  1. Yeah vinegar is a big no no for lye burns it will just make it worse.
  2. I have a very nosy bunny that likes to come in the kitchen and get in trouble, but when I'm soaping I have a doggie fence I put up to keep him out. Well sometimes he figures out how to move it lol. I agree with starr though it isn't as dangerous as you think. Most soapers were in your shoes though in the beginning I mean I studied for months before I got the nerve to do it. Once you get in there and do a few batches it will be a breeze. Just take the normal precautions and don't watch youtube videos on it most of them don't even wear gloves which is scary to me. I mainly learned from millers soap & this forum
  3. Looking for a good one for cp soap or something I could mix
  4. I would go with the water soluble one too the oil one is a pain in the butt to get all mixed up.
  5. I apologize for posting this thread I just thought I would share something I've been using and thought it would help some people out. They are still better than dealing with paypal
  6. Walmart has this one on special right now. I suspect they are going to go quick I bought one this morning lol.
  7. Most credit card companies do that now just go to consumerist and look it up. Most of it is because customer service doesn't know how to fill out the paper work correctly.
  8. It is expensive, but divine. I get mine from EOU (it's cheaper), but if you weren't a past customer of theirs the min. is quite high.
  9. This is one of the best paypal alternatives I have seen so far. Signed up with them a couple weeks ago it's called serve they are a subsidiary of American Express. If you sign up now you get $10 and they send you a card to use your balance anywhere that uses american express. I just used my card friday night and it's even faster than using my debit card. The only fees they charge is if you use the atm and they are not charging to fund with a credit card until June. You can refer people and get $5 if they make a transaction too! Thanks so anyone that clicks on the link Also after you sign up go to http://www.playmoneymover.com and you can earn $10 more for answering a trivia question, it works, because I got mine just the other day They also have a widget for selling your products. Maybe this will give paypal a run for their money, but who knows.
  10. Are those the ones you can print color and black on the same page? That is what I'm looking for!
  11. Here you go This one is the 120 I do short and long bursts with no problems.
  12. I do it all the time, because I'm a chocolate snob lol. Of course I add cocoa absolute to it also. I had some salt bars the other day though and all they had was dark cocoa powder in them in a few drops of peppermint and man did the chocolate come through.
  13. For 5 years I had this older braun it was a work horse and I love it! Then It caught fire & I was heart broken and had no idea what to get. So I just went with a cheap one until I did more research, but I love this one more than my braun believe it or not lol. It's proctor silex and tiger direct has them for $10 w/shipping on ebay so it's a steal!
  14. My hubby did mention a laser, but I'm kind of concerned with health issues with a laser and being in a tiny house I think I would rather want a ink jet. Laser in the future though. I think we will probably go with canon. They seem to have the best reviews for linux
  15. Do any of you guys have linux with your pixma printers?
  16. We actually have been looking at the canon pixma printers Oh Jade I hear you on that, the worst part is when it stops printing in the middle of a print and it's a bugger to try and get it out! Thanks for all your suggestions
  17. I'm looking for recs for a new printer, but non HP please. Had it with HP lol. Just need something good with labels
  18. This is what I do too I have many notebooks I keep next to my bed and I always write some new idea in it every night before I go to bed lol.
  19. Wait till you start dreaming of batches then you know you have a problem lol
  20. It is so sad, there are so many suppliers going out of business.
  21. I make both and never had that happen either.
  22. Haven't tried silk yet, but I have tried sugar & don't use it all the time. I don't have any problems with lather though, just the scum on the skin and tub. I have used clay in the past though. I guess I'll have to try a few things to figure this out. I did find some stuff on citric acid so I think I will give that a go too. Thanks everyone
  23. When I use castor it's normally around 5% never more. I don't use it all the time in my soap though. I don't have any problems with slip in my soap either, but with castile it's always slimy. 100% coconut oil bars I do 15-20% sf, though I love salt bars even more! I actually love using my 0-1% laundry bars. On those facial bars I use 25% coconut so I'm not sure if going higher would work, because even when I use them sometimes they are drying to my face. I worship soapcalc lol.
  24. Yeah I read about Tetrasodium EDTA, but for me I wouldn't have a problem with it, but other people would that use my soap unfortunately. I thought raising the sf would make is worse or am I wrong? I usually sf at 5% except for my facial bar been doing it at 8%, but hubby has complaining it leaves him oily so I wanted to change it. I have several recipes I use, but it's usually Veg shortening, coconut, olive, castor & cocoa butter or shea/mango. I do add salt sometimes before I add lye, but maybe I should be adding more to it? What about doing a all coconut bar? I was so desperate last night we were browsing in the soap isle looking for a detergent bar to use, but came up empty. Any help would be great
