  1. I found this one another board yesterday, hope I don't get in trouble for posting this, if so just delete it. oops it didn't work i will type it out 1 1/2 c flour 1/4 c salt 1/4 c cornstarch 2/3 c boiling water 2 Tblsp FO choice of color mix dry ingred. heat water and add FO & color. pour into flour mixture. it should be like pie crust. if you want you can add a few drops of food coloring before you have it all together and it will give you a tie dye effect. roll out to about 1/4" . cut with cookie cutters & let dry until they are hard. might take up to 3 days. they will hold their scent for several months.
  2. I think this is just totally awesome and I am sure it is a lot of work on you guys. I don't know who's idea it was to start this classroom thing but hats of to you and each and everyone of you who teach us.
  3. Wonderful explaination Del, thanks for coming on here to clarify all this for us.
  4. Good question bren but then again who knows. I mean really if they can patent the word 'tart' they can probably patent 'mottled' as well. It's crazy if you ask me
  5. Since Cargill has partnered up with ISA why not just give ISA a call and ask them since you are not satisfied with the information Cargill is putting out. Personally I think the Cargill website sucks for information. I have found more info from the ISA than anywhere. Here is their # if your interested 1-800-735-0195. HTH
  6. Thanks for the links stella those where very helpful
  7. Don't get mad at me for saying this but I think you guys are all reading way more into this than you need to. Sure it is going to have other ingredients in the formula but they wouldn't call it soy wax if it wasn't. I am sure it has to have a certain % (my guess 85% at least) of soybeans in the formula to be called 100% soy wax. Does it have other ingredients in it ? Probably. Do you honestly think you can take soybeans without any other ingredient/additives and make it a candle wax? Probably not. With that said I went on a search just for the heck of it and I found so many links I don't know which ones to post. However I did find this info I thought you might find interesting which makes my theory correct. I figured these were the links that might convince you. Acually the patent to nature wax is owned by the Indiana Soybean Board not Cargill they only have the exclusive right to market the product and distribute. Anyway hope this helps you http://www.indianasoybean.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=39&Itemid=61 http://www.iasoybeans.com/checkoff/soycandleshistory.html http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6599334.html?highlight=indiana,soybean,board,candl,wax&stemming=on
  8. Oh, I agree, it is not Fillmores problem. It is not like Fillmore makes this wax. Besides the weather conditions on the bean crop have alot to do with it I am sure. I just needed 4 cases and it didn't matter where I got the wax from as long as I got the best price on the wax plus shipping but I felt it didn't hurt to ask if the wax I was purchasing was that lot number (I don't need any problems right now cause I am still getting ready for a festival). I have to run space heaters if my house gets down below 72 deg just so the wax doesn't pull away from the jar. I also agree fillmore has not been a problem dealing with in my experiences but then again I have not ordered wax from them just containers & samples of FO. Good points as always Top !
  9. Actually soybeans produce the biodiesel and corn produces ethanol so both are means of fuel
  10. Check with Early American Candle Suppy. I just placed an order for 4 boxes of C3 he said it will ship Monday and I will have it by Wednesday afternoon. Shipping total was $70.45 to a commercial address. I am glad I saw this thread I asked about the lot # posted in the above thread their lot # was NOT it
  11. I have to comment on this, I don't mean to sound negative but just the facts that I see on my end. Yes, you are right crude oil is going up but what you may not know is that we (farmers) are getting a very good price on our soybeans right now. I believe this is due to the bio-diesel plants that are springing up everywhere. On one hand I can't complain because we are getting better prices for our crops but I can almost guarantee your soy wax prices will keep going up. Maybe I am wrong but I am just stating what I see happening on the farm. Prices will filter down the channels which makes me think soy wax prices will increase as well. How long it will last is anyones guess, the soybean market could bottom out and end tomorrow and then again it may stay this way for awhile or even keep climbing in prices. This is however just my opinion and correct me if I am wrong.
  12. Ok I finally got my orange after playing with the suggestions. Thanks everyone you saved me once again. I really should buy another color wheel, I have one here somewhere but I keep thinking I will find it. Thanks for the links too !!
  13. I just received a couple testers from them as well. I got leather & lavender. I am pouring them today so will let you know in 2 or 3 days after cure what I think. I hope the leather works out. I am looking for a true leather that smells like a saddle. I am using C3 so we will see.
  14. I am using the dyes from natures garden and to be honest I really don't like them. I plan on ordering dyes from somewhere else but I don't really want to purchase JUST dyes because of shipping so I am trying to make the best of what I have right now. I do have some rediglow chips but it leaves specs of dye in the bottom of my container. I melt the dyes when I melt wax but it doesn't matter how much I stir they are still there. I never thought of adding red, I will have to try that. I am playing around with halloween colors. I gave up on black nothing seems to work with that either. To get a true black it clogs the wick. I do order from BCN sometimes I will have to try their dyes next order. Thanks everyone, I guess I will go play with color for awhile.
  15. I am trying to get a vibrant orange and I am having such a terrible time. Any suggestions out there ? The straight orange isn't very orange if you ask me, looks more like a peach color (this could be my problem??). I am up for any suggestions.
  16. If it was me I would call and ask them to explain what it means. That way you know exactly what is going on with no surprises in the end.
  17. Try Fillmore for your C3 (thats where I get mine) it's only 40$ a case. Call them though their shipping quotes are off on their site. It was $6 cheaper per box to ship for me than what the quote was. Find someone who will let you ship to their commercial address
  18. 40$ case 22$ shipping (commercial address) Thats from PA to IN
  19. Call for a more accurate shipping quote, I know Fillmore's is off on their website. The shipping quote I received was $6.00 cheaper per box than what the website said when I got mine. There are other websites that have the same problem so don't always go by that.
  20. I have found that twisting a wick makes a difference IMO. I tried twisting before I glued the wick in the jar and that didn't work out so well (sometimes the wax on the wick would break). Now I twist my wick after I have poured the wax then I secure to my wick holder. Not sure how everyone else does it but I just discovered this awhile back and it works for me.
  21. I just contacted the supplier and they are shipping me a new one out and I am returning the other one. I had to purchase another one and when he gets mine I will get a refund. Very nice people to deal with.
  22. I just purchased a new impluse sealer and the darn thing won't work. The light comes on, it makes this little hum when pressed down but for some reason it doesn't even seal the bag, let alone cutting it. I have turned it up all the way just to see if that made a difference and it didn't. What am i doing wrong !!! ???
  23. Ok this brings up a question that I am totally confused about but it doesn't refer to candles. In one sections it says...........you must list the manufacturer (section 1453 #1) soo say you purchase lotions or lip balms from another company do you have to list it as "manufacturered by XXX business/company for XXXX company" ?? Am I making sense ?? I wish someone would put my mind to ease because I have read this several times.
