  1. Just made my first forever pillar, as I only have the paraffin wax I use for my votives I used that, used a glass tealight holder and a tealight I had made. The wick is a zinc 34 - 40 that I've had for ages. The pillar is 3", rustic and I used 2 tbsp of stearic . When I tested it, a couple of ml of wax melted around the edge of the holder. I have a different tealight wick coming 28 - 24's. Does anyone know if these wicks will stop the pillar melting or am I using the wrong wax for the pillar. Or would micro hard help? :undecided
  2. My first supplier was Candlewhat (here in the UK), dreadful customer service, email them no reply, phone them got an answer machine. Needless to say not long after I received my last pallet of wax from them, they closed. I got my first oil samplers from them and then found Cierra. Then there was SoapnCandles now taken over by AH. Recently got oils from Peaks and just placed another order
  3. Ooooh he's such a cutie Your baskets look gorgeous, would never have thought the plates would have been so cheap. They make a very elegant display, love the candles too
  4. It was Spruce Christmas Tree, think I shall be adding that one to my list as well lol, loved the Ocean want to try that in a rustic pillar at the weekend
  5. :laugh2: Have already been looking at what I can order next, even DH loved the Creme Brulee. I think I shall now definitely be switching suppliers
  6. Oh my god, how awesome is their Creme Brulee OOB, think I will be playing with this shortly and the Caramel Apple and the Ocean and how cruel they put in a sample of something else. Stove is now on, water heating, I got wax to melt lol :yay: :yay:
  7. LOL I had smoke belching out of my oven today but that was my cooking not anything candle related. Was cooking a roast and the fat sounded like it exploded in the roaster and shot all over the oven. Damn my eyes were stinging trying to clean that up.
  8. Well I've seen so many great things said about Peaks, so I've just placed my first order with them Can't wait to get them, I ordered caramel apple, creme brulee and ocean. Lets just hope they don't arrive on a Wednesday when DH is home lol, not that he minds at all, I pay for them anyway but I'm sure he thinks I have enough scents. FO's are like handbags and shoes, you can never have enough lol. Also gonna go into town at the end of the week and look for some bears, I so wanna have a go at dipping them, think I'll make 1 for my cousin she has a wee boy and I know she would just love one of these. Damn so many things I want to try and not enough hours in the day
  9. I buy tabbed too and I tab my own as I get loads of leftovers from jars that are long enough to make another.
  10. I know Cierra Candles do, as I get some of my supplies from there, I see Peaks have them and I'm sure they ship here as well. I haven't used tins before so I don't know what they're like
  11. Lovin them all 'specially the first set
  12. Got a huge delivery of wax today (different from the last lot) just tried it out making yet another rustic layer, looks promising so far didn't have any snowflakey mottling thing going on. So depending how it turns out tomorrow I'll be getting busy doing more, just love these pillar wick pins I got yesterday. Gonna be pouring lavender & chamomile, vanilla, creme brulee, eucalyptus & peppermint, mistletoe and christmas splendour. If its not rustic layers it'll be good 'ole chunk pillars
  13. Well I ordered some wick pillar pins and yet more FO's and tracked the parcel coming over from the US. Saw it was at the depot so gave them a ring this morning to see if I could pick it up without waiting for the custom charges letter. Rushed over to Edinburgh got my parcel, laughed with the man, who frowned because I didn't have my letter, said that I was just so desperate to get this because I needed these supplies to make a birthday present for the weekend. Absolute fib but didn't think he would understand the FO addiction and the need to try out these wick pins lol. Can't wait to try out the peppermint and spearmint fo's with eucalyptus so guess I know what I'm doing for the next few days
  14. Have Eucalyptus & Lavender in the bathroom, Jack Frost in the l/r and Apples & Berries (my 2nd attempt at rustic layers) in the kitchen.
  15. Awesome as always Scented, love the top ones, seems to be no end to that talent of yours
  16. Gorgeous as always JV can't imagine how long that took you to make
  17. Thanks for the encouragement folks I realised the mold I'd used had a slight dent in it (wondered why it was at the back of the cupboard lol) Had left it overnight and its getting pretty darned cold here just now. Have been playing with the wax again this evening, now using a proper tbsp measure and it seems just to have a pretty snowflaky pattern rather than big clumps of white going through it, so fingers crossed this one will come out ok. Can't wait to get my wick pins it is a bit of a nightmare keeping the wick straight, but still having fun playing with these.
  18. Hi ya Andrea didn't realise it was you think I've got to let my mum test one of those lol she's been after a berry one for about 6 months but will slip something into your next order . Have to add a bigger house to my list of things to buy lol not enough rooms to test burn in
  19. Yep I'm pouring at 150 I just added the stearic at 180 thought it might help to make mix better. Adding 3 tbsp of stearic as well and its very chilly in here weatherman just said it was going to drop to 0 degs tonight so its certainly not too warm in here lol. I seem to be doing what everyone else is, maybe its the wax :smiley2: I shall keep trying, thanks everyone
  20. Well Scented and JV you now have me determined to crack this rustic pillar thing. I've had a few attempts at the rustics, here are the latest efforts. The brown one had no vybar in it, really didn't like it has nasty snowflake looking clumps through it and had to pratically dig it out of the mold. The two mauve and white ones have vybar in them no snowflakes but not very rusticky Also got me a measuring spoon so I now get proper tbsp too. Should I try and stick with not using the vybar and up the temp for adding the stearic so want to get these nailed
  21. Thanks Sharyl, just read that, thought I was doing something totally wrong lol. I already have SB, in fact I've got so many different wicks here and rather ugly looking rustics that I've made in the past few days I'm testing anything that will burn lol. Got some pillar wick pins on their way so will see how I get on with them. Definitely need more molds and more pouring jugs, can see this rustic layer thing is going to be quite addictive.
  22. Must admit I prefer the concave molds it does seem to give me a better burn, haven't made pillars in ages so its been fun going back to them since I've tried out these rustics. Sharyl have noticed you said you used a FB 24 twisted wick, have I been doing something wrong I've never twisted a wick before. Forgive my ignorance, but how is this done, have seen a couple of messages quoting twisting the wick. I soak my wick in the melted wax before the additives are added and then lay it out flat to dry for a few minutes before threading it through the mold. Is this wrong lol.
