  1. Isn't it "Mc-sponged" :laugh2: The blue and white sounds like a great choice. You're going to do great!!! Be sure to post later and let us know how it went.
  2. Thank you! I feel like I am getting closer to a "good burn". Keep your fingers crossed for me.
  3. Thank you, Candleman. I burned it again last night and the smoking continued. Darn. I will wick down and see if that helps.
  4. Well, I'll keep burning and see just how interesting it gets! Thanks for the feedback.
  5. What do you all think of this burn. It is after a three hour burn, using j223 and 8%fo (Pear Spice). Zinc 60 wick. The meltpool is a tad shy of 1/2 inch at the glass edge, it is a bit deeper closer to the wick. In the photo, the soot looks worse than in reality, but yes, there is some soot. Thanks for any feedback.
  6. I like Natty Cat's suggestions. ALso, aren't you supposed to put net weight on the label as well?
  7. I like it too. Nice clean look. Not too sure about the apple blossom graphic, though. What about a different blossom graphic that is black and white and/or is not enclosed in a circle as this one is. I'm thinking something that "floats" on the label more and is not so separate. Hope that makes sense. I'm not trying to be picky, just helpful!!
  8. I haven't read through all the posts, but I do think you could streamline some of the wording. For example, your last line below the web addy could read "Handcrafted in Little Rock, AR" and pull out the separate Handcrafted Candles line. JMO ETA: I really like the label, and the font, too. And I like that the scent name is clear and prominent in the revision. It looks good! Also, as an option your last line could read "Proudly Handcrafted in Little Rock, AR" b/c I get the impression you are proud of your homestate!
  9. Although I haven't sniffed Gold Canyon myself, I read in another post that Candle Science's Strudel and Spice is a dupe of Gold Canyon's Strudel and Spice. HTH.
  10. CONGRATS TO YOU!!!! I have no advice about tv interviews, except if you are nervous and tend to talk fast (like me) then watch that you slow down your speech. ALso, don't wear anything too pattern intensive, it can be distracting. Solid colors are best. GOOD LUCK!
  11. The other issue is that once you remove it from the fridge, the cold wax will form moisture from the humidity in the air, which could cause moisture to be trapped in the wax.
  12. I would respond b/c it is the professional thing to do, and she may decide to bag making her own and buy from you if she struggles enough. I would say something along the lines of what was already written about "glad my product inspired you, regretfully, that information is proprietary, etc," and then refer her to the National Candle Association at http://www.candles.org/. And wish her luck and that's it!
  13. Okay, I'm going to give it a shot! I'm making more candles tonight. Thanks so much!
  14. Thanks for your message, snapdragon. My dh really likes the metro jars so I will have to go back to them after I master these mason jars. I'm trying to stay focused and not try to many different things at once (famous last words!). So you know, I was experimenting with double wicking the 8 oz metro jars with 2 htp 52's and it burned well, but I didn't finish the testing b/c I went back to mason jars.
  15. I love the feedback. Thanks so much! Can I ask a follow-up question? Do all of you who use this scent in candles find that you can get good scent throw with 6% or do you use more? My nose is not very trustworthy at this point, but I am finding that I may need to use more than 6% to get it to throw strong.
  16. I figured I'd post a follow-up in case anyone was interested. I made both candles, and while they are similar, the amish harvest is definitely muskier, the strudel and spice is sweeter. But since I love Strudel and Spice so much it turns out that I don't really care for the amish harvest after all.
  17. Thanks for your input, 7pawz. Glad to hear the htp's are working for you. It really helps me when I get feedback. What kind of jars do you use? I was trying the metro jars, but put them aside and am back to mason jars. Right now I am buring a zinc 62 and lx 20 and they both seem to be doing well! I'm on my third burn and so far so good. But I shouldn't get ahead of myself. Time will tell.
  18. Thanks, Top. I can certainly give the eco's a try. I do have some samples here. From what you say they may be a match! I'm using 16 oz golden harvest mason jars.
  19. Well, I should qualify my answer first by saying I am still an amatuer at this. But, it seems like I always end up with hang-up on one side with the htp's no matter how big the wick. I end up with a deep (too deep at times) melt pool on one end, and hang-up on the other due to the curl of the htp's. And the hang-up doesn't go away, it slowly grows as the candle burns. And although I've read that I can twist the htp's or glue the tab off-center, I'd rather not go to that effort. IMO it leaves too much room for error on my part. So, I made two more candles last night in Strudel and Spice, one with a zinc 62 and one with an lx 20. I'm hoping St. Paddy will bring me some luck today..
  20. Thank you, grama and pinetree. I'm ready to toss in the towel on the htp's and go back to zincs although I hate that mushroom! Thanks again!
  21. I've been searching the forum on J-223 and noticed that no one has posted on using htp wicks with J-223. (A lot of you seem to like zinc and lx from what I've read). I'm focusing on these wicks b/c I like their hot burning properties and self-trimming ones as well. Does anyone else use htp with j-223? Just wanted to check before I go down this road any further....any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  22. I don't pour many, but I love strudel and spice from Candlescience. It's intoxicating!
  23. Hi Linda, Welcome to Candletech! I don't know the specific answer to your question, but it might be helpful if you tell us what wax you are using. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by sinkholes at the bottom of the candle, I'm more familiar with sinkholes at the top of the candle. Perhaps you can clarify?
  24. I also use htp 52 with j-223 in 4 oz tins.
