  1. I emailed them this morning and they said they are having server problems and hope to have it fixed soon. I jonesin' for one of their sample packs. :undecided
  2. I don't have much to add that others haven't said much more eloquently than I ever could, but I want you to know I'm thinking about you and hope you can get this worked out so YOU are feeling much better about it all. Whew, that was a run-on sentence, wasn't it? Buck up, Girlie, with a margarita in one hand and a good bar of chocolate in the other. Always good for what ails you!! :whoohoo: Hang in there, you'll be fine. And we're all pulling for you.
  3. Lots and lots and lots and lots of red poinsettias. "Black tie" doesn't necessarily mean a black and white theme, so add a real punch of color with tons of red poinsettias in varying sizes. In front of the fireplace if you have one, on your steps if you have some, on the buffet in your dining room. Just everywhere!!! Oh, what fun to have a great Christmas party. We'll be having one, too, a week earlier but not formal. I can't wait!! santa chee
  4. Get an attorney quickly and put an end to this. It will probably cost you $100 or so for the attorney to write a letter, but you have to do this to protect yourself.
  5. Hi, Jen---KY's soy whip is THE BOMB! I love that stuff. However, it is very very dense so will have to be scooped out and put in something that can be squeezed easily if you're using tubes (HDPE plastic). I put mine in round flat tubs and it's easily scooped out. It will have a bit of rubbery texture (that bothers some folks but not me) but it scoops out fairly easily. The effect of the whip on my skin is worth every bit of the effort of getting it out of the big jar and into a smaller container. I wouldn't add anything except FO to the whip as it may mess with the preservative already in it. Believe me, you won't need to add anything else to it. And speaking of FOs, since I buy this only for my own use, I put the FO in to my own particular liking, so I can't give you a specific measurement per oz or gram or whatever. And welcome to the addiction!!! julie
  6. I made three small candles (approx. 6oz) last night and totally forgot to put in the FO. What good is a candle that doesn't smell, I ask you? Can I reheat them in a bain marie and then add the FO? Guess it doesn't hurt to try, eh?
  7. Yes, wax expands but not enough to cause problems since it goes UP. If the container was tightly capped while being heated, I would worry. Otherwise, don't lose sleep over expanding wax in a glass container. However, these items are certainly interesting...
  8. I just found out yesterday that someone I know makes a great sugar scrub WITH WINE so I'm off to the laboratory for experimentation! I'll let you know how it turns out. But I'm still gonna drink some of that vino!
  9. Here's a nice recipe: 25% Butter(s) of your choice 10% Stearic Acid 8% Cetyl Alcohol 51% Oil(s) of your choice 3.5% Polysorbate 20 1.5% Fragrance 1% appropriate preservative Add same weight sugar as the weight of the butters/oils and other ingredients (not including preservative). Makes a fantastic scrub. ENJOY
  10. When you make bath bombs with ornament molds do you overpack the halves and then push them together, clearing away the excess? And how do you make sure they come out cleanly? I've never used that method, I just make the half-domes from a coffee scoop.
  11. I thought this would be of interest to you wonderful soapmakers and chandlers, not to mention you who make bath and body products. http://www.tnsoapandcandlegathering.com/
  12. Someone has suggested reducing the wine thereby evaporating most or all of the alcohol and using the reduction in the scrub. I'm gonna try it that way, but I'll probably still drink the vino whilst concocting the scrub.
  13. I haven't tried Candlemaker STore's soy whip but I can tell you that I LUB LUB LUB Kentucky Candle's and am thrilled to buy it by the gallon. I dole it out to my friends and they love it, too.
  14. Ya know, the more I read about potential problems, the more I think you have the right idea! :whoohoo:
  15. I would suggest less water and more of the butter.
  16. My scrubs ARE emulsified and preserved. For what it's worth.
  17. Just sounds like it would be an unusual ingredient. No particular value except that. :rolleyes2
  18. I am thinking about doing a sugar scrub and adding a bit of red wine to it. Has anyone here done that? If so, when and where do you add the wine? Or does it even matter?
  19. [Michi: Try backing down on your CB before adding more oils. It seems like that is the way it's supposed to be (harder) from looking at the recipe.] ******************************************************* I'm with you, BabyCakes, sounds like you were being advised by BOTH to add more oils. I don't think you misinterpreted at all. Please don't chastise her for reiterating what YOU said.
  20. I've never had a problem with the sugar dissolving in my sugar scrubs--of course I put the same weight sugar as the weight of the oils and, boy, is it scrubby forever! Love it, love it, love it. If you add pumice to your scrub be sure to warn AGAINST using it on the face. It's far too abrasive for faces. :undecided
  21. I quilt (hand quilting only, none of that machine quilting stuff ), crochet, knit and make a great big mess in the kitchen.
