Yes, their mold has the plug and we used their sockets with the clear ring. It seemed like the easiest way to go for starting out. If you don't mind me asking which mold do you use? Do you have to cut your own channel for the cord? I am wondering the same thing on the wax! When I called to tell them about the problem they said that the votive blend works just fine for them........ I do have some ecosoya pillar blend here that has a 145 (?) melt point so I could try that. I just have sooooo much of the vb left (like 35lbs) that I hate to waste it. I haven't tried votives yet and that is a LOT of tarts lol. They said I could ship it back, but I think that the shipping costs wouldn't be worth the credit. I am feeling like such a dummy right now!

Thanks for the link. Do you know if those sockets work with the mold from c & s? Looks like 'A" might work, and definitely cheaper when they are ordered in larger quantities! Are you using the pillar blend from C & S (that is a 141 melt point and I thought about giving it a try...) Definitely let me know how your harvest does!

missed some of the questions: the wax is supposed to be for tarts/votives and is recc. by c & s for electric candles- it has a melt point of 133 the bulb is 7 watt and does not touch the sides it was on for 2 hours the first night and did ok, but last night was on for around 3 and was not ok. C & S did say that I could try a pillar blend with the higher melt point, but I have like 35 lbs left and I really don't want it to go to waste. I haven't started making votives yet and don't feel ready to tackle those! lol I am still working bugs out of my containers!

Thanks for the review of the stearic, I haven't worked with it before and would rather not change the look of the candle. I have 7 watt bulbs as that is what c&s told me to use! I was wondering if that might be the problem but when I called c & s they said that should not be the issue. c & s has 3 watt bulbs would that be too low? I am using a thin mold, so I am wondering if 5 watt would still be too much. Where do you buy your bulbs? Maybe I can get them cheaper elsewhere. I am using the c & s cords since I bought their mold and I just ordered 50 of them, so I would have to make sure the bulb would work with those cords..... I appreciate all the advice!!!

Hi Everyone - I have been making the grubby electric candles without problems. Suddenly we had one that got too soft and tipped over One of my partners lit both scents we are doing at her house and it looks as if the problem may be with just the one scent. (c & s harvest spice) We had ordered the harvest spice form millcreek initially and are also doing a pumkin from nature's garden. Both candles that got too soft were the new batch of harvest spice. We are using paraffin votive blend wax, cords and bulbs all from c & s and I called and talked to them and they were baffled. They suggested perhaps adding stearic acid. So, anyone else experienced this before? Could it be the FO? I am hoping it may be the fo, as that would be the cheapest fix! Would stearic acid make a difference, backing down on the amt of fo? Suggestions are greatly appreciated! I think I will start tomorrow by pouring a new one with less fo and then lighting a current and new one up to see what happens. I don't actually have any stearic, so I would have to order some in. I think we have 9 or 10 of these new harvest spice ones out, so I'd like to figure out the problem and remake them before the customers get upset!!!

Those all sound so good! I can see my FO budget will have to be increased lol. Anyone else have favorites to add?

Thanks all I'll have to try adding the fo hotter. Kim - do you have success with the cb adv? I have some here and it was so easy to work with, but my hot throw was terrible- truly awful! lol Maybe it was the fo I used (one from wellington that I had here for my lotions, supposed to be ok for candles as well, but....) I think I might have to try a batch of 135 and adv using the same fo and see what happens.....

2nd poll! What is your absolute favorite, best hot throw FO that you use in ecosoya and which supplier do you get it from? I am working with millcreeks apple jack & peel at the moment. I love the scent and the cold throw, but feel like the hot throw could be better. I thought that this one was listed on the soy throwing sticky list, but it was actually peak that carried it not millcreek. I want to pour another batch using a different fo to see if it is simply the supplier that is giving me fits! Before I start pouring I thought I would see what everyone else has as a all time favorite..... Thanks!

Poll time! Trying to tweak the apple jack and peel candle that I am working on. I would really like to get all the bugs out of this one before I move on to another scent. This last batch I made I used 2 different wicks that both seem to achieve the correct melt pool (cd12 and htp 104) in a 3" diameter 5 oz apothecary. I added 1.5 oz of fragrance and let cure 1 week. (not using dye) So now I want to adjust the temp. on my next batch. The ecosoya web site said to work with the soy at 155. So I added my fo at that temp. I've seen other posts with hotter and lower temps. I poured around 125. So I thought I'd poll.... For those of you who use the ecosoya - what temp do you add your FO at? What temp do you pour at? Thanks a million!

