  1. You're welcome!! But it really is dusturbing to know that the people at the post office who are supposed to be the ones to inform us on what and how we ship items doesn't know the answers, that is scary.
  2. Here is a good link, it's been brought up many times. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10166&page=2&highlight=usps+flashpoint
  3. Yes, it is very hard, that's why I started everything with samples. I did buy a full jar of the mineral veil, but the rest I just sampled till I found what worked best for me.
  4. I made the mistake of ordering just the sample of the Violet Musk cause I really didn't expect to like it. I was surprised, it's my number 2 favorite now, after Indonesian Teak. I didn't get it in wax yet, but I heard it was really strong, need to try to get that poured tonight. If only there were 4 more days in the week or else 8 more hours in the day
  5. I do the same as AJ but don't put them in a plastic sleeve, that's a good idea, cause I've got some wax and oil on a few of mine (actually on a LOT more than a few). I use the larger 4x6 cards, can put more info on them, then bought the alphabet index cards and keep them in a recipe box. I've got three of these darn boxes now, since I've changed wax 3 times, and now I have to start another one for the new wax I'm doing. Sounds crazy, but we all know the work that goes into testing, and how important notes really are, so if I ever decide to go back to one of the other waxes, I'll be set to go.
  6. I aksed this same question of Candlewic and I was told there was only one wick that I needed to wick the correct way...that was years ago and now I can't remeber which it was. I'm thinking it was the RRD, does anyone know for sure? I always make sure I put the cut end into the wick that way I don't have to worry about it.
  7. I'd have to agree with Tara. You should have an idea of what sells for you, but as you know, you can never know what the public will want from one week to the next. I think it's better to have to much than not enough, so take as much as you can. I would then have a plan for a house party or open house in case you end up with a lot of products left over that you may not want sitting on your shelf till the next show you have.
  8. I agree, they are all geat. Ones I like so far: Indonesian Teak Violet Musk--wasn't expecting to like this but I really do Gardenia Petals Key Lime Pie Maduro Eucalyptus--will be great next winter when I'm stuffed up from a cold Rainy Nights
  9. Seems like I read about this over on The Dish, and they were using micas.
  10. Yes, like Beth said, they will order for you. Also if you have a Michaels around you can get them at great savings when they have a sale.
  11. What a great idea. I ditto all the ideas already mentioned, each and every one of them is what I'd like to see. Can't think of anything to add to the list. Good luck!!
  12. Well if I sold 50 wicks to someone and it's only going to cost .87 to send it first class, there is no way i'm going to charge them 4.05 priorty just cause it's easier for me. I'll make the trip to the post office to make it cheaper for them. I'd like others to do the same for me, shipping is a killer for us anyway, so when it can be done by first class I'm all for it. That was the reason I started this thread, I was looking for a way to ship parcel or first class from home. I like click n ship but they won't let me ship parcel or first class, so I'm thrilled to know that I can do it via paypal. Now, if paypal just would let me use my click n ship labels that I have I'd really be a happy camper .
  13. It only takes one jar that has been used before to loose it's integrity and crack. If it starts a fire, is it really worth the money you've saved. I think not. I know my customers would love it if I would refill their jars, but I just won't do it. I've used some of my testing jars over and over and over with no problems, but who knows when that first time it cracks will be. Therefore I am also very careful of where I test my candles, just in case it does crack.
  14. Thanks all, that gives me a few options of where to get it. I never would have looked in the organic BEAUTY section of the store
  15. I want to try some vco, but don't want to order 7 lbs of it from soaperschoice.com. Is this something I might find at a specialty type store around town? I don't recall seeing any in the grocery stores around here, but it's been a while since I looked, and I don't even remember where I looked. TIA
  16. Great!! Just what I needed to know. A lot of times I send things out parcel and in order to do that I was going to the post office, you all know what a PITA that can be. So if it was paid via paypal I can just use their shipping, and like you said Angela, they already have most of the info so it's a time saver too. Thanks again ladies.
  17. You should be able to find Bohunks sugar scrub recipe on The Dish, also the emulsified version called the Holy Grail, in fact, it might be here on the CT. You might do a search for it.
  18. Well I don't make it, but I would assume part of the warning would be "keep away from children and pets". I thought it was something that the adult would control, THEY would spray it for the child. Am I wrong? I'd never let a child take control of something like that.
  19. What are the pros and cons of click n ship and paypal shipping. I've always used the click n ship and never used the paypal shipping. Is one easier than the other? I know I can't ship parcel post with click n ship, can you using paypal shipping? Just wondering if I'm missing something. TIA
  20. Yep, had it over wicked cause it was a stubborn FO, put it on my bathroom vanity, and I looked in on it and the whole thing was on fire, including the plastic tealight cup. Learned not to over wick, and to test burn on my stove top. Now have a scorched vanity top I've been making tealight for almost 6 years, I make a lot of them, but this was a first, it was also the first time I put such a large wick in (and the last), so this was 100% my fault, a real stupid move on my part.
  21. I agree that DH can handle the show, he might surprise you with sales But I don't agree with keeping the grandbaby in a hotel. To me that is crazy. I jump at the chance to see my grand daughters, in fact, I watch them both every day, a one year old and a 5 mo. old. But I would NOT want to sit in a hotel room all day with them. And I personally think it's unfair to both you and the baby. I feel it would be in the best interest for the baby to be in his/her own home where grandma can watch him/her. Sounds like grandma is just to nice, this grandma would have said "I'd love to watch the baby...in my house or yours". Just my 2 cents worth.
  22. I agree with Tess. Since I once had a fire bomb, I burn them all the way through and only on my stove top.
  23. I use a wire crimper, but I use the sta-kon brand. It is heavy, but it doesn't bother me at all. I'd be interested like top, to see how it compares to a jewelry crimper (they seem a lot smaller).
  24. Oh yes, it's beautiful, I love it. Colors are so nice and it has a nice calm look to it.
