  1. Please excuse the obvious but many people overlook the different media settings that printers provide. Most are set to the default "plain paper" setting. HP printers do have a "label" option and should also have a setting for heavy stock, which might be the one needed for water resistant paper. So before you trash your printer, check your settings and if you still cannot get proper alignment either HP or your label supplier should be able to provide support.
  2. Glad that they responded and admitted their error. I found with these particular tops (using SW's bottoms) you need to align them level first, press down and then twist to tighten. If you don't, they will leak. Encountered same problem with the smooth black fine misters also. The threading between the tops and metal bottoms were not an exact match. The stock I had goes back around 6 months ago, so it is possible that the problem was corrected.
  3. Really? I think I have some of that Orchid Tea someplace around here. I never associated "fig" with with that scent? But then again, it didn't really speak orchid or tea for that matter. Very curious, hope I can find it.
  4. I know that many do this without incident but there are warnings from the manufacturers not to subject the scales to extreme heat.
  5. Here's another link for you, scroll down to Peru Balsam: http://www.ifraorg.org/GuideLines.asp
  6. Way too much information! What is the purpose? You are overselling and that as a consumer is a big turnoff. When I see over-hyped educational hoopla like that, it immediately sends a signal that your products cannot stand on their own merit. You want to create an atmosphere that is conducive to buying, Trust me, if someone did possibly manage to read all that to the end, they would click off, take two aspirins and lie down. Seriously! Additionally, I echo Scented's response as well as momtohaley2004's copyright concerns and the discrepancies noted by Flicker. Hey Flicker, been too long.....good to see you!
  7. There is a Mac version available: http://www.avery.co.uk/uk1/downloads/maclabelexpert.jsp
  8. I'm just wondering if the reported fire was actually wax aflame or just perceived as such? The combination of liquefied wax and a untrimmed flaming wick could cause one to panic in thinking that all was ablaze and blame you instead of realizing it was caused due to their negligence. Whatever, I guess....fire is fire and too hot is just too hot. With tins, long neck stabilizers for sure and wick down to avoid a full melt pool on that first burn.
  9. I understand it is a reciprocal link, doesn't change the fact that it is not in your best interests to place it on your site. Regarding Big Cat's, you need to disclose particulars. Check with someone in the know on how it should be worded.
  10. You need to show examples of your entire label in order to see what works.
  11. No one here can make that decision for you. You need to know your market. Will your customer base be receptive and willing to pay luxury pricing? Custom packaging is costly, minimums are high, mistakes are expensive and your cash output will be substantial. The only way to make an intelligent decision as to what direction to take is by analyzing your particular situation and then sit down and carefully do the math.
  12. Looks great, very polished, best of luck to you! Have to ask though, Candle Making Techniques links directly to this board. Why would you purposely direct customers here? Another question re Candles for Causes. Maybe I missed it but I am not seeing any indication that you are actually donating a portion of your profits to Big Cat Rescue. ETA - I too suggest that you reconsider having that special effects thing superimposing itself over the lavender pillars photo on your Home page.
  13. They are the absolute worst. Believe me, you have been spared. Consider yourself lucky.
  14. Here you go: http://www.courant.com/features/lifestyle/hc-object0722.artjul22,0,1458201.htmlstory No mystery, just creative marketing.
  15. Citronella candles are strictly for outside use. Close contact with the fumes will cause respiratory distress. Take precautions when formulating; limit your exposure and provide adequate ventilation.
  16. As a "civilian" without knowledge of wick applications, no ready supply on hand, and unaware of the precautions you should take in heating wax and inhaling citronella fumes, my suggestion is to trash whatever you are thinking of salvaging. Next time you lightup a new one, allow it to burn long enough until the surface completely liquifies, then extinguish. That is the secret (providing the correct wick was used) to preventing a candle from tunneling.
  17. Lovely presentation. Very well coordinated use of color. Goes perfect with that gorgeous beaded curtain in the background.
  18. Sweet birch (Betula lenta) is identical to wintergreen. Birch tar (Betula alba) is totally different, fragrance similar to burnt wood. It is the predominant note in Henri Bendel's Firewood. WSP has the so called dupe, it is not even remotely close.
  19. Sweet Birch? Check fragrance finder for Wintergreen.
  20. No, he states he uses "essentials." :rolleyes2 Same trickery that he used with Ergo. Btw, dear Jimmy constantly peppered his Ergo promos with the following, "soy unlike paraffin does not place cancer causing substances into the air." When called out on it, he answered with this disclaimer, "I have to refer you to the editor of that magazine. We did not know it was being written until it hit the stands. We were never contacted for fact checking. No one from our company was quoted." he then added links to the healthy candles/paraffin is evil websites. ETA: additional facts
  21. Here's another link for a diy light box: http://www.theswitchboards.com/articles_professionalphotos.html
  22. Just took a quick look...... I'm seeing fabulous photos of gorgeous products as I click around on your site, but your Home page in no way reflects what lies beyond. My suggestion; no frame, ditto for the plant.....no props, only products. Stack those incredible swirled soaps, grab handfuls of your other products, get in close, play with depth of field...strut your stuff girl! Why is "citymax" part of your domain name? You have to properly "title" your first page....my browser is showing: http://www.scentsandsoys.citymax.com/page/page/4519303.htm "Soy's"......why the apostrophe? You sure can! Gorgeous!!!!!
  23. Not much staying power once you rinse off but lemon eucalyptus eo was found to be highly effective in leave-on products.
  24. That is not what Top said. Are you challenging the EPA's findings? Seemed pretty conclusive to me. Doesn't really matter, the war IS over. The manufacturing giants have laid down their arms. Hail, Para/Soy, the great peacemaker! IGI's website has been scrubbed clean of ill feeling. The only evidence of their accusatory statements directed towards vegetable wax manufacturers and their proponents can only be seen now by going to the Web Archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20060411081923/http://www.igiwax.com/wax_faq.shtml What is the amount of soy wax that has to be in the mix to *legally* call it soy, 30%? Guess that was one that the soy guys gave up. In light of their new found alliance, and with true facts becoming evident, I would imagine that they are none too pleased and embarrassed by the constant regurgitation of false information being parroted by the wax bashing group. Doesn't matter that THEY were the very ones that put it out there... Could cease and desist notices be coming to their mailboxes soon? Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'.
