  1. hi all that's the website that i used last year. I had a look at the other website that was posted and boy are they expensive compared to the wholesale company!!!!! Better get the credit card out and hide the bill from hubby!!!!! LOL vickyscotland:yay:
  2. hi all i am trying to buy some 8oz tins for candlemaking and the company that i used last time only ship to the USA. I did have a courier that collected in the USA and shipped to UK but they are no longer doing the service. Does anyone know of any other companies that do these tins and ship to the UK or would any nice American candlemaker be willing to ship them to the UK for me, i cover all costs?? Thanks all vickyscotland:smiley2:
  3. hi there i never thought of doing that, i use decals formy candles, so could i just use the same paper or do i need to use different paper and how do i get them to stick to the candle holder?? vickyscotland:yay:
  4. hi there the building where i have my candle workshop has huge big windows in it at the top and the sun shines down onto the candles all the time and the temp in the place in unreal. so i invested in a refrigrator and fridge the candles when they won;t come out the moulds, works perfectly. flame
  5. Hi all i need to ask a couple of questions but need someone from the uk?? Thanks:p
  6. hi there i just use a big black (clean of course) bucket with a lid on it to keep the wax clean. works a treat!!!
  7. hi all made my first smallish orb today, no pics as it wasn't that good and would rather wait till i was good at them before i post pics anyways i used small cheapish water balloons and they didn't go that big and made more of a tear drop shape than a ball, i managed to get one to work that i made my first orb with. anyways all the makers in the usa usa walmart balloons, just wondering what people in the uk use as I'm not sure what type of balloons to use to get a good dip etc. thanks all vickyscotland:yay:
  8. hi yvette are you using a proper huricane mould?? I use a proper huricane ncadle mould and there is enough room between the walls of the inner mould and the hurricane mould itself to drop orange slices between the 2 moulds. Vickyscotland
  9. Hi Lisa yeah just melt it directly on the heat but u have to kep an eye on the temp, a jam making thermometer is best for this as it gives a good reading and it has a clip that can clip onto the side of the pot. When i first started I had a double boiler but only used it a couple of times, I also went to charity shops and bought pots and pans and they were handy for storing left over wax. HTH Vickyscotland
  10. Hi Lisa I usually get about 3-4 in a coul eof the pots which works out fine if I am just making some pillars. If i'm making a big batch of votive candles, I usemy big stock pot which I bought from Argos, got 5 of them and they are great, then when all the wax has melted I just put it into the smaller jugs and pour away HTH Vickyscotland
  11. Hi Lisa:cheesy2: To be honest, I don't use a double boiler, too expensive and too much time faffing about with it all. I just use quite think metal meausring jugs, as long as you melt the wax at a low enough temp, they work fine. Vickyscotland
