  1. Tony's has a nice Island Kiss....but I haven't seen any other dupes. Donna
  2. I think I shall have to bite the bullet and try this famous Black Irish. I read about the new scents coming and yummo! I'm going to need a few of those too! I'm just going to have my pay direct deposited to my favorite suppliers. It would save all the entries in my checkbook!
  3. Well, what does the container say? Most B&B bases are around 1/2%-1%. Donna
  4. hmmmm.....the only thing I've ever gotten DOS in was my unscented bastille. It does smell uber strong of olive oil though (in light of the recent thread about olive oil soap not smelling). Donna
  5. I've never tried TSB's...but Peak has a vanilla hazelnut and a cappuccino hazelnut and both are really good. Donna
  6. Cool looking! I'm with Jadewicks....it looks like the track marks from whatevr use use to make your swirlies (which are awesome, btw!). I use a bamboo skewer...and I'd think that's what it might look like....if it was uber thickening.....maybe. Dunno...but it sure is cool looking! Donna
  7. I'm on RJ's Yahoo group....she posted this the other day: "Someone cancelled the automatic monthly payment with my website host and my website is gone. Kapoot! Unfortunately we can't retrieve anything. It's all gone. Everything. Including all our recipes, calculators, tutorials, everything. No more ordering from our awesome website. No more sharing your fave recipe with your soaping friends. Only someone truly evil would do something like this!!" There was a post last night that they think they will have the site back up in a few days. Donna
  8. Dang! Those look a whole lot better than my soaps! I can't wait to get them. Looks fabu!
  9. I'm lazy....I always copy it off of Peak's website. LOL. Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Castor Oil, Safflower Oil, Glycerine (kosher, of vegetable origin), Goat's Milk, Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent), Sorbitol (moisturizer), Sorbitan Oleate (emulsifier), Soybean Protein (conditioner) and Titanium Dioxide (mineral whitener).
  10. Stayed brown. And now I use Celestial Colors!
  11. If someone finds an Engery replacement, let me know. That and Milk & Honey are my two favorite oils from Solas. GRRRRR. Thankfully I have 3 pounds of milk & honey in reserves. Donna
  12. I ran your numbers...and they are perfectly fine. I'm 99.9% sure that you overheated. Green Clover and Aloe from Peaks is my favorite....but it is a hot one. I soap roam temperature (sometimes I chill my lye water a bit) and try to pour quickly at a thin trace...then I scoot my mold into the fridge for a few days. Donna
  13. I don't have an upland....but the formula is: Length of mold x width of mold x depth you plan to pour at x .4 (that is point four). Now, on their website it says the 12 bar is 2.25 x 3.25 x 1.5 and that looks to be about 9.75 x 9 x 1.5 x .4 and that is 52.65 oz of oils. I'd round it to 52. Donna
  14. I broke down and ordered samples....I'll let you know!
  15. I finally pulled the liquid soap we made on Easter evening off the cure rack and played with it. :tiptoe: I've got issues (when don't I??? ): It's water-thin! Can I thicken this up any? I'm almost ready to do another batch and then dilute the paste into this soap! I did, however, stay VERY clear...and I'm happy for that! It's just way too thin. Also....it's DRYING. My DH thought I had some sort of skin-toned leather-like glove on my hands. :rolleyes2 Can I add anything to it to make it not so drying? Guide me, O Wise Ones. Donna
  16. Well...the only stupid question is the one you don't ask! I was a shower gel kinda girl myself. I had "issues" stemming from my childhood about bar soap. LOL. Not no more! I just lather up the net poufie thing and GO. The key for me to make the bar last the longest is to KEEP IT DRY. If the bar sits in water it will get all slimy grimy and gunky....and it will dissolve (?) faster. Or if the water from the showerhead is aimed at it. We have one of those over the shower head wire basket thingy....(nice description, huh?)....and that keeps the soaps dry between uses (cuz there are like 9 in my shower now!). I don't like using the built in soap dish thingy...even with the raised bumps to keep the soap dry, it still gets wet. Dry different soap recipes to get one that is more moisterizing. When I started to make soap I kept my numbers around 44-45 for hardness (wanted it to last!) and 45-48 for conditioning. And I've had a lot of "squeaky clean" soaps. Now, my favorite recipe is 38 in hardness and 59 on conditioning. One of my ingredients is mango or shea butter always...and that always helps. Hope that helped a bit! Donna
  17. ...anyone tried their reconstructive shampoo and conditioner bases?? Are they any good? I'm not sure why, but suddenly I want to try shampoo and conditioner bases.....AND I have a $20 credit there.... Donna
  18. I slip my soap in and then sort of twist it around until the perforation is where I want it, then hit it with the heat gun...if it's too big, it shrinks right up! FYI...don't aim the heat gun at the perforated area...it will split it right open for ya. Hope that helps a bit... Donna
  19. It's still very pretty.....Love the color! But yeah, that is partial gel there, my friend. Donna
  20. I'm one of "those" people that can't stand the feel of cyclo.....never said I was "normal"! LOL. Anyway....in my notes, I've unearthed this: 3 parts FCO (or jojoba), 1 part FO. I've read some going as high as 50% though. I haven't tried it yet. I did get some roller bottles a bit ago, so I need to play and try.... Donna
  21. Don't you DARE! I love your soap!!! I was up to 9 oils as my "base" recipe.....now I'm back to just the 4. Donna
  22. Sounds like a nice, productive weekend for you, Sue. Let's see....here....we just got back from seeing Iron Man....great movie! At some point this weekend I have to make *something* for CBE's Dog Days of Summer swap before she lynches me. And I have to study. I have 4 final exams coming up next week. EEK! Other than that....I might just ignore the whole candle/soap/b&B stuff and pick up my cross stitching if I have time. Oh yeah....al that is after I finish clearing out the soaps off my curing rack that have been there for 2 months. Good thing I got in 500 Dan's bands from the co-op! Donna
  23. Lookin' good there, lady! You must be feeling better! YEAH! I have GOT to find my blueberry pop and chameleon glitter....they are somewhere in a big box of powders....after the co-op, I still can't look at these colorants without shuddering. ugh. Muah! Donna
  24. Me too! "Out of practice", INDEED! Gorgeous soapies as always, girl. Nah nah nah nah nah nah...I'm gettin' one....I'm gettin' one....
