  1. I have been struggling with the proper amount of fo-I make 2 lb batches. I used 1 3/4 oz that was waaaay too much but smelled great. Used 1 ounce and I think that scent burned off or it was too little. Used 1.5 oz yesterday and it seems to be too much again or I am just having issues lol What is the rule of thumb for cphp?
  2. I am going to try this variation too! Thanks!
  3. Almost neighbors lol I lived on the border of Orland and Homer Township which I think now is called Homer Glen or something lol. Let me tell you, moving here is a HUGE difference from Orland! Although there is alot more to do here, it's like living in the city! Traffic blows! I used to think traffic on Lagrange Road or 159th was horrid lol Here it is much worse, for example I know that if I need to leave my house for something-walmart trip or grocery shopping, I have to be ON the road by 3:15 if not, forget it! I will be stuck in traffic to go 15 minutes down the street for at least an hour both ways. It sucks lol
  4. It wasnt drying at all and had a nice creamy lather. I used avocado 5% Castor 5% Mango 5% Shea 5% Coconut 15% Palm 25% Olive 23% RBO 15% Stearic 2% Used 2 tablespoons of sugar in my water It was a great bar of soap. Of course I tried a variation of it last night and am not too thrilled-subbed the avocado with grapeseed, subbed cocoa butter for shea and used lard instead of palm. TOtally different soap lol Of course when my PKO gets here I am going to take some palm out and plug in pko. I know where Palos is! I grew up in Orland park, just moved out here a year ago. Let me know how your bar turns out!
  5. I already used it. I do sphp so it was ready for my shower today. It was great! I am in Deerfield, you?
  6. I dont have an answer for you, however your recipe looks alot like the one I made yesterday. I didn't have PKO so just upped my palm by 5% and added mango butter too. It was an awesome bar of soap! I am getting PKO hopefully by Monday and was going to incorporate it into my previous recipe. Let me know how you like this one!
  7. LOVE them!!!! Very cute picture as well! I totally want that bowl!
  8. Ya know I am soo happy I asked this! I no longer feel like I am a cluttered mess, EVERYONE IS!! rofl! It all started with a cute little wooden box thingy I got from Ikea that holds all my tarts, in back of that is a 50lb box a wax and a bin with my fo's. Than it turned into 4 gallons on the side-soy whip, glaze, body spray and an empty gallon for my lotion. Than got into soap making-box for tarts now has tarts and oils, kitchen has oils, laundry room has oils/butters, boxes upon boxes of mixed stuff, boxes of bottles in my bedroom with 4 tables of curing soap on racks I stole from our kitchen lol and crap all over. My computer desk which I just cleaned 5 days ago is full of envelopes and labels, a few crystal light cans that I plan on soaping with, fo's, dyes, bubble wrap etc I cant even see the desk anymore lol Lets not even start on my kitchen that was spotless this morning. The counter is no longer visable and it will get worse, after I am done making bath melts, I am venturing into wickless candles-THAT will get messy rofl
  9. I picked up 2 of these yesterday and am itching to try them. Do I have to cut the bottom off? What exactly do I have to do to prepare it? TIA!
  10. I HAVE to organize my house. I have tarts in one corner, gallons of linen spray, lotion, soy whip, scales all over the place, bowls, oils, butters scattered in a corner. This is NOT working. Especially since I know the ups man that I love is bringing me more stuff for the next 2 days plus usps. I have an addicition, I admit it. So how do you organize? I was thinking of making my laundry room into my storage room. Buying a huge set of shelves today from wally world, kind of like garage storage. But if there is an easier way, let me know! Curious to find out how everyone else does it!
  11. OMG! Those are adorable! I could never have the patience to do that! GREAT JOB!!!
  12. Great idea! I am going to buy some when I go grocery shopping shortly.
  13. It was crock pot hp. I have never had any reaction
  14. Well I seemed to have screwed up a bit. Figured I would make an unscented uncolored castille soap today with castor and olive. I should have known better to not make soap when my husband is awake. He was yapping in my ear so much that I totally forgot to spray my mold with pam or olive oil! It's a Wilton's petite loaf pan. I have tried slamming it on the counter, punching it which I do not recommend, it hurts, slamming it on the front porch which can also be hazardous if your head is too close to the pan which I have learned. How the heck can I get this out?
  15. I thought the peanut butter thing was weird but the more I think about it the more I wanna try. I am going to have to quit my job so I can free up some time for soaping lol
  16. Good you let me know how yours turns out and I will let you know mine. Together we will know which ones to stay away from lol
  17. One more thing I should have asked. What exactly on the soap calculator is where the drying comes in? Conditioning? The above recipe had a 55 for conditioning. Should I be shooting for higher on that or lower on something else?
  18. OK my 2nd batch of cphp I used castor-10% Coconut Oil 25% Lard 25% Olive-30% Mango 10% It was a little too drying for me. I dont know if its the coconut oil or what? Anyway as soon as the ups man arrives, I will be soaping again. He will be bringing me palm oil and rice bran oil. I also picked up some grapseed oil, macadamian nut oil and avocado oil. Of course on hand I have safflower, sweet almond, soy, crisco, lard and probably a few others. I ahve been playing with the soap calculator trying to figure out how I can take out the drying effect. Any suggestions? Than of course we have tomorrows package that will include a few more oils. You all are definately right, this IS addicting and expensive lol
  19. I ordered a few shades of gel tones without even thinking of asking for feedback first. Anyway anyone ever use them in cphp soap? I am hoping the color will stay. I think I ordered ultramarine blue, bright green, radiant gold nad lavender. I am hoping that it will work.
  20. I was just reading Miller soap page and there is a recipe on there with peanut butter and honey. http://www.millersoap.com/soapanimal.html It's called Bit o Honey soap. Sounds really interesting!
  21. Not sure howlarge you are looking for. But a soap making friend of mine gave me some petals, ALOT of petals when I was going to make the soap petals. However I just have never found the time. If you would like you can have the ones she gave me for shipping. Pretty soon I am going to just throw them away, so if you would like them. email me traceysdrunk@sbcglobal.net There are probably well over 100 of each color. LMK
  22. oooh I want round soap! Great job!
