  1. yes, there are alot of variations to the bath bomb recipe. Most peeps explain their rationale as to what works for them. I suppose experience is the best teacher though so I would recommend jumping in and trying one out, see what the results are and then tweak from there as needed. Since there are so many variables that come into play, namely climate conditions, that is really the best way to begin. Good luck
  2. Don't forget rosepetal soaps! They are perfect for mother's day.
  3. Peak's has a really nice one. Bubbles 'n Lights has one called Pomegranate 'n Anise that is to die for!! (why is it i can never remember how to spell that word! Hope that's it 'cuz i'm too lazy to look LOL)
  4. I can tell ya from first hand experience that the lavender buds WILL turn black as will other botanicals.
  5. Wonderful!! Glad it went so well for ya
  6. Top seller?!! That's awesome Mer! Congrats to you!
  7. And the other thing to consider is that you made approx. 100$/hr!!! WAhoooooooooo! Congrats!
  8. That's awesome Callie! Good luck the rest of the w/e.
  9. Sharyl, I got it just in time and thanks! I think i can get off alot cheaper than a happy meal with andrew. Seems little Mr. Man LOVES bath bombs!!!! lol
  10. Thanks Sara. This was the first time I presented my products in someone else's home and I don't know that it is something I will make a habit of as it is a HUGE PITA hauling all the crap to and fro. Jury is still out on it though. OnNe plus to it is that i don't have to have my house "company ready", so that's a good thing, but on the flip side, it is a bit more convenient having at my house. I've got to think a bit more on it.... I like to keep it simple. I don't play any games or give any type of "formal presentation". Alot of peeps around here are way burned out on the whole "home party" thing. I simply use my home as a sort of store front, allowing peeps to browse and shop uninterrupted, much as they would in a store (only with no pesky sales people putting on the pressure). I make myself available to answer questions and give instruction on products that peeps might be unfamiliar with (aka bath bombs and body butter), but for the most part, I just hang and mingle. Seems to work best for me this way.
  11. Not at all! Last year I had mine on December 12th and made close to 2 g's!! 99% of the peeps were buying last minute gifts. FYI, the gift sets were a huge hit! Especially since people didn't have to package and wrap. The gift was all ready to give... Good luck~
  12. I've always liked spring rain.
  13. Damn! Gotta clean house over here too! lmao
  14. You guys ROCK! Thanks so much for being so supportive! The risers were custom made by a friend. They aren't collapsable but they are very light weight. They are made of a sort of "pressboard". The gift boxes came from a local craft store, similar to hobby lobby. I painted them and my sweet mother helped out with decorating the lids. and that little "helper", Andrew, I love that little man! He knows how to work a room lol
  15. Thought I'd share these with you. It was a little difficult setting up in someone else's home without my usual props. Furniture (i.e., coffee tables, end tables, etc) was at a minimum since my friend had just moved into the place. We made due with what we had on hand. The little boy (andrew) in the pics is my friend's oldest, he's 6 and was quite the "floor manager". That kid was crackin' me up. He kept workin' the crowd, telling them, "The candles are buy three get one free". Then as people were smelling candles and commenting on how they liked them he'd say "Well buy it" LMAO . He even helped bag up everyone's stuff and put a brochure in everyone's bag. Overall it was a decent night. Out of 45 that said they were coming "for sure", only 15 showed up, but out of that 15 I made 650.00 and got two potential wholesale accounts as well as a booked house party. Did not sell any body butters but I attribute that to not having a sample out. I did sell a TON of bath bombs, bar soaps, lotions and sugar scrubs. Only sold one bear, which is very suprising to me for this time of year... Some of the pics turned out crappy. Hopefully Santa will bring me a new digital camera this year!
  16. I've used rubber stamps on cp soap while it was a bit soft and it worked great! I would think it would work on mp soap as well.
  17. i love those!! I feel your pain Robin. I'm dealing with only 6 wick pins LOL!
  18. I hadn't thought of that Robin. Maybe I'll bump it to a Tuesday nite then. I know my w/e's are pretty busy this time of year as well, so i'm glad to hear that others are thinking along the same lines as me.
  19. In the past, I've conducted open houses during the w/e, however with all the holiday parties I am contemplating a weekday. I'm wondering if this will pose more of a hardship for people if its during the week vs. the w/e. I was thinking of a wednesday from 4 - 8 pm. Any thoughts?
  20. I'm really diggin' those Trish! I wouldn't stop using the different colors. I think they are very striking!!
  21. Love this mold!! This baby is a 3 pounder!! Got a little somethin' for everyone; rustic, solid, mottle LOL (It better sell at the open house!!)
  22. Sara, you really can't get much easier than the "Dan's Shrink Bands" from MMS. They protect the soap from handling, yet allow visibility of the soap. The ends are open so the soap scent can be detected.
