  1. Ok I attempted my first in the mold swirl. This is what it looks like cut, crappy pic but bear with me lol Anyway I poured the uncolored part first then topped it off with the colored part. Than swirled it around with a knife. Obviously it all stayed on top which is fine. But to get it to swirl through the whole bar, should I be pouring both parts at the same time than knife swirling? Or should I layer the 2 parts than swirl? OR should I pour uncolored than colored, swirl then pour the 2 again continuing to layer and swirl? Alot of Or's huh? Cant wait to get home from work and do this again! I think I am liking this better than cphp. Although I need to buy a few more molds. Any recommendations?
  2. Well here it is cut and smelling great!!! I think I have to get a slab mold to get the look I want. The scent is Millcreeks Rasberry Guava, behaved fantastically! Soaped at room temp and what a difference! The color is Bittercreeks gel tone
  3. I have made this recipe at least 20 times and I have never had that problem. I did have one batch that gave me DOS but it still is a kick arse bar of soap
  4. I am sooo overly excited! I made cp today in my new log mold and tried to swirl in the mold. Not sure if I did it right but I sure tried. Here is a pic of it in the mold. I hope it looks good when its cut!!
  5. Ok I have seen several people talk about the weather affecting thier soap. I was going to make some cp today but it is 83 degrees and may be humid, I dont know. Should I wait for another day or is there things I should be aware of?
  6. ALOT of questions DO I have this correct? Oven process cp you make the soap just like you would cp but then you put it in your oven correct? For how long and what is the temp? I have an unstained wooden mold with a cover-is this what you use? Any tips or advice anyone can give me? I have made quite a few cphp batches and I like them but they are all looking the same. I really havent found anyway to mix it up kwim? Tried cp and like it much better however I am very impatient lol. I want to try oven process just so I can see out of all the methods which I like best. Any help appreciated!

  8. You would thin that would help me but it' still ahuge mess I gave up and decided to use my mini loaf pans instead =o( I waited 3 weeks for this wooden mold to get here and now I am just stuck because I am a little challenged when it comes to lining it
  9. Forget it I FINALLY found it in the searches Does anyone have clear directions on how to line a mold? I bought a wooden log mold and cannot line it. Have been trying for HOURS lol
  10. Man, I can never get my soaps to look THAT good!!! Love them!
  11. I have both Bittercreeks lip balm and www.thesage.com lanolin lip balm. People seem to LOVE the Bittercreek's balm but I cant stand it. I like ones that glide on. So my vote would be one from The sage.
  12. At least you can get a buzz off of yours lol
  13. SoI bought some lanolin about 2 months ago from MMS. I am sure when I bought it I had a plan for it, however I no longer recall what that plan was. I can't find any recipes that call for it and am totally lost on what to do with it? Any suggestions on what to use this for?
  14. Totally feel ya! I want to shove my MIL's head up her ass all the time lol Not my site but I LOVE her stuff and the customer service rocks!! www.zillabaubles.com
  15. thats just gross. I would definately email them and explain why you would like a refund. Ewwww
  16. I use it for cphp at a little under 2% I add it at the begining with my oils.
  17. OMG!!!!!!! Those are sooooooooooo pretty!
  18. LOL I still look in the mirror when doing the zap test. I watch as my finger slllloooooooowwwwwllllllyyyyyy makes it way to my tongue. I chicken out like 5 times before I actually do it. lol Not that it is that bad Im just a chicken
  19. woops I forgot its usually about a few minutes between applesauce and mashed. The whole process takes anywhere between 30-60 minutes, including molding
  20. You can never tell how long it will take. All of the batches I have made have never gone through all the steps pictured. I have seen all of the steps but it never happens the same way. Totally unpredictable process. I learned some tips though that have totally helped! Use full water!! If MMS recommends between 8-12 ounces of water, use 12. It will make a hell of a difference getting it into your mold. You have waaayyyy more time. Plus I stop cooking and start mixing fo's and stuff as soon as it hits the watery mashed potato stage. Basically as soon as it looks like applesauce I am doing tongue zap tests every fwe minutes. As soon as there isnt a zap, I have it off the heat. It makes it soo much easier to work with when it isnt overcooked. After a few batches, I pretty much know when it is almost done. Good luck! Happy soaping!
  21. You can also get lard there and in the pharmacy they have castor oil and avocado and sweet almond oil but in very very small amounts.
  22. Well I did 2, 1 lb batches today. It did take longer to trace! The second one started cooking as I was trying to get it to trace. Maybe I will have to mix the lye and oils before turning the crock pot on? I about to make more right now after I figure out what scents to use. Maybe this time I will just seperate into 2 bowls before adding the scent/color.
  23. Thanks for the replies. I guess I will just weigh by grams to be a little more accurate!
  24. I usually make 2 pound batches of cphp. Is there anything wrong with making a 1lb batch? Usually all the recipes I see are for 2 lbs and up so I was just wondering if there was any reason for this? I have today off of work and want to experiment a little with new scents and dyes that I got. I am guessing there is nothing wrong with this but figured I would ask
  25. Click on soap properties on the top of the soap calc page and it will tell you what each means and what range of numbers you want.
