  1. oh no, now I have marble envy!!!! Those are beautiful! (and apparently will now be my next adventure after I work on some more rustics....)
  2. Those are beautiful! I love the tart warmer, where did you find it if you don't mind me asking?
  3. I posted in the veg. candle section, but haven't gotten any responses so I thought I'd try down here! I have a customer who wants lemongrass. I use ecosoya 135. Anyone have a great lemongrass that throws well in soy, and if so who is the supplier? I typically order from Peaks, Nature's Garden or Millcreek but NGs review of their lemongrass wasn't encouraging....
  4. Evening Everyone! I have a client intersted in lemongrass. I have not purchased this scent before and Nature's Garden had a so-so review for use in soy. Has anyone bought this scent and had it throw well for them? I am using ecosoya 135. TIA! Jen
  5. Well, we did get distracted by the kids running around, so it might have been closer to 2 hours. I used a 24 ply flat braid wick, with the pillar having a 3" diameter. (It was the size the supplier suggested so I went with that). Should I try a 18? I am planning on placing an order by Monday, so maybe I'll grab some more wick sizes.... Thanks
  6. Love those colors! I think my dye list is getting longer lol!
  7. Thanks! Rustic Pillar Envy - a new candle disease Definitely didn't cure it by making one, now I am looking at more dyes lol. I am not sure on the wax. I used the 1274 from peak. When researching I noticed a lot of people using the 1343 and adding stearic. one of the rustic pros should be able to provide a better answer!
  8. Sorry I forgot the scent!! It is millcreeks Berry Creme Brulee - one of my absolute favorites. I burned for about an hour and the melt pool covered edge to edge, snuffed it so it wouldn't go over. I really haven't burned many pillars, so don't have much to compare it to, but I think it did well! lol
  9. Thanks everyone! Judy wins! The shiny spot happened with the flash and the eye is just the rustic. I actually bought a mottling wax (1274) instead of straight 1343 so that could be part of the reason. The glare/shiny spot happened right where there is a small 'dent'. I think the wax must have pulled away from the side right there. So next time I need to be more on the uptake with the relief holes. lol My friend is coming over tonight so we are going to light it up and see what it does. I have to make a prize basket for my sister's upcoming baby shower and would love to be able to put a rustic pillar in! Hopefully I can get it right in the next few weeks
  10. Well I made my first rustic pillar (first pillar ever actually lol) and I think it turned out pretty good! I have been doing soy jars, tarts, and electric candles but have been suffering from severe candle envy whenever people post pics of their rustic pillars I still need to test burn, but it smells really yummy on my counter and looks pretty!
  11. Thanks Scented! I have some steric acid here, but wasn't sure if I needed to use it or not for these. I am thinking I'll order new wicks if I am going to use the parafin. I am using CD and HTP with my soy containers... What type are best for these - sq braid? flat braid?
  12. Thanks Rae! I just added it to my cart. What started out as a small order ( ) is growing and growing.....
  13. I keep drooling over all the rustic pillar pics everyone keeps posting. I am placing an order today for some other supplies and thought I would order the stuff to give them a try. I haven't done pillars yet, just containers, tarts, and electrics. I have some wick samples, dye, and ecosoya pillar blend -so I think I just need a mold, wick screws, and the mold sealer. 1. Can I use the ecosoya pb to make rustics or do I need to order a parafin? 2. If I need parafin, what do you all reccomend? 3. Any thing else I would need to get? TIA
  14. I found 2 of those snowmen at my dollar tree the other day, going to try to play with them today!
  15. Stupid question! lol Are the CDN wicks different than the CD wicks? I have been using the CD wicks from candles and supplies and those seem to be working out pretty good. I got a free sample of WI-_ _ _ wicks from wick it, (the blanks are for the various numbers) but I haven't tried them yet........
  16. That is so awesome! I wish I had enough talent to make something like that!
  17. That is too funny! $15 for an 8 oz tin, they sure had a great idea!
  18. That's good news! I am thinking it's a combo of my wax and wattage. For whatever fluky reason the hs from c&s are the only ones affected, but that may not mean anything. One of my partners had 2 different ones going last night and had a problem with only the hs. The socket got a little wobbly and the bulb tipped forward to close to one side, that side got too hot and started to melt. Hopefully anchoring the sockets in better with a 2nd wax pour will make the difference, at least until I can switch my wax and order new bulbs in....
  19. After testing and messing (lol) with a couple here at the house I found that one of them had a 'loose' cord. The socket wasn't nice and tight. So I added some wax in that area to 'glue' the clear ring in tight - if that makes sense! Hopefully that will help as the bulb was dipping towards one side and I think that may have made it too soft. I am also switching to the 5 watt bulbs! Thanks everyone for all the help
  20. Hi everyone! Last year I bought a christmas candle from a now out of biz company. It was a red frosted tumber with silver lid. I would love to find a jar similar to that to make for the 2 november craft shows I have coming up. I have searched endlessly....... has anyone found anything like that? Thanks!
  21. Thanks for the suggestion!! I will have to test that out.
  22. Thanks again for the advice everyone! I am testing out 2 candles I had here ready to go. THey are both in the scent that I am having problems with. They've been on for 2 hours, no problems yet... If these do start to melt (the customer who returned said she had hers on for 4 hours) then fo sure I will recall the 9 that are out there is this scent. I figured I would swap them for a new one and offer a discount on their next purchase. I appreciate all the help!!
