  1. Hi Sharon. If you don't mind me asking, what type of wicks between the cored and coreless have you been successful with in this 415 wax? TIA for any advice.
  2. Wish I could give you some advice on wicking 415. I too have been working with this wax and it's been hit or miss with different fo's, (more miss than hit ). I've been at this hobby for almost a year now. I'm at the point where I'm not so sure about what I'm doing anymore. I've tried 700 series wicks but wasn't happy with the funny "fuel" type smell that they would put off when burning. The LX wicks seem to work okay, but for me, the HT results were just okay (when I would get close enough to the candle, almost burning my face). I'm digging into the nitty gritty details about different wicks and trying to learn the "real differences" between them. I too am looking for a good scent throw, both hot and cold. I seem to get a great CT with most fo's in my 415 but a good HT is a different story. Is there really a wick that works better for good HT? Wish I knew... Good luck to you 8. I'll keep you posted with my HT success with this wax when and if I get it figured out. Edited to say: I've recently tested fo's from Candlescience and they seem to be better than most other suppliers that I have tried.
  3. Look for fo's that are made for candles, preferably fo's that are tested in the type of wax that you are using. Some oils are made for candles and some are made for bath & body products. Good luck and have fun!
  4. I second the CS Sunwashed Linen. Great HT and CT in my 415.
  5. Candlescience creme brulee smells like candy corn to me.
  6. Hi CQ. What wax are you using for your tarts? If you used a molded wax such as votive/pillar or tart wax they should pop out of your molds as soon as they set up (maybe around 45 minutes or so) without using any mold release spray. If you used a container wax in you molds you will need to use a mold release spray and put them in the freezer to help with getting them out of the molds.
  7. Candlescience creme brulee smells like candy corn to me, no chocolate notes.
  8. I agree!!! Candlescience has great customer service and their fo's are awesome too. I have 38 of their fo's, (2 and 3 leaf rated) and all of them are awesome in my 415 pure soy. You can't go wrong with their scents for natural wax candles.
  9. Cindy, you were not the only one going through CT withdrawls. I kept checking day in, day out, thought it was my computer so I tried to get on the forum from my brothers computer, still no luck. :bliss:All I can say is, I'm sooo happy that it's up and running now. I shed tears of joy when the forum came back into my life.
  10. I just made some tarts with pumpkin souffle at 7.5% in my 415, the scent is pretty good, however, I smell lots of graham notes and not much pumpkin.
  11. CandleScience has pre assembled and spooled ECO 16.
  12. Measure the length and height for the size labeling that you are wanting then a good place to start would be here: www.worldlabel.com Look through this website to find what you want. Then visit this place to request some free samples. https://secure.onlinelabels.com/General/SamplesSelectItems.aspx Hope this helps.
  13. I have a Wagner 3500, variable temp (250F - 1350F) with 2 fan speeds. It works great! Got it at Amazon for $9.99. I applied for an Amazon credit card and received $30.00 off my first Amazon card purchase. On top of the $30.00 credit the heat gun qualified for free shipping. I use my heat gun for soo many things, can't live without it now.

  15. Very nice work airforce, you are very talented!
  16. Good point Carol! One wax at a time, one wick at a time. Candle making takes patience.
  17. That's okay, don't apologize, we all have to start somewhere. You guys will learn as you go and before you know it, you'll be pros. Ask all the questions you want, CT is one big team, we're all here to help. Hang in there and have fun!!!
  18. What a great booth! Love the scenery too. Great job!!!
  19. Ditto on the CS mulberry, nice and sweet.
  20. How long are you curing your candles for? I've noticed that pure soy, (I use GB415) needs to cure longer for better/stronger HT results. I've used MC oils and have been happy with about 1/2 of the scents that I have tried. It's hit or miss with any fo supplier when your working with soy. I add my fo at 175-180, pour at around 100 and usually get a great HT after about a 2 to 4 week cure. There are so many variables to candle making and results will vary from person to person, what works for one might not work for another.
  21. Hi Judy, I also did several searches on this forum hoping to find other members opinions on Northstar scents. I was surprised to only find maybe 2 or 3 threads that mentioned very little about their oils. Since NS has soy based oils I thought it would be good for my GB415 wax. The following is a list of scents that I used that did throw in my wax. They would have been stronger had I let them cure longer. Berry Tangerine Blackberry Gelato Country Berry Country Garden Fig Melon Fresh Cut Tulips Honeydew Granita Honeysuckle Macintosh Apple Vanilla Pink Grapefruit Hope this helps. :rolleyes2
  22. Thanks a bunch for all of your replies and suggestions! :yay:I'm so glad to hear that there are some good coconut scents out there for 415. CMM, honey coco mango sound yummy! Looks like I've got some shopping to do.
  23. Thanks Carrie and chris, looks like I was way off, I'll go ahead and try the 93 and 126 and maybe the 104 and 105 in between. Thanks again for your replies.
