  1. Just called Target........they said to bring it in as I have my receipt and they will default it out and send it back. So here we go with another trip to the store LOL. Thanks everyone for responding..........My first thought was to call Lexmark as I didn't think Target would take it back.
  2. Would Target even take these back? I know it may be considered "electronic" so they may not. Bout to make some phone calls. I tried the cleaning and all the stuff on the troubleshooting checklist and no result. I just want to scream right about now .........throwing my whole production schedule off.
  3. I have a Lexmark X1185 and it takes numbers 17 and 27 for ink. I ran out of colored ink so I went to Target and bought the pack that has both 17 and 27 in it. Came home replaced the colored one and now EVERYTHING prints a greenish color. I tried the cartridge cleaning and did a test print using my software. The test print came up with every color showing except RED. Even the alignment shows NO red where there should be RED yet there is blue and yellow. Even on the test print it's this way. I've had this happen with a HP printer in the past and it was the ink and they sent another cartridge but this really stinks when I have a large order to fill. Anyone had this happen or have suggestions I can try before calling Lexmark in the morning? TIA
  4. Don't quote me on this but I don't think you have to get them *approved* BUT....you must label them and list the ingredients. http://www.bittercreeksouth.com/bath_body.htm The above link gives information on some labeling requirements from the FDA. HTH
  5. I agree here with this........sometimes there is only so much you can do and if they don't listen then hey, you told them so. So people are just stubborn like that......LOL I know because I have a family full of them (that's why I've given up trying to say anything............I'm always wrong until I'm proven right). And it's best if you are selling in the store as well that if you want to continue to do so w/o looking like the nagging competitor then you let it go. And if you are friends with the owner, that's grounds for an argument or something later down the road. BUT, in the end, the final choice of what to do is yours although there may not be much you CAN do.
  6. Do the owners of this store know that even though they are consigning these products that if one of the candles is proved faulty and the cause of a housefire that not only can the person whose home burned sue the maker of the candle, but also the place they bought it? May bring that up somehow too.
  7. Those of you who handle 16 ounce mason jars or jelly jars in your product line, what is your selling cost on these? When I figure up my selling cost based upon my nicer zinc lids, etc it seems a bit high for that size candle considering they can purchase 2 of my 8 ounce for less. Of course this is based on 2 times for wholesale and 3 times cost for retail. TIA
  8. Well, a 12 tunnelled and never gave a good melt pool. I thought a 12 was large to start with too but was referred to a 12 by BCS tech support based upon the wax that I was using. I"m using IGI 4614A (formerly 2275) if that helps. I'm still going to test with different sizes when I get the sampler pack in until I find one that will work for what I need. I knew it would be hard to wick because of the shape and lol if it was larger I'd double wick it. But, try, try again and eventually I'll find what works well w/o burning too fast, tunneling or burning too hot.
  9. Well, in addition to wax, be prepared for higher shipping too. Just saw on yahoo today that in May stamps are going up again for first class mail.
  10. Thanks, I've ordered a CD sampler pack and it should be here tomorrow. I'm surprised such a small thing takes such a large wick but I assume because of the shape it's a wicker upper lol.
  11. NOPE, the Texas Conference information shows quote "The Texas Candlemaker's Conference 2007-2008 will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin, Texas. "
  12. I use CD12 for almost ALL my creations with the exception of one or two that use a CD18. Because of that, I don't normally have a wide variety of wicks on hand. Everyone is different i suppose.
  13. It is a pillar shaped Texas, yes, but it is small like the height of a votive. BCS tech said to try a CD12 as i tried a votive wick and it tunneled. CD18 burned well but had a high flame but melted all the way across. CD12 tunnelled as well. I'm going to get a BCS sampler pack and see what happens. Any suggestions on an HTP wick to try? Figure I'll try those as well. Never used those wicks though so...............
  14. I don't have them on hand so was asking which would be better to try starting with first? I don't want to buy a lot of them and not need them.
  15. I have a mold that a cd 12 is too small and a cd18 does a full melt from side to side with no wax on the ends, but it puts out a high flame. Any suggestions on what CD size wick to try next? Thought about going to the next smaller size of a 16 or should I try a 14. Any suggestions. BCS tech support told me to try a CD12 first but it's not giving a full burn all the way across. Like I said, a CD 18 gives a full burn all the way across, but it puts forth a high flame. If it helps any, the mold is a Texas shape and is approximately 1 and 7/8 inches across in the widest part and approximately holds 2 ounces of wax. Thanks in advance.
  16. Anyone know where I can purchase this w/o having to mix up my own version? Thanks.
  17. Who are you using to host your site? Have you tried emailing them for help? I use the free version to and set mine up with the help of my host and a guide sheet that was on their site.
  18. That is what I was going to do because of ease, etc and if you get a clear label and a clear lid, you can still see the candle and yet have a nice looking product and label. Hubby thinks though that it would look bare w/o something around the jar. But honestly it would need to be really small because the tin are for a label is 9 inches around but only 1.5 inches available for the width. At least I'd know i'm not the only one labeling just this way.
  19. I am adding 8 oz and 6 oz tin candles to my product line. I need ideas for labeling. Have several ideas in mind but I just would like to know..... Do you guys who do tins just label the top of the tin or do you have a label on the side or one going all around? Looking for any suggestions or ideas. I don't want too much but not too little either. Would love to see pics or websites of examples just to see how I can get mine a little more professional looking. TIA
  20. Those of you who had cracked or busted jars did anyone report it to Yank**?? I would have wrote a letter or made a phone call........for gosh sakes that's a safety issue and you know if one of our customers ever got a candle that did that they would sue our butts faster than we could blink or at least the vast majority would.
  21. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this with these mass produced candles. I was given one as a gift (silly I know, but the person thought I would like a candle that I didn't have to make). Anyway, I burned it. The throw was great, but now it still has over an inch of wax in the bottom and it won't burn anymore. It's as if it's intended to be this way. But it's over an inch and my first thought was.....pay so much for this??????guess it doesn't matter since I didn't pay for it and I still got to enjoy it w/o having made it myself. BUT next time..........I'll stick to my own candles. Just a note though.........anyone know where to get a bamboo scented fo? That was the fragrance and I actually liked it.
  22. I want to shrink wrap my tarts. I found Nashville wraps and they have the 4X6 shrink bags as the smallest. Would those work? Anyone else use something different. Opinions greatly appreciated as is any insight. Thanks so much.
  23. After I emailed her the information and a link to the website where she can sign up for a wholesale/tax permit in TX, she went and signed up with no issues whatsoever. Her permit will be here in 2-3 weeks. She wants to wait til her permit comes in and then make her order. she has placed her order, but won't pick it up until she gets her permit. I won't make the order either until her permit comes in.(although most is in inventory already). So, this way I'll be doing it the legal way and she's responsible for all her reporting. She can just be an independent sales rep I guess you can call her. She won't be an employee cus she will buy the product wholesale and then resale it on her own and report the taxes, etc herself off what she sells.
  24. Sorry for the confusion.........Yes, I will charge her retail and collect tax from her until she gets a retail sales tax permit. She will be a regular customer until she gets a permit. Once she gets a tax permit I will wholesale to her.
