  1. What's the best way to explain to the public what cyclomethicone is without scaring them. I know a lot of people who don't know what the ingredient is just won't buy it, and now I'm doing body sprays and I'm afraid they'll look at the ingredients and see cyclo and drop it like a hot potato. TIA
  2. Those molds can be tricky to clean. If you use to much FO it will eat away at the plastic, and it mas color the plastic. I've just used a heat gun to warm up the wax and then wipe it out. Hope someone else has a better idea, I just never had any luck with my polycarb molds.
  3. Like Trish said, make sure you have a contract!! Also, if doing consignment make sure you know up-front what % she will be taking from the sales. Basically, you just have to have all your ducks in a row, better safe than sorry. Good luck
  4. Wow, those look great, coloring is wonderful!
  5. For some reason this FO sells the best for me too. I'm always looking for a really true Christmas Tree scent, and have yet found one, and I think I have now tried them all, so I keep searching but continue to use the Mistletoe cause I know people like it.
  6. Thanks Bunny, I have a ton of rubbermaid boxes I can use. Not much humidity around here, but it's raining like crazy so I won't take the chance.
  7. Well Bunny, glad I could give you a good laugh at my expense...jk. So do tell, what did the cocoa butter taste like? Never took a bite of that, but I would think it would be good. Question for you....does it matter how long I let these little melts sit out. I have them on a rack in the cool basement, and I want to find some different colored foils to wrap them in, but still need to order them so it'll be over a week before I get them wrapped, do you see any problems with that? Thanks again for the recipe, I sure enjoy making them.
  8. Trust me Michelle, no one is going to think you are stupid. This really is a forever learning business we're in. I'm still trying to figure out the hard butters, soft butters, room temp oils, liquid oils and everything else. Some of it doesn't make sense. I'm with you, when you hear oil, you think liquid, unless you put it in the refrigerator
  9. Thanks for the link. Math is NOT my specialty :undecided I tried a recipe tonight, just a small batch, what a nightmare trying to figure out the percentages. It went on really hard so I had to add more liquid oils to it, now I'm waiting till morning to finish it. Been rubbing so much dang balm on my lips I can't tell if the extra oil helped any or not. Thought with fresh morning lips I'll be able to tell
  10. Thank you both for the reply. Figured I would try it both ways, so I sprayed 1/2 the pan with Pam and wiped out the excess, and didn't do anything to the other 1/2. Put them in the freezer after I poured them for about 10-15 minutes and they all came out really easy, can't say one 1/2 came out better than the other. So I'll save myself an extra step and not spray the next time. I can't wait to try these in the morning, thanks so much for the recipe Bunny. It was fun and easy to make. Smelled so good, it got me thinking about what I should put on my label. I sure did learn what citric acid was tonight. Thought I'd taste a little so I could tell customers not to eat them, but it wouldn't hurt if they did....wrong......what a dumb thing to do. The smell really does play tricks with the mind :undecided
  11. When you pour the bath melts into the small muffin tin do you already have the paper in the tin. I have both the candy wrap foils and the small foil cups that I can use. I know if I'm using the foil cups I'd pour right into them. But can I pour right into the muffin tin, then wrap them into the candy foils? Or don't they come out of the muffin tin very easy? TIA
  12. Thanks Michelle and Chris, those are not the sites, but I've bookmarked them, they have a lot of information on them. Starting to wonder if I was dreaming of that darn chart :undecided I'm trying to make a lip balm recipe and not sure which butters, oils, etc. are considered hard, brittle, solid at room temp and liquid. Maybe sticking with the BCN base would be less stressful
  13. I've been searching for a link I thought I had saved that tells which oils are hard, soft, liquid, etc. For some reason now I can't find it when I need it. Anyone know what I'm talking about. TIA
  14. Oh, I just hope you figured it out before you lost all you hair. Labels can be so frustrating to me too, just want you to know you're not alone. I was pitching a fit about my laser printer that wasn't printing right.......well, come to find out it was all me, and only me that was messing up.
  15. And make sure you read the "tips for newbies", it's the top thread of this section. You'll save a lot of money by reading those, and then getting a started kit. Wish I had known this before I started and wasted a lot of cash. HTH
  16. The only time I've had problems like that is when I've forgotten to click on "label paper". You said you don't have that option, but do you have "card stock" as an option. Basically something that says 'I'm thicker than ordinary paper'. Wonder why they don't have labels for a paper option. Hope you figure it out, labels are a PITA just like wicking.
  17. I didn't get through the whole site, but what I did look at seemed good. One thing I noticed was no weight on room spray or body butters. I'm one of those who want to know what size I'm buying. If it's there, I didn't see it and apologize.
  18. Where is your neck of the woods? I'm out in the WA state. We have Michaels here, that's our biggest craft store. I ended up ordering some cord/socket sets from nationalartcraft.com. They had several different types, so I ordered a few different styles to see what might work best in my hurricanes.
  19. I don't warm my jars any longer, but when I did that is what I used, a old toaster oven. Worked fine for me.
  20. I don't use the short and fat, but if I were going to redo my line I'd go that route. Tall and slender are to easy to knock over, had it happens so many times, and all you can do is smile at the customer and say "oh, don't worry about that" while you spend the next 10 minutes standing them back up. It's just like a domino effect. Wouldn't be so bad if you had a lot of room for your displays, but you know how craft shows are, so limit in space that things gets crammed next to each other.
  21. I've tried the mold max 10, 20 and 30, and I personally liked the 30 the best. I feel it made a better mold for me. I've also used the Polytek Platsil 71 series and it made a nice mold too.
  22. I will check JoAnns's out tonight, it was a few weeks ago that I was there and all I saw was those replacement light sets for the village houses. Will also check out cozyhomecraftsupply. Backwoods, no Pat Catans in my neck of the woods, but will look at Darice. Thanks everyone.
  23. I'm new at these too, but I don't think you want to cut the FO. It soaks into the blanks really well, and I think "strong" is what you want, cause they will die out some as time goes on. DH went to a snowmobile swap this weekend and I gave him a doz blanks to take with him (they were snowmobile blanks). They were gone within 1 1/2 hours he said, sure made me mad that I didn't have more for him. Now, I really can't say if people bought them just cause it was a snowmobile, (those snowmobilers are obsessed about their sleds), or if they really liked the way they smelled. I hope it's cause they liked the way they smelled cause I have more on order and they aren't snowmobiles this time. I charged 2.00 ea. or 4 for 7.00, that's what I saw someone else here on the board selling theirs for. Edited because I can't add
  24. I also love Scent Works Pink Sugar, but I can't see painting that on my air freshener blanks so I asked on TSR who had the best Pink Sugar (besides Scent Works), and it was an overwhelming reply that ICS had the best next to Scent Works, I just ordered it last night. Sorry I can't help you anymore than that. Just wanted to throw that at ya
  25. Looking to buy about a doz of the light cord and socket sets, know of a good place? I bought one at Joanns but wasn't very impressed with the socket, plus it was like 4.00....yikes! TIA
