  1. I also think your labels are great, and no, your setup doesn't look to busy. I really don't like a busy setup, your eyes just move past everything cause there is to much to take in, and I didn't get that from yours at all. Good job.
  2. I agree with Jean. It's nice to have both the liquid and the mica, just depends on what look you're going for on how you use them.
  3. Excellent job, you should be proud of yourself.
  4. I agree with what Lindsay said. Lighter oils, and use a tiny bit. I started out using the dry flo so I can't say one way or another if it makes a difference.
  5. Oh, thanks for even more help. I have some of those pull type bows, but I was looking for a wider width for my bows, guess I will see if they carry those pull bows in the wider width. Candleman, that is a beautiful basket, and I love the 2 colored bow. Looks like part of the flowers are inside the basket and the rest are on the outside. After fooling around with these all night long, I have to say, it's an art to know how to put a basket together. I think it comes along with having that artistic ability, much like interior designing. Something I was born without Thanks again for all your help, I will keep working on it, I might actually get one I feel is good enough to post a picture of
  6. Thank you soooo much Margie and Shani, what great help. I signed up for the e-class, hope I'll learn something. I've been playing with the baskets all day. I'm not happy with them, but I'm running out of time and need to get these out by Thursday. I am mixing scents, but they are either lotions & gels (in bottles), or candles in jars with lids. Lip Balms are sealed and body sprays are in alumninum bottles, so I should be okay as far as one scent not mixing with the other. For now I'm going to stick with the simple bow, will practice on bigger ones after the holidays, when I have more time. Maybe I'll post a few pics of my baskets later tonight when I'm done and you can critique them Thanks again for all your help.
  7. I hate when I'm aksed to do a gift basket....I can't tell them no...but I really SUCK bigtime at making them. They never look good. I start with some packaging paper in the bottom and then shreds on top. Pretty simple so far. But what is the best way to display your items in the basket. I assume you should always put the tallest in the back and work forward with the smallest. Do you stand them straight up, or tilt them back? I have the basics, but soon as I put the next item in, it covers up 1/2 my label of the previous item and then you can't see what scent it is. Do you not care if they can't see the scent? And do you find it best to combine candles and B&B in one basket, or is it better to keep to one or the other in a basket? Should I shrink wrap, or tie it with cello and a bow? That's my other problem, can't make a bow (a big nice bow) to save my life. Any tips you can give me would be much appreciated. TIA
  8. If you're not happy with the Acqua Di Gio, try RA. My SIL wears this cologne and so I got some FO to make lotion for him. He said it was dead on, and everyone seems to really like it.
  9. Bet you gave DH a big kiss for taking you along. Those are excellent buys, especially that peg rack.
  10. I also use the aluminum bottle with cyclo and have it priced at 6.95. They are new to my line and I only sold one last weekend, I was very disappointed. I have another 2 day show the end of the week and a house party on Friday night, I'm hoping that they will sell when I can explain to people how wonderful they are
  11. Thanks for all the nice comments, but believe me, in person it did not look good at all. I really think I could have sold more if I had more space. It gets crowded looking and I think people just look over what's actually there. My labels that I use for my candles are all the same, just different sizes, so here is one of my tarts, just to give you an idea of what they are like. DH has the camera so I can't take one of my jars or tins.
  12. Good job!! You sure had it easy packing up, always nice when you take a lot of empty boxes home
  13. Well that just stinks! I don't know why they can't be more honest and tell you there will be 6 chandlers there, then you can decide if you want to do it. I don't think they realize just how much work it is for us to haul all those products around. Hope the wholesale account comes through, then it will be worthwhile.
  14. Very elegant looking, love the way you displayed them.
  15. Hey, 197.00 for 4 people.......I'd say you did very well, just think if the other 11 had shown up You are so right...."you just never know" what the public will want from year to year and show to show. One show I do I can't give away my lotions, the another I never seem to have enough
  16. It seems people are buying more this year than last year. I did 11x at my show yesterday, but I also had problems selling some of my new items, such as body sprays and bath melts. Glad I'm having a home show next Fri night so I can explain and show people what these are all about. It snowed all day long, but people came out anyway. I HATED (yes, I'm screaming) my setup. Last year I had 2 10' tables, and so this year when I asked for 2 large tables I expected the same. I ended up with a 8' and a 6' table. That is a HUGE difference when you have a setup that needs that extra 6'. I ended up with B&B products mixed in with candles, and items stacked in front of other items, it was a total mess. There is nothing I hate more than a crowded messy looking display, and that is exactly what I had. Here are a few pictures, people were coming in early and since I didn't have the space I planned on it took me longer to figure out what I was going to do, so I didn't get to take pictures till there was a lull in the crowd.
  17. I agree with the home show. You usually don't have time to talk to each person who comes into your booth at a show and explain all your products to them, but at a home show you get to actually talk to the people and tell them the benefits of each product you make. THEN...they buy and get hooked and will be back for more. Some people don't even know what a bath melt is, so then it's hard to sell if you can't explain how wonderful they are in the bath. But you should be proud of how well you did.
  18. Good job, what a nice Christmas present for you. And your display looks wonderful. Very professional looking.
  19. Don't give up, it may be the next show that people will be buying. You just never know. To bad that the weather wasn't in your favor.
  20. Cute shirt!! You know, sometimes we have to do these shows and then weed out the ones we don't like. There really isn't any other way to know if it will be a good show until you try it. I've learned just because the woodworker makes a killing at one show doesn't mean I will. Glad today was better for you. And.........here we go again.........get those dang people out of the craft shows that are buying crap wholesale, probably from China
  21. Ditto on what Liz and lvnmt said. It takes a lot of time and money to get into this. I was another one that was just going to make this a hobby, then I saw the thousands of dollars I had put into all the supplies and knew I had to keep going just to try and recoup some of that money. Good luck.
  22. LMAO Beth!! After reading the first sentence my only thought was "I'm going to send this thing out and have it fixed" Glad I read the rest, looks like it's something I can do I agree, I'm only going to buy actual Minolta toner. I think I read where my warranty would be void if I used anything but their parts. Better safe than sorry. I appreciate all your information, I've printed it out, and when I get my toner I'll refer back to it. I'm going to go ahead and buy the toner, but if this printer is anything like my old inkjet, I have a lot more ink in there than they want me to believe. I'm printing till it prints no more, THEN I'll change the toner. Call me cheap, but I'm going for the distance Thanks again Beth
