  1. Well I have a package coming in from Peaks, yipee, on Thursday:yay: and I also have some molds coming in that I won off of ebay. So it looks like the rest of my week will be extremely busy. Trying to get my personal christmas gifts for some of my co workers ready. Hopefully, I'll have some things to show off in the gallery.
  2. Landa, here's the receipe 1/2 cup citric acid 1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup corn starch powdered food coloring 10 to 20 drops of essential oil 1/2 tsp almond oil, sweet spray bottle of water combine citric acid, baking soda and corn starch. Mix well make sure there are no lumps. Add food coloring, add essential oil and almond oil, mix well. While stiring with one hand, spray with water, until mixture can be packed together. Press into molds, allow to set for 30 to 60 min. Invert molds on cookie sheet and tap out, allow to air dry for 4 hrs.
  3. Robin, as always, I love looking at your products!!! Very beautiful, I would most definitely buy a pair or two.
  4. Here are the ingredients I am using: citric acid, corn starch, baking soda, essential oil of lavender, almond oil, water and food color. After I finish going through the basic receipe I pressed into the mold let it sit for about 60 minutes, flipped on a cookie tray and let air dry for at least 4 hrs. Am I missing something??? Some came out okay, but not rock hard. I used some ocean type molds and one was a dolphin. When I popped the dolphin it kinda crumpled up and broke. What am I doing wrong?? I noticed on this board that some use witch hazel and not water. Is there a reason for this, and if so will they keep my bombs hard and not crumbly where they fall apart? Where can I find some good witch hazel? :embarasse Sorry for so many questions, but I wanted them to come out perfect! I feel like crushing them up and trying all over again, is that possible??:embarasse
  5. You can also try http://www.crabapplesoap.com/index.html, they have a cp soap making kit that includes everything, including the lye. It also comes with an instructional videotape that shows and explains how to make cp soap. It' more expensive than the others but it contains everything you need to get started. I am thinking about getting it at the beginning of the year myself. I hope this helps.... Pam
  6. I JUST LOVE THOSE PINK SUGAR VOTIVE, VERY NICE...ESPECIALLY WITH THE SPARKILING TOPS!!!!
  7. tsk, tsk, (shaking head) I can't believe it, Jeopardy music.....melting soy in the microwave, I didn't think you could do that....looks dangerous to me...what about the temp...gosh totally crazy...I'll past .
  8. The slide show just shows pics with no instructions, what kind of nonsense is that and what about testing ?? I still consider myself as being a newbie, but I know that testing is a must in this business. A person can't just melt some wax, add fragrance and color, a wick and pour without testing their product that's a accident waiting to happen. It just bothers me that those who take candlemaking seriously have to suffer because, of a get rich quick scheme as this one. Trust me, I have spent way more than I ever thought when I decided to expand on this hobby and I don't think I've seen half of that come back to me..but I am sure with patience and endurance I will reach my goal but until then it's test, test, and test. Sorry to ramble!!!:embarasse
  9. Hey Jill you must've read my mind because I was just on ebay and saw some cinnamon sticks and thought these might work...i'll keep it mind!!!
  10. Thank you all for all the great ideas....Prudence I like your idea of the gingerbread tart. I will try to incorporate some the ideas that were mentioned, once I get a finished product I'll make sure to post pics!! Thanks again:smiley2:
  11. Thanks Fire, I may have to add that scent to my list too.
  12. I am doing some 16oz apothecary candles for some of my co-workers for xmas....I am looking for a nice gingerbread fragrance or xmas fragrance for my soy candles. I kinda wanted a gingerbread fragrance because I am attaching a gingerbread man to the outside of the container that I got from Printing by Design. But I assume any xmas fragrance would work since gingerbread men are normally associated with xmas right?? My next dilema is this...the tops of my jars has an opening where you can add decorating items or any items of your choice i presume...I would like for the item of course to be associated with xmas, any ideas will be considered. Thanks
  13. I would like to know if anyone has there name registered with their state and if so are you also Registered Nationally with a Trademark? I've been debating back and forth with this for a long time. I haven't sold any candles or any of my products yet due to the fact I want to make sure I have the legal aspect of it together. Right now, I only want to register within my state, but do you think it would be beneficial in the long run if I register nationally with a trademark. I would hate for anyone to use my name and register it Nationally and it becomes a major business and becomes profitable.....gosh I am really baffaled (sp?) by this , any advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks
  14. Lindsay, your soaps are almost good enough to eat!! lol Very nice!!

  16. I am partial to color, so I would have to say that I love the Sleepy Time and the Cocoa Butter Dream..I bet that Cocoa Butter Dream smells real nice !!! I only wish that my first CP soaps turn out just as nice, keep up the good work, by the way if you need any testers, I will be more than happy to try the Cocoa Butter Dream!!!!
  17. if a fragrance is not only candle safe but good in soaps if there is no disclaimer? Is there some type of test to find out if a particular fragrance is okay not only in candles but in soap too? Just a thought....
