  1. Oh thank you for reminding me of that. YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! Perhaps I can replicate the look in a straight soap bar. Thank you again for reminding me of this, that is VERY important and I had totally forgotten that
  2. :D OH MY, OH MY MY MY. OH can you tell I love those!!! The colors are soooo beautiful. Are they scented and if so with what? I LOVE THEM!!!!!
  3. mmmm well I am not appalled by it and find it interesting at our reactions to it. Breast milk is suppose to be one of the best milks for nourishment and its properties. I also think that the lye and heat would kill the bacteria. It would be interesting to see research done into this. I guess our "phobia" about breastmilk is stemmed from our society I guess. Probably 100 years ago nobody would have thought anything of it and then there was a swing to bottle feeding babies and then back in the 70's 80's back to breastmilk and now with everyone so busy back to bottles. I think it's more the way society perceives it that makes have us have the thoughs we do towards it. If it was proved to be safe and had added qualities that you can not find from any other milk (goat, cow, etc) I would use it. Hey, you never know, perhaps it's the "fountain of youth" for skin and we just don't know it.
  4. I have a question that perhaps you can answer - those that have made salt bars.... Have you ever made these with a vanilla scent and if so did they turn dark brown? I want to make some tonight and am thinking that perhaps I only scent 3/4 of the batch and leave the other 1/4 or perhaps I do a 1/2 and 1/2 unscented (I don't the entire bar to be brown) ...will the part that is scented vanilla leech into the unscented white part and turn it dark too???? Also have you ever added honey to your salt bar recipe and if so did it work or did it cause it to do funky things???? I want to perhaps add honey to the FO free part, the white part (I know it willl turn probably pale gold but that's okay)
  5. Awww, I know the color didn't turn out the way you expected BUT oh they are so so nice looking, your swirls are amazing. I want to make a salt bar like the lavender ones I made but I want to do it red and white and scented them strawberries and cream but I am worried that the red will either turn pink or brick red.... is there ANY red out there that stays true to it's first color when first used?????
  6. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I am truly thrilled with these as I was truly worried last night. I made them really late last night and when I was super tired. By the time I was done and they were in the mold it was 1 a.m. and I knew I couldn't take the chance and go to bed and miss getting them out of the mold if they went rock hard really fast, like my other batches did. So I stayed up and waited and waited, my eyes were closing watching t.v. at 2. a.m. and I checked them and nothing much was happening :undecided and I thought oh oh! There were hot but soft so I thought well I am going to get SOME sleep and hopefully wake-up in an hour or so and check again. I find when I use Lavender EO in soap making that it doesn't behave like other EOs, it's SLOW and I guess last night proved that to me again. So I went to bed and woke up at 3:40 and went and checked on them and thought I best remove them from the wood log mold, which I did. They were still hot but at least harder so I placed them on a cutting board and put parchment back over the block and put a blanket on top and went back to bed. I woke up at 6 a.m and THEY WERE PERFECT and I cut them and I DANCED, lol. I am so happy the way they turned out. Now I will wait and test them and hope they are as nice in the bath as they appear to be in looks. You see this batch was very important to me because I want to make 135 of these for Christmas and send them to a nursing home where my uncle<s wife works - she is a nurse (135 women residents) and I want to secretly send these before Christmas to all the residents and put them in organza bags from SANTA! . Many of these ladies do not get many visitors and I want to make them smile a bit more... so in a few weeks when I test these and if the green light appears, well, will be making some LARGE batches of these.... I am so excited!!!! I love playing SANTA :smiley2:
  7. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING - oh I want to smell that soooooooooo bad, I can only imagine. Anxious to see when you have them cut and I too hope the red stays bright, what a striking combination!!!
  8. :D I absolutely LOVE THEM!!!! They are a true work of art, BRAVO!!!!
