  1. You can get the mold from Candlewic.com, it's a real time saver for sure. You wick them when you take them out of the mold, it is so easy. But beware, not all tealight cups will fit the tealights that come out of that tealight mold. I only buy my cups from Candlewic.com since the mold was designed to use with thier cups. If anyone knows of a place that sell the exact same cups as candlewic please post. I got some from Candlescience, they sure look the same, but they must be just a hair smaller cause I really have to push those tealights from the Candlewic mold into those cups, they don't work well at all.
  2. I'd be curious to hear what she says. I have been doing tealights for 6 years, always in plastic cups. I had one that caught on fire, and it was my own fault. I put a wick that was way to big in the tealight cause I had an oil that I just couldn't find the right wick for. I sell a lot of tealights so I was determined to find a wick that would burn this oil. I now have a bathroom vanity with a dark brown burn spot on it. BTW....that fire only melted 1/2 the tealight cup, didn't look like the total meltdown that you have.
  3. DH had a friend who buys homes for rentals. One of his renters got caught making meth. He had to tear down all the sheet rock and re-do it, was the only way he could get the smell out. He sold all his rentals, to many problems, not to mention expense.
  4. Sorry Rob, don't know the answer. Carrie, I just learned of that this past year, DH was reading it on the label, couldn't believe it. Just goes to show you're never to old to learn things :rolleyes2
  5. I'm not here to step on anyones toes, and I agree, each and every one of us has our own idea of the "strong throw". But I found that Indo Teak was the strongest throwing candle I have tested with the 70/30. I had 2 votives burning at our lake cabin (large open area) and for the first time in 6 years I had to move one votive to the back of the cabin cause it was just to strong. I'm using just 6% with all GL's oils, and it's plenty, but will go down on the Indo Teak next time. I just find it very odd that what throws for one doesn't for another. But I have also found the same with wicks, what works for one doesn't for another. Guess that's why we continue to test, test, test. But I do love that Indo Teak, my favorite by far.
  6. Those are just beautiful, excellent color choice.
  7. I've been using Select Shades for several years, and never had a problem with them. I think they just had one batch that was bad, that doesn't make it okay, but I would imagine after that they are pretty careful with their testing. I also love the vibrant colors you can get with the SS. I have LabColours too, and I love them, but when I need a good bold color I use the SS, with the LabColours you have to use to much.
  8. I may be wrong, but I thought I read that you should only leave them in the freezer 7-8 minutes, just long enough to get hard. I think by leaving them in to long they would have some condensation on them just from beeing in the freezer and then taking them out to a warm room. Someone corrrect me if I'm wrong on this. I did the 7-8 minutes and they were perfect. Wrapped them in foil, and some that are 6 months old are still just fine. I keep them wrapped and in a plastic shoe box.
  9. I've been using mineral makeup for over a year now, from Bare Essentials. I will never go back to liquid makeup. You'll love the way it's so light feeling, like you have nothing on, and it covers a lot better than you'd ever think it could. I started with samples from ebay, then ordered from QVC, then picked up on the infomercial. It lasts a long time, but I usually don't wear it if I'm staying home. I liked the "package deals" from QVC and the infomercial because you then get the brushes, and they have some really nice brushes, but to dang expensive to order on their own.
  10. i'm no pro at this, so you might want to take this with a grain of salt. But after spending days reading every thing I could about HG scrub, I thought I'd try what some others were doing..........melting their butters, adding that to the oils, mixing by hand, just long enough to incorporate, and letting it sit all day or over night. Then I mixed it with my cheapo Sunbeam stand mixer, for no more than 15 minutes, making sure it didn't double and fall. I've used several jars, and one jar sitting down stairs as my tester is doing just fine, same as the day I made it, maybe just a bit harder. That was about 2 months ago. I'm going to make it again soon, and will do it the same way, just to see if it was beginners luck, or if letting it sit helps to keep it from falling or seperating.
  11. I agree, Peaks is one of the best suppliers out there. They seem to always go above and beyond what is expected of just plain good ole CS. And I am always amazed at the speed they get the order packed and shipped off.
  12. Thanks for the info Fredron. I gave up on them too, they went on nice, looked great, then days or weeks later the pesky bubbles appeared. Very annoying to say the least.
  13. I'd like to know the answer to this also. It's hard to tell in the picture, but I just assumed it didn't have the built in measurement since it's so much cheaper, can someone please tell us if it does.
  14. Hey Chris, how the heck are you? How many drops of catnip are you adding to 8 oz of lotion, or are you adding it directly to your BB blend. I think I have a 4 oz bottle of the BB, so do you think around 1/4 tsp of catnip would be to much to add into that? I sure don't want to go over board with it, I gag everytime I smell that catnip EO, but on the other hand I want enough in it to be effective.
  15. So sorry to hear about your health problems. Only important thing at this time is to get back to being strong and healthy. Take care of yourself, you are number one at this moment, sending prayers for you.
  16. AS always, your work is beautiful, it's always fun to see what you're making.
  17. I agree with Juliette, it would be a shame not to use the crates, they are very nice, maybe play with how they are used. The presentation looks great to me, I would stop and shop in a booth like yours, so maybe people just weren't in the buying mood. One thing I've learned, you can never judge what the public wants from one show to the next. Don't let this one show get you down.
  18. That's how I sample my whipped shea, with a wooden spatula. But dang it, even with a sign, the spatulas sitting right next to the jar, a tiny garbage bag for disposal of the spatula, all in plain sight, there will always be someone that sticks that darn finger in it, just chaps my hide when I see that:mad: Sorry, just venting :lipsrseal I still believe the spatula is the way to go, but you really need to keep an eye on it and TRY to catch those who just want to rub thier fingers in it.
  19. Best advice I can give you is to not worry about the wet spots. All the big candle co. have them, and people really don't care if they are there, we are the only ones who care, we really are our worst critics. Some waxes will pull away from the sides of the glass, therefore, no wet spots, but most of the waxes leave a wet spot or two. You'll just stress yourself trying to get rid of them, cause sooner or later it will come back when you think you've taken care of the problem.
  20. I do mine the very same way as AJ, works great. Just as AJ does, I go by weight, so as long as I'm getting my 2 oz in my 4 oz jar I am happy, and that doesn't usually take a lot of banging.
  21. Ann, the basexneck is only about the wick tab, it has nothing to do with the size of your container. Most wick tabs are 20mm, another popular one is 15mm, which I use for all my tealights because they are smaller and fit into the small indentation in the bottom of the tealight cup. The "neck" refers to how tall the tabs neck will be. Some like to have it as high as 9mm so a person can't burn the candle to the very bottom of the jar, it will go out at 9mm. I use the 3mm because I have never had a problem with them and have used them from the start. Finding a wick that will work in your jar will just require testing. HTH
