  1. Yes, you sure can. In fact, I've learned that letting the base set up at least overnight and then add the preservative, FO and sugar makes a much better scrub. No longer does the oil stand on top even a little bit after mixing in the sugar.
  2. 'Enquiry' is actually not a misspelling, just the British version. I see this a lot.`
  3. You can pretty much rest assured that if someone wants to purchase candles on that scale without first trying your products, it's a scam. Would you spend that kind of money on something unseen? Didn't think so.
  4. I truly hope you were pulling his leg when you said you had half the candle ready for shipping.
  5. You sure can. I use 2 parts epsom salts, 1 part sea salt and 1 part dendritic salt. Along with a little olive oil, baking soda and FO. Makes a great bath salt mixture.
  6. Here's my recipe for lotion bars. Feel free to take this recipe and make it your own. I'm sure there could be improvements but this one works for me. *cocoa butter 2 oz *mango butter 1.5 oz *olive oil 1.2 oz *soy wax 1.5 oz *beeswax 2 oz (I would recommend the white beeswax if you don't want yellowish bars although there's nothing wrong with them) *fragrance to preference (as you know, some FOs are a bit stronger than others) I used OMH because it's one of my faves but I'll be doing London Lemon Curd next. Melt the hard butters/waxes and then mix in the olive oil. Pour into whatever mold you like that will fit your presentation container (tins, etc.)--I used silicone muffin inserts in a regular muffin tin. It takes just a little bit for them to set up and they will pop right out.
  7. The beeswax is what made the first batch too stiff. With less beeswax and soy wax added they were too gooey. But when both were thrown in together at the amounts listed, it was just right. Go figure.
  8. I think it probably can after it has cooled just a tad. I wouldn't want to pour it too hot because it might seep. But they do set up pretty hard. I've got some of those tubes I should try. Thanks for the suggestion. :highfive:
  9. Ok, Girls, here it is. This is an item that is almost too easy to make. I used ounces but you could use any measure you prefer: *cocoa butter 2 oz *mango butter 1.5 oz *olive oil 1.2 oz *soy wax 1.5 oz *beeswax 2 oz (I would recommend the white beeswax if you don't want yellowish bars although there's nothing wrong with them) *fragrance to preference (as you know, some FOs are a bit stronger than others) I used OMH because it's one of my faves but I'll be doing London Lemon Curd next. Melt the hard butters/waxes and then mix in the olive oil. Pour into whatever mold you like that will fit your presentation container (tins, etc.)--I used silicone muffin inserts in a regular muffin tin. It takes just a little bit for them to set up and they will pop right out. ENJOY!
  10. What sockmonkey said. Some will just ask for the most ridiculous concessions just because they can.
  11. OMG, they are great. Made the first batch and didn't like it because it was too stiff. Made the second batch and didn't like it because it was too gooey. Melted them both, threw them together and they are great! Does anyone want the recipe?
  12. I've never had an issue with smelly preservative in my scrubs. However, I put the preservative and the FO in the oils and melted butters and mix mix mix, only adding the sugar at the very end, and usually after letting the oils/butters/FO/preservative mixure set up over night. Sugar seems to incorporate better that way.
  13. Oh, for crap sake, this is a box being used to ship supplies, NOT finished products. And the shipper is recycling. Who gives a rat's behind (pun intended) what the box says. And advertising by using a recycled box? You've gotta be kidding.
  14. Why, thank you, MissMary. I'm full of opinions. Other stuff, too I don't care how old a thread is if it's relevant to someone somewhere.
  15. When asked about the "natural" aspect, especially if they turn their noses up at anything containing a **GASP** preservative, I remind folks that fungi, bacteria, molds, etc. are also natural. Do you want them in your products? NO.
  16. I thought I was the only one who did that! I just love to burn those candles. I've made layered candles with no more than three scents and they seem to go over well. I picked scents that I liked but didn't necessarily "go" together and then colored each layer accordingly. No theme or anything like that.
  17. I see your starry night and it's gorgeous. Good job!
  18. It sounds like a good idea but probably is not practical since it won't keep long without refrigeration. Why don't you give them a small amount along with instructions on how to make more if they like it, especially since it's so simple to make.