  9. I made these Lavender salt bars very late last night and they didn't gel as quick as the others I have made but the final result I am SUPER pleased with and oooooooooolala, they smell soooooooooooooooooo good
  10. For some reason I don't see the pics . They sure SOUND awesome!
  11. Here is the salt bar I made last night. I am in the midst of making a "Spearmint" one (I have an order for those) and going to make a "Lavender one. Will post pics once I get those done as well. Pink Peppermint Twist
  12. Those turned out GREAT! That is one scent I want to try, bet they smell DIVINE!!!
  13. Have you cut them yet? or are they rock hard and unable to cut? I am so anxious to see them cut, a true work of art!!! On the other forum here someone had started a thread saying that "CP soap was boring" and not creative, well that person should come and take a look at these!!!! Nothing boring about those puppies
  14. Just made another batch of salt bars, I tell ya I am ADDICTED! Will post pics tomorrow. They are scented peppermint . Sure would be great when you have a head cold, lol. I am going to call them, since the color is Pink Peppermint Twist
  15. OH MY GOODNESS. I just got out of the tub with the salt bar. I had never tried one before and my skin feels likes a baby's bottom
  16. These are all CP soaps... the dark blue/purple are scented blueberry, the pink and brown (they are pink but not showing up well in pic, dark today in my dinningroom) are scented strawberries and chocolate, the rose formed one are scented "Ginger Lily", the pale yellow are salt bars I tried last night and are scented "Spa". Not sure I would use the "flower" mold again for CP soap, mind you I had no problem removing from the latex mold, they came out like a dream but I think they would be good for glycerine soap making. The salt bars aren't as big as I wanted but I wasn't sure how big of a batch to make for my log mold so now I know to make MORE. Those were FUN to make and they smell nice and strong!!!!
  17. can hardly wait to see these cut. My batch set-up and they are now cut, boy sure doesn't take long. Question, do you cure these as you would normally?
  18. WOWSERS!!!! When I saw the name "Angry Clown" I thought of Stephen King's book and movie "IT". I am in the process of making my first salt bar as I post this but I think I will go for the "it worked" before I ever attempt something like this, lol. Can hardly wait to see cut pics, just AWESOME!!!
  19. That's a great name for it. Well I think Anise (Licorice) is a love or hate scent. You either ADORE it or absolutey LOATH it. I am in the ADORE camp but I can see it wouldn't be something that a woman would use as a body soap just before going into the office for the day, lol. I think it would be a great hand soap for those that cook with onions and garlic. I know I will use it as a hand soap at least after doing my stable chores and I being french do use alot of onions and garlic in my cooking so it works for me
  20. I am not sure what they are, they are darker so I am thinking perhaps the anise powder I added that mixed with the colorant but I did test it and no black came off and on my hands. Since I have horses and am oftened at the feed store where I live... I approached them to see if I could put a few of these bars in their store when they cure. This feed store is not only for animal feed but for gardeners, farmers, fishermen, hunters, etc. Will let you know how it goes. Tonight I am going to try a "whipped soap" wish me luck
  21. I think they look LOVELY. Makes me want to reach into my computer screen, grab one and head for the tub as I have a MISERABLE cold and I know this soap would make me feel a whole lot better
  22. No the streaks aren't powder, I checked. I tried a piece and it was fine . I only made a very small batch because I knew the market for it wouldn't be big and yet ..... since I am also a horse breeder and have lots of critters, the other forum I belong to for horse breeding alot of people would use this soap after handling animals of all kinds so there is a limited market for it and of course for gardeners or fisherman or hunters, etc. This would be more of a handsoap than a body soap. Also for those that cook alot with onions and garlic...
  23. As someone said everyone has their preference. I started with M&P and quickly decided I didn't like the cookie cutter look, but that is just me. I don't particularly like the feel of glycerine only soap either and so that is why I decided to first try HP. I made one batch of HP and decided to try CP and I was hooked. I just find that the soaps made with the fancy molds don't look "real", I don't know how to explain it. I just finished making a few batches one of which is an Anise (Licorice EO) soap and it is certainly not a boring soap to look at. I am absolutely thrilled with the look of it and I love looking at all the creative soaps (CP) that people post pics of on this forum. To me CP is an art form, whereas melt and pour is not, JMHO. Take a look at "Lush" soaps and there is nothing "ugly" about their soaps, that's for sure.
  24. Yes I used EO and I added some powdered anise as well and top the pieces with Anise star. Oh I love the smell of Licorice!!!! WOOHOO!
