  1. If I lived in Minnesota, I would probably buy from Columbus Foods. But maybe someone who actually lives in your part of the country will come along and help, lol.
  2. That turned out absolutely awesome:yay: :yay: . Somewhere in the archives you will find my first soap. What a disaster! You are a natural!!!!!:highfive:
  3. I love that soap! I've been wanting to make kitchen soap forever. Never seem to get on the right track. Your looks great!
  4. Thanks so much for the compliments. Bunny, I have to be honest, lol, I turn the soaps over and stamp on the bottom side. The side you can't see is the bumpy side. Now you know my deepest soaping secret, lmao! E, I wait for about 12 hours. I usually stamp right after I unmold it. It really depends on how hard your soap is as to how many times you hammer. I usually hammer about 6 times. If your soap is soft, it will spread, lol. Be careful!
  5. You're getting pretty creative there, bunny! And yes, Peak's Lavender is stroooong!
  6. Make sure you don't miss the dancin baby in the gallery. We posted at the same time, lol! :yay: :yay:
  7. Oh man, that looks yummah! I still can't make a decent butter:embarasse Your's is lovely looking.
  8. Yahoo!!!!! :yay: :yay: Hey now, wasn't it fun? Just wait till you get it out of the mold and see that you actually did make soap!! I don't know if anyone brought out the dancin baby, but here he is...... Oh yeah, another one bites the dust!
  9. Here are my most recent soaps. The first one is scented with an eo blend of patch, vanilla, lavender, and I can't remember what else, lol. The next one is sandalwood eo colored with black aussie clay. The third one is scented with SW Lemon Verbena with calendula petals added. The fourth one is scented with SoapSilly's Bamboo Sugar Cane and colored with turmeric. The last one is a eo blend of peppermint, clove bud, and something else. Anyway, thanks for looking.
  10. OMG, you're going to do it!!!!! We are all patiently waiting, teedum, teedum! Is it soap, yet??????? P.S. Lye doesn't go "flat" because the mixing of lye and water create a permanent chemical reaction. You can keep lye water around forever (I'm sure that's not the scientific way to explain that, but it's good enough).
  11. I wait anywhere from 12 to 24 hours to unmold, it depends on the recipe. It's difficult to get accurate measurements on small batches of soap, usless you have a scale that measures to the hundredth ounce. Maybe that's the problem.
  12. I soaped it about 48 hours ago. There was a slight acceleration, but not unmanageable (I take a deep water discount), and slight discoloration towards the creamy yellow side. It smells WONDERFUL. I used 1 ounce per pound. I thought that was going to be overkill at first, but it is mellowing out nicely. I'm going to try it in soy wax and lotion. Yum!
  13. OMG, this recipe is the salvation of my skin in the winter, lol. I LOVE it. Not crazy about the sugar part of the recipe. I've been wondering what would happen if I left it out.
  14. I've had soap partially gel in the fridge. That's why I'd rather have my goat's milk soap gel, 'cause I can't stand the partial gel thang! You had a double whammy of honey and goat's milk. It was bound to happen:undecided .
  15. Your recipe looks fine, if that's what you actually put in the pot, lol. Sometimes I get distracted and can't remember what I've added and what I haven't. Anyway, the lye pockets could have come from a separation of the batch caused by too much heat. Do you know what your temps were? As for rebatching, I guess I personally would toss the stuff. Number one, I don't like to rebatch, and number two, I would be concerned that I might have added too much lye. JMHO. Sorry that happened to you.
  16. Are you using the saran wrap to get rid of ash? If that's the case then just spray with rubbing alcohol. Wait until you start to see ash forming on your soap. Then give it a spray. After it dries, spray it again. Keep going until you have a nice shiny surface on top of your soap. If your using saran wrap for any other reason, like insulation, don't. Just cover loosely with a towel. edited to add: I just saw you comment about the towel sticking to the soap. You could cover the mold with saran wrap without laying directly on the soap. Wrap it taut (sp) around the mold so that it doesn't touch the soap.
  17. I do cpop sometimes in the winter when it is harder to get my soaps to gel. But here is a warning: if you are really picky, like I am, you'll notice little bubbles on the top of your soap that you don't get otherwise. If you are using a loaf mold, it won't be that noticeable. But if you are using a slab mold, it's pretty ugly. JMHO.
  18. Woohoo! That old dancing baby is on his way. Where is he? Where is that baby. Oh, here he comes. Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone, and another one gone Another one bites the dust Hey, I’m gonna get you too Another one bites the dust
  19. Okay, Carla is no longer posting, so I feel duty bound to offer up the dancing baby. Where is he? Where is that dancing baby? Oh, here he is. Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone, and another one gone Another one bites the dust Hey, I’m gonna get you too Another one bites the dust
  20. When I saw the name "patchouli haze" I thought "well, it better have some purple in it", lol. That's my age showing because it sounds like a take off on the song "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix. I LOVE the name, but then I'm an old hippy at heart. BTW, your swirlies are loverly!
  21. Add some clove and lime to the patchouli and you have an "Old Spice" blend. My dh loves it. Also, try a "Green Tweed" dupe.
  22. I just got a sample of macademia nut butter from the herbarie and don't know what to do with it. Actually, I think it's just macademia nut oil mixed with hydrogenated oil. Can't figure out the reason for it. If anyone knows anything about, I'd love to hear.:rolleyes2 I know this isn't new to anyone but me, but I just put betonite clay in soap for the first time and LOVE it. Gives the skin a very soft feel.
  23. Thanks, Cindy. I'll check them out, too. It's amazing to me how the price varies from supplier to supplier. I wish I could find a local place that I could just pick up from.