Kim - It is the shorter 5 oz (I think! lol) I will try the htp 105 and see if that helps. What temp do you add your fo at?

I used the apple jack and peel from millcreek which is on the list that is stickied for scents that throw in soy... I thought that the 1212 looked huge . Maybe I'll try the 105 instead. On the other 2 it seemed like a 'correct' melt pool. Maybe I need to add the FO even hotter? The manufacturer suggests 155 degrees....

Hey everyone. I need some suggestions. I poured 3 5oz apothecary jars using ecosoya 135 and 1.5oz of apple jack & peel to 1 lb wax. #1 and #2 HTP 104 (my sister took one to test) #3 CD 12 Hot throw was ok on both, but not fantastic. My sis only let hers cure 2 days, she liked it but said it could have been stronger. I let the other 2 cure for 1 week. The diameter on the jars is 3inches. #2 burned 2 hrs 15min and used .5oz wax with 4/16 inch deep melt pool. It did reach the edges of the jar. #3 also burned 2 hrs 15 min, used .5 oz wax with a 6/16 in deep melt pool. It too reached the edge of the jar. Soooooo, to improve the hot throw do I wick up to CD 20 and HTP 1212 for testing or do I increase the FO to 2oz per 1lb?

I am in Az and have been ordering from Peak. I am not at the point where I need to order 200lbs at once, but hope to be soon and boy does that stink about UPS. I really wish I had the money to open up a candle supply store here in AZ as there is nothing here. If I ever did open a store, hubby and I own a small trucking company so maybe he could go pick up my stuff!

Hello everyone! I tried searching but kept finding info on calculating burn time... Is there a chart somewhere that shows what a good burn time is to use as a guide? I have a 5oz ecosoya 135 that has been burning for a total of 20 hours tops. There is about 1/3 left, so it looks like it will make it to 30 hours. Does that sound about right? Thanks!

There is so much information on these boards that I had a hard time deciding where to start, so just ordered some different things and went for it! lol The candle turned out so pretty that it really stinks that the hot throw is not good. It would have been way to easy for me to nail the first one Any other tips are greatly appreciated!

Thanks -I may have to try the 135, If I am not happy with the hot throw then I know customers would not like it. How is the 135 for pouring/frosting/ease of use etc.?

Hey everyone. I am still pretty new to the boards, haven't posted much but have been reading like crazy. I poured my 1st candle on Thurs. 19th. Here's the details: Ecosoya cb advanced added 6% FO (pomegranate) at 155 degrees poured at 120 degrees 5 oz jar HTP 93 wick no dye It poured great, one pour no wet spots. Cold throw is fantastic. Burning for 1st time today (12 days curetime, maybe not long enough?). Achieved full melt pool in 1 hour. But the hot throw is limited to the area where it is burning. Other candles I have burned in the past were stronger, so I am worried that I messed up big time! Will the hot throw be stronger if I wait longer, does the ecosoya suck for hot throw, or did I do something terribly wrong!?

Thanks! I like the wellington fragrances in my b/b products, but from what I was reading it seemed like they don't give off a good throw. I am glad that you like them as I already have like 12 larger bottles! I figured for melting I would start with a larger pot and put the pouring pot in (double broiler like). The presto conversion looks great - I may need to get on my husband about making one for me I really like the mason jars, so I'll probably start there. Unless I get a kit and I'll use the ones that come with it.

Do you have to add additives to the candles? I've been seeing things on additives, but not sure what they would be for.... Here is what I want to start with: A soy or soy blend wax -looking at ecosoya, ezsoy, or the golden blend. I am not going to add color to start, want to perfect the rest first and I do like the natural soy cream color. I am thinking a smaller jar to start, perhaps an 8oz so I need wicks for that size. I need to pick up a pouring pan/pot ( I thought I would check Michael's and use my coupon for that) I have FO here but they are from Wellington and it looks like I might be better off with another supplier for those... (would like to get a few more FO from whatever co. I get the wax from to cut down on shipping costs) I need a candle thermometer as well. What am I missing from my list? Thanks!!!!
