  1. Has anyone tried palm tree from candlescience? I've been told that coconut scents do not throw well in pure soy. Because of this I have held off on ordering any coconut type scents. Just curious if anyone has had any luck with this fo in 415 pure soy. TIA.
  2. Today I will be ordering the new pumpkin souffle from candlescience. Not sure how new this fo is but has anyone tried this one yet?
  3. I also use GB415 and have been looking into WW fo's. I'm trying to get a fall lineup of oils. The following are on my list: Amish Carrot Cake Autumn Lodge Crushed Cranberries Dutch Apple Pie These are just to name a few. There is no way I can just order a few oils, that's just crazy.
  4. What I find works well is pouring the wax into the molds and after the wax sets up, if you have a small drill bit, just drill a small hole for the wick. This might sound more time consuming but on the other hand if your having trouble with your pins getting stuck and causing damage to your votives that's taking up time and creating possible waste. This technique might help things go smoother for you and eliminate sticky pins and broken votives. JMO. What works for one may not work for another. Hang in their and experiment to find what works for you.
  5. Thanks for the heads up Mike. I've been thinking about ordering fo's from CS and like their soy rating. I use GB415 and it's been hit or miss with fo's, (more miss than hit ). At 99 cents it would be a good time to try lots of fo's to see what works.
  6. I bought a double boiler ring at northstar. Place the ring in the bottom of my sauce pan, fill my sauce pan with some water and set my wax pot on top of the ring. This keeps the wax pot off the very bottom of the lower pot to avoid over heating or scorching your wax. The ring works great, it's fairly heavy and doesn't "pop" and jump around in the pan. Hope this helps. http://www.northstar3c.com/ccp/media/ccp0/prodsm/sm_dbl_boiler_maker.jpg
  7. Thanks so much for all of your responses and suggestions. :tiptoe: Time to goose step on over to CS 99 cent sample sale and get the job done.
  8. I'll give it a try, how about: Autumn Walk Autumn Breeze Autumn Leaves Fall Wreath Hope that helps.
  9. I'm fairly new to candle making and I've only poured a few container candles myself. I'm always trying to come up with a more organized way of documenting my tests. I have to say that your note taking sheet is very organized and detailed, the only thing that I would add to it would be above your pour temp, list a spot for you to document your fo/dye temps. Great job!
  10. I'm looking for some nice floral scents, (nothing too overpowering) for 415 soy. Maybe someone could chime in with their opinions on the following: English Garden Gardenia Golden Rose Honeysuckle Jasmine Love Spell Plumeria Feel free to suggest other CS florals not mentioned here that might be good ones. TIA.
  11. :yay:Glad to hear such raves about this fo. I'm getting ready to place an order with CS and Lime Cooler is on my list. Thanks for everyones input on this one!
  12. I've tried several different mac apple fo's in my 416 tarts and have noticed an odd "dirt" type smell with all of them. Maybe it's just my nose. :yay:Yippie! CandleScience is having a 99 cent fo sale. Could anyone recommend a sweet/tart appley type scent that isn't like mac apple that I could try from CS? I guess at 99 cents I could try them all to see which one I like best, I just like others opinions TIA
  13. Good idea KK, that just might work, I hate to see all that wax go to waste. I could make peppermint snowflakes and name them icy peppermint or something. Thanks for all the great suggestions for this wax, you have all been so helpful!
  14. I thought I was going crazy with this wax and thought for sure I was doing something totally wrong with it. Jami, your sooo right about the frosting, it's waaayyy beyond frosting, it's like a wet tart rolled in cornstarch or something, very ugly! I guess I'll try mixing it with some other wax to take the edge off the powdery residue. I hate to waste all this 416 that I've managed to stick myself with. Back to the old drawing board. Good luck with your 416 blend.
  15. Hi Grama, the only fo on your list that I have tried from JS is the Caramel Cinnamon Latte. It's a very strong coffee scent in my GB 416 tart wax.
  16. WOO HOOOOO to put it mildly, I'm glad I waited to place my order with them, I have a huge list of oils that I would like to try. My house is going to smell sooo good! LOL
  17. It's too bad the nature of this beast has to be so ugly. The most important thing with tarts is scent throw. unfortunately, with pure soy, they can have a good scent throw but look ugly at the same time. Being a perfectionist, I need something that smells good and looks half way descent, I'm thinking about tossing the 416 behind me and moving on to something else. If anyone is interested in some GB416 let me know, I've got 43 pounds looking for a new home lol.
  18. Hello everyone! I've been working with Golden Brands 416 tart wax for approx 8 months now. Overall, I'm not impressed with the looks of these tarts. The firmness is nice, HT and CT seem satisfactory for the most part but the longer this wax cures the uglier it gets. I have some tarts that have been curing for a couple of months that look like a dry, white, powdery mess, they almost look like they are disintegrating. I've heated, added fo, (no dye) and poured this wax at different temps, I've used different fo's from different suppliers and have been told to add a bit of crisco to help with the dryness and I still get the same dry, powdery results. I've contacted different suppliers that sell this wax, (even Jason at GB) and was told that they have never had this type of complaint about this wax before. Is this dryness just the nature of the beast with this wax? Has anyone else experienced similar characteristics of this wax? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA.
