that there are no questions and actually I would NOT accept checks PERIOD on first orders. I make a good history be established first!! Otherwise, credit card, cash, cashier check or money order.
  20. I keep getting emails from them to purchase 250 business cards (or similar emails) and I just delete them. I'd rather do business with a local company than someone I have to watch. Never been real thrilled with buying such products online anyway.
  21. I find these to be a fix it and forget it type of thing. I often put these in the container to "absorb" the oil and swell up and then I go run an errand or two and when I come home I can put them into a jar and label them. I don't have to babysit the container because there is no risk of fire or anything. Easy and fast but not a really good seller yet for me.
  22. Are you sure that is something that is a paypal issue or could it be an issue with your shopping cart or check out system? May be something worth looking into.
  23. I'm with ya on that one.............sales have been steadily declining here too and yet I'm finding myself having to raise my prices. My wholesale accounts are buying but it's taking a while for them to move what is on their shelves. My big seller is aroma ornies though and with those being under 4.00 most people will buy one if interested.
  24. After doing an evaluation of my prices and my product costs, I've found that in the last year, my wax has gone up 18 dollars a case but my prices have just about stayed the same. Granted, I've had clearance sales and such here and there but they have mostly stayed the same. Unfortunately, I'm having to notify my wholesale providers that my pricing is going to have to increase to cover the price of wax and supplies. I've never had to go up on my pricing and I feel bad about it because of the percentage that I'm having to go up. My 8 ounce candles for example will go from wholesaling at 4 dollars up to 5.25 just so I can get my cost x 2 from these. When it comes to my tea lights it's almost not even worth it for me to make them and if my sales do not pick up on those I will be discontinuing those. Thankfully I have my retail prices on most items priced about in the range where they need to be to still have me making a substantial profit from my sales. Maybe not always a x3 profit but fairly close.....what the market here can stand anyway. I am lucky though I suppose because I have 2 cases of votive wax and a case and a half of my container wax still so I won't have to purchase wax just yet. But, I've already announced it on my website that prices go up July 1. This way I have the money when it comes time to purchase more supplies. I hate having to do this but I suppose it's been on the horizon for a while now. All my wholesale accounts loved my reasonable pricing but now I"m afraid I may lose a few accounts. We shall see I suppose. I'm going to send a notice to all of them today or in the next few days concerning the price increase so they will be prepared. Also maybe that will stimulate them to make a purchase and bring me in some income now............wait and see. Everyone is blaming the rising prices on the price of GAS....I'm sorry but I have to call BS on that one. Hubby works in refineries and there isn't a shortage of gas as we often hear on the news. OPEC is controlling the market and what it boils down to is someone doesn't want to let go of what they have because it benefits their pocket book more to hold onto it and charge higher prices. Particularly Diesel.....Diesel is a by product......fairly inexpensive to produce so why is it higher than gasoline and thus causing our shipping prices to go up as well as our grocery bill and everything else..............what is the US coming to?......never mind LOL I don't think I want to answer that. Sorry for my last little bit of rant on this....................I just had to fill up a diesel truck and it was rediculous!!!!!1
