Yea stick to your prices! these rude people don't realize HOW much we put into our product, the costs and then the packaging! GEESSSSHHHHH! But now let me have some cash in my pocket and go to a craft show, I will pay the price they are asking cause I DO know what it takes! I tell people who asks me if I offer a discount and this is what I tell them: I have to pay rent, electricity, adverstising, etc., etc. I am not here for FREE! But then I tell them if they want to pay my overhead each week and month then I will give them a discount!!!! They are my biggest customers and buyu in bulk (no discounts!!!!)

Well, I agree with a little competition ! The owner of the market place I have my shoppe at PUT a woman who sells the same thing as I do right across the aisle in front of me! the only thing she makes (supposedly) is her candles but not all of them. I MAKE EVERYTHING in my store, candles, incense, fragrance oils, body & message oils, bath & body, oh and my gift baskets. Actually my sales increase every week whether she is open or closed! But this girl teamed up with the biz owner beside me and they have spread rumors on me, bashed me, told lies on me, and when I started re-modeling my shoppe, she did the same to hers and copied what I did to mine. but I just ignored her!!!!! I have better things to do while open for business than to stoop to her level! :rolleyes2 So I wouldn't worry about it! Competition is good! It keeps us motivated to make our products BETTER and not commercialized or petroleum-based!!!! All of my products are 99% all natural, my sticks are made out of 100% bamboo and tree gum to adhere it to the stick! My bath & body products are made from all natural oils, my wax is palm wax. She can't tell her customers that! I have had her customers to quit buying from her cause she doesn't interact with her customers, plus when they ask what is in her products, she doesn't tell them! I see her moving out in the near future, not that I am praying for it but the trend she is setting for herself and her business.

yes I do! and I do tell my customers this! They know I am a rigid and abusive tester and they know I am telling the facts! LOL Also if you smell a lot of fragrances your smeller gets immuned to it! LOL That is why I finally moved out of my kitchen to my work area in the basement!!!! So when I test a candle I can get an honest scent throw test! HTH

Well 6+ years ago I started out with only a mere 15 fragrances and today I have well over 200 so it has taken me that long to stock them and keep them stocked! I am only gonna carry maybe 20 - 30 scents for my jar candles but the votives and tarts WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love making them. NOW that is an addiction! *faint* I found my pineapple rubber mold and kept thinking that would be a cute wax tart cause these look like whole pineapples not the chunks, but I do have the chunk one! oh boy I see no sleep coming in the near future!!!! But it will be your choice on what you want to carry, start out small then grow as you go!!!!!

I use the Starburst Pillar Palm wax and it is fantastic!!!! I sold out again at my store this weekend! I may just quit container candles and do mainly tarts and votives!!! LOL I have over 200 molds that I can use! I was thinking something like "The Country Tart Shoppe"? slogan "Don't be a flame, Tarts For ANY occasion!" We smell Good, You smell good!!!

Will be in my shoppe this weekend! trying to re-model and hope to get something done!:rolleyes2 My shoppe needs a big overhaul!!!!!!!!! I wish hubby would make some shelves for me that i have been begging him to do for ages!!! But looks like that won't ever happen!!!!!! :rolleyes2

Stella, It is not the FO's..... I make 1/2 oz fragrance oils for oil burners and it doesn't bother me. For some reason the soy/para blend I used (this was the 4th wax I tried) just gave me migraines before I added the scent. I used ventilation and masks,what the doc recommended and still got headaches! I would crank up the melting pots and wait for the wax to melt and at the first sign of the wax melting, BOOM I had a headache!!!!!!!!! Go figure!!!! I can't burn one of those candles either! I ate headache medicine like it was going out of style! and then on top that!!!!!!!!!! I would get sinus headaches too!!!!!!!!!! Go figure!!!!!!!!

On a nother post Vanilla was mentioned as a good one for men I was thinking of doing just exclusive fragrances and not so many!!!! of course when valentine's roll around I have to make red and pink ones!!!! then I have to package the darn thing! any ideas?????? cello bag with a tie/bow?????

Stella, I wish I could use my soy/paraffin blend again! I loved that wax and so did my customers!!!! I miss making my banana pudding candles, cookies and milk candles, hot fudge sundaes, bundt cakes, pie tarts, cinnamon buns and my 200 different types of wax melts/embeds, tropical pillars, elegant bowl candles, and chunk pillars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if they didn't give me migraines while I was melting it then I would go for it!!!!!!

hmmmmm thanks for the posts! I just found my clamshells, (packed up from moving) I was thinking of pouring my palm wax in them, I got mine from Wholesale Supplies Plus. I havne't had any problems before when I used them with my soy/paraffin blend wax. I need to use them and add them to my store inventory! I NEED the room in my work shoppe and $$$.
