  1. I may be wrong but doesn't taylored concept have those ?
  2. Yep my warmer is big enough to cover the base. It is really old maybe it isn't getting hot enough anymore. Takes forever ! Anyway I will let ya know how it turns out I am gonna try to wick them up one more time in a couple of days
  3. That is what I am finding out. I have tried on 2 different occassions. I was hoping someone had better luck. If I can't get these jars wicked I need to figure out something else to use them for. I can't stand the thought of not being able to use them for something. Wickless doesn't work either, takes too dang long for them to melt. At least I only bought 2 cases. Any ideas what I could use them?
  4. Has anyone used these jars in pure soy? Did you find them hard to wick or is it just me ? They are called 7 oz reverse tapered jar, 3 1/2 H x 3 D Thanks for any suggestions
  5. my old coffee maker, i use it to keep my pour pots warm
  6. This is an excellent thread. I was ready to make soap, have bought everything I need to start but I have been side tracked on candles lately. When I am ready to soap (couple more months) I hope everyone is still willing to help us newbies. I just want to say thank you to all of you who have volunteered information and are willing to help us. Big kudos to all of you !!!
  7. Very nice !!! Love your labels !!
  8. I got really bad sunburned earlier this year and I remembered my grandmother always using apple cider vinegar when I was a child and I used that and I didn't even peel. It still hurt a little that evening but nothing like it did before I used it, when I woke up the next morning I didn't even know I was burned. You could try it but I would make sure their isnt any noxema on his skin it might not react well with vinegar. Just my experiences though
  9. Those look very professional. Not to rain on anyones parade but won't those bags zap the scent since they are polyethelyne ?
  10. Just Go To Bcs To The Newsletter Archives, Its The July Edition , It Will Tell You Whats On Sale And Yes All Closeout Fo Are 5.99. Can Hardly Go Wrong For That Price I Ordered Several
  11. Well, I finally made up my mind and I want to thank everyone who gave me suggestions. Here is what I finally come up with. I am having a lady design my labels for me and she suggested a western theme to go with my business name and I just couldnt see putting a western name on a scent called 'sexy as sin' so thats how I come to my decision. Since my business name is totally country/western related I have decided to rename all of my scents to cordinate with it. So this way when I change the names of scents I can color them accordingly. I am terrible at designing things and I finally gave up after a year of trying, I am so excited I can't wait to see what she comes up with. Thanks again everyone
  12. Hi everyone ! I have been playing around with various colors of brown for chia tea and I am just not cracked up about this brown. Its either too dark or too light for my taste. I know it's suppose to be a light brown. When I buy candles I just can't seem to bring myself to purchase a brown candle sooo does anyone have any suggestions? I thought about adding a touch of black to it but I have wasted so much wax trying to get a different color I thought I would ask here first. Another question I have is..........I purchased ylang ylang and patchouli and I can't stand either one of them. What other fragrance could I mix with these ? thanks for any input
  13. I don't know if this is possible or not but I am trying to design a label and I have a picture that is rectangle but I would like for it to be oval. Is there any way of doing this or am I asking for the impossible? I am using avery design. Do I have to use another program to edit the pic as an oval then import to the avery program ? I have been trying to figure this out for hours and I just can't find a program to do it and I sure don't see an option for that on the avery design program. Any help would be appreciated
  14. Has anyone else tested this color stabilizer in soy by chance. If so, are you experiencing unsmooth tops after the candle has cooled verses the others you have used ? thanks nitra

I saw witch hazel at dollar general the other day, might be cheaper than a CVS or drug store
  16. I have label problems too, I find that when I print the last 2 row sometimes even 3 rows print off the label so I started printing the top 2 or 3 row and then turning the paper upside down & printing so now they all print within the circle HOWEVER they are a little off center regardless of being centered in the program I am using. I bought Avery labels and use Avery program. I gave up on the online labels.
  17. I am not sure if there is a program or not (there probably is) but I spend way too much already so I put mine in excel and when I use something I subtract it from inventory. That way I know what I have on hand plus the fact it will make year end inventory more simple. I also put the unit price on it as well. Every time I get a shipment of something in I put it in my inventory. It took me forever to get organized but it its paying off already. I don't have to go thru all my stuff to see if I have everything I need to make whatever I want. Soooo simple to just pull up the excel sheet and see. I have it broken down ......soaping, candles, pkging, equipment etc
  18. I am glad this come back up. I have seen post that they last 2 months. Mine last about 3 weeks and I can't figure out why so I emailed bell and they said 2 to 3 weeks. So how are other ppl on here getting theirs to last so long?? I used quality FO so I am baffled. I tested them in my car, tested in my house and its all the same no more than 3 weeks
  19. I would want them also cuz I am the curious type I just HAVE to know if I have done a good job at something and this is just one extra step to keep me in line (maybe its a mental thing) The PH strips at MMS are 2.00 for 100 and that link I posted with test results from various PH strips were 16.00 for 100........big difference, they always say you get what you pay for but hey who knows
  20. I was researching this very thing yesterday and this is what I found. Very interesting article its definitely worth the read. I would have never thought they would have varied so much www.millersoap.com/phtome.html
  21. thanks everyone. the reason i asked this question is someone emailed me this recipe and i printed it out and deleted email and now i can't find my email anywhere (im so unorganized) anyway i remembered it had these oils in it so i thought i would ask here. i shoulda put my results from soapcalc in my msg that i come up with but i wasnt for sure if they were right or not so i just left that part out and asked. i have started printing stuff out and i have not gotten everything in a binder yet for notes, crap is strung out all over the place, just too much stuff going on with graduation and birthdays etc this month. i will work on this more next week when things settle down......maybe i can even make some soap lol
  22. I need help figuring out what % to use on these oils can someone please help me. I have tried to figure this out in soapcalc but I just dont know enough on how to figure the right percents yet Olive Oil coconut oil palm oil soybean oil castor oil cocoa butter poppy seeds i don't have cocoa butter is there something else i could use ?
  23. My son wanted something for his daughters mother for mothers day so I made this basket for him. I wish I had taken a picture before I wrapped it up. It is wrapped with tulle on all 4 sides with crinkle shreds ......(large jar) milk bath, 2 candles, oatmeal soap (morning glory mold), tarts
  24. Thanks everyone for your advice. I am honestly learning more from this board than I am from books. The tutorials here are great and so are the ppl who help. Takes a lot of research but it will be worth it. I have so many bookmarks from you guys on here, sometimes it gets mind boggling trying to figure it all out. After reading books I was more confused than I was before I read them. I read the tutorial today and it was so much more simple to understand, the pictures helped me, I am a visual kinda person.
  25. Yep I thought it was on the expensive side too after looking up all the oils but I just picked out a recipe in this book to get some feedback on some of these recipes in it. thanks for all the info CB I knew someone would chime in. I haven't read this book from cover to cover just bits and pieces and pieces. To be honest I am starting to wonder if these recipes in books are as good as the ones you find online or here on this forum. On the forum you can at least get feedback on one. Not everyone is going to be the same but you cant get feedback from a book that is for sure. I like playing with the soapcalc but man o man there are so many variations. I am not trying to make my own recipe I will stick to tried and true good ones until I get some experience under my belt. Well speaking of hazelnut here is one from the other book and its description 17.5 oz hazelnut 10.5 oz palm kernel oil 8 oz water 3.9 oz lye this soap lathers very well and is highly moisturizing. do not insulate or warm this soap as its setting. this is out of 'smart soapmaking' have a nice day everyone annettra
