What size labels is everyone using for these??? I'd like to pretty much cover up the lid of the clamshell (leaving maybe a 1/4" space around it) and can't decide what size label to order. Onlinelabels has a 3.7 x something, but I'm wondering if it'll be too big. I know I can order samples but I'm in a hurry as usual. lol Thanks for any help.

HELP Turkey Fryer Emergency!
Donna-Do replied to mrsposey's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
My Masterbuilt did the same thing...After about a year's worth of daily use, the inside liner started to warp (the bottom bulged out). I'd have to jiggle it around for the contacts to work, like you mentioned. DH took a mallet it to it a few times and banged it back into shape but eventually it sprung a leak. After that mess, I contacted the company and bought a new liner. I think it was about $25...Still was worth it to me to just replace the liner. I love my turker fryer. lol I'd like to hear more about the one piece Masterbuilt though...Does anyone have a link to one??? -
Can someone help me find a fragrance dupe?

Never used Candle Chem myself but they have it... http://www.candlechem.com/fragrance.htm -
I think shrink wrapping is way too much work and use the 3x3 ziplocs myself. But, if I were going to shrink wrap, I'd use tubing and an impulse sealer. http://www.packcoinc.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=83

How about Peach Pit or Peach Wood? If you're gearing it towards men, I could see a lot of possibilities with the "wood" thing. lol

RE/AH has the BEST liquid dyes, hands down.

Ditto this! Loved getting the tart as a sample too! Took all the work out of trying it. -
CS's look like the smaller molds to me...I get my tart molds from The Candle Source (I buy them by the 100's, so they're only .39 cents a piece). My finished tarts usually weigh at least 1.1 ozs when they're filled to the top. You can usually tell by looking at the circle in the bottom of the molds. A quarter would fit into the circle in the bottom of the true 1 oz. molds. http://thecandlesource.com/catalog/i485.html

Have any of you had your candles critiqued?
Donna-Do replied to candlelady's topic in Business Side of Things
I'd email them and ask them about it... I was under the impression that you could request a review but that they didn't actually contact people themselves and request products, if THEY wanted to do a review on you. That for a totally honest review of TAT and everything, that they just placed orders anonymously and then did a review... I could be wrong though. lol -

Have they been air drying for at least 2 weeks? I've made them a couple of times and never had any trouble with them but sticks are the way to go, IMO. The cones soak up so much more oil than the sticks. I think you get a lot more bang for your buck with the sticks.

I use soapsupplies AJ&P. IMHO, it's a dead on dupe. http://soapsupplies.net/special.html

What has being in the candle/soap/craft business taught you?
Donna-Do replied to Sara's topic in Business Side of Things
LOL Unfortunately I learned that one too. :lipsrseal -
I like Lonestar's Patchouli. Had to wick up one but it burns nicely.

Tennessee has a great New Car Scent. Pretty much smells like leather but I think most of them do. NEW CAR SCENT

Sorry about the jumble. I have no idea why my list posted that way. Let's try it again: Powdered Sugar- Still awesome. Reminds me of Sugar Wafers a little. Definitely has some bakery in it. Banana Bark & Bamboo- Not a lot of Banana in this but good and strong. Slightly Herbal...If you like Bamboo & Sugar Cane, you'll probably like this. Clove & Peppermint- More Peppermint than Clove. Not your typical plain Peppermint. Indian Spice- Nice! Slightly spicy Nag Champa type of scent. Has a little Patchouli or something in it. If you like Hippy type scents, you'll love this one. Caffe Cafe Latte- Nice mild coffee and cream type scent. Would be a good Starbucks. Apple Blossom & Peony- I smelled more Peony in this than AB OOB but smelled more of the AB when it hit the wax. Very nice and true. Christmas Cranberries- Great Cranberry scent. Not a lot of spice in this one. French Strawberry- Very realistic. Don't detect any "candy" smell at all. Heirloom- Pretty woman's perfume type scent. Smells kind of familiar. Might remind me a little of Senchal or something like that. ??? Lavender Vanilla- This is a good strong one. Lunar Eclipse- Hard to describe. Reminds me of a nice men's cologne with a touch of lime maybe... Mystery Man- This one doesn't smell like a cologne, like I thought it would. Smells a little fruity, almost like a clean Grandpa's Garden. lol Orange Cranberry- More Orange w/peel than Cranberry. Will be good for Fall. Pineapple Coconut- Really good and strong. I don't smell a lot of Coconut. Smells a lot like Pineapple Cilantro to me. Raspberry Lemon Tart- Strong and tart. Not sure about the "tart" part. I don't smell any bakery in this. More Lemon than Raspberry. Velvet Vanilla- Very light. Reminds me of KY's Southern Vanilla but a lot lighter. Wild Cherry- Good and strong. Spicy but not like a full blown "burn your nose hair" Black Cherry. lol Would love to hear other reviews. Think I'll get in one more order before the sale ends.

Received my Mr. Missy order yesterday and am impressed once again! Most of these are OOB reviews but I'll be busy making tarts all weekend with them. lol They're all nice and strong OOB except for Vanilla Velvet. It's definitely on the lighter side but I'll see what it does when it hits the wax....I'm terrible at decriptions but here goes:Powdered Sugar- Still awesome. Reminds me of Sugar Wafers a little. I like At Wix End's Creme Brulee the best, with KY's coming in a close second. No chocolate in either of these.
