  1. Their shipping is fast. I usually get mine in two days. Never had a problem.
  2. I have oil heat in my home and we burn our fireplace often. We do get a slight black soot on our windows and walls from it.
  3. Okay I just asked my 8 year old daughter what the picture was and she said, "It looks like a Croc!" So that's a good sign!
  4. Great! I'd love to see what you come up with...and Strudel and Spice is my favorite as well!
  5. Does anyone else think that Strudel and Spice from CandleScience and Amish Harvest from Peaks smell very, very similar. I'm wondering if it's just me. Thanks for any comments.
  6. There you go...a day at the beach in his own backyard! Get some beach chairs, a couple of towels, beach toys, sand, sunscreen, fire up the grill....
  7. You say he loves the beach and has a great sense of humor. And he's turning 50. Why not make him feel like a kid again? Get some beach toys or just a beach bucket and put some ocean scented candles inside. You could decorate the beach bucket, too for fun. Also, does he have the book by Tim Russert, called Wisdom of our FAthers, letters from daughters and sons? Just thought I'd mention it.
  8. Oh, thank you thank you thank you! These links are great, just what I was looking for. Now to choose a lid. Where would I be without you guys lending me a hand. This forum is great.
  9. Does anyone know where I can get mason jar lids? I am looking for something different than the lids that come with the jars that I buy at Walmart. I am using 16 ounce jars. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the info Ah-Soy. I'm going to melt these down tonight and re-wick them. Hopefully I can get this to work!
  11. I am testing Eco wicks in J223. The Eco 6 is burning better than the Eco 8, altho I think they are probably both too big and I'll have to wick down. Anyhoo, the smaller wick is mushrooming less than the larger size; I thought it would have been the other way around. Is this unusual. I'm wondering if I mixed up the labels.
  12. You really love The Wick House but it is taken. What if we look for a synonym for House. How 'bout The Wick Cottage Candle Company The Wick Lodge Candle Company The Wick Cabin Candle Company The Wick Home Candle company The Wick Inn Candle Company. I also like substituting Hunter for Wick. So you would have The Hunter House Candle Company, The Hunter Cottage Candle Company, and so on.
  13. I dont' have the answer to your question but I was curious about it. I searched the yellow pages for businesses in Ohio with the name Tippecanoe and came up with 25 matches. HTH. P.S. I think it's a great name for a candle company!
  14. I like Sweet Apple Orchard! You could also do Sweet Apple Blossom. Blossom may be to floral, tho? But I like it!
  15. How 'bout just dropping the winter and go for Candy Apple or Gourmet Candy Apple or Candied Apples?
  16. Thanks so much for the input. I tend to get analysis paralysis with this stuff so your feedback does help rein me in. I've been testing candles (tins, mason, metro) since, oh, October! and have yet to be satisfied. :embarasse Right now I am burning the metro with the HTP 73. It just started so I can't say for sure how it will do, but so far so good! By the way, I am using J-223, and using AMish Harvest from Peaks. Thanks again! Gina
  17. Ugh! I'm still trying to figure that out! So far I've tried CD8 - too high a flame and yet tunneled Could not get FMP HTP 51 - too small, tunneled HTP 62 - great for beginning of test, but drowns during marathon burns I am realy trying to avoid zincs, so I am going to try one size up on the HTP's, then try LX's.
  18. Thanks, everyone. And as you say, these buggers sure are hard to wick!
  19. How much wax do you pour into the 12 oz Metro Jars? (I believe they are also called Status Jars). My filled weight is about 20oz (7.875 oz wax + 12.125 glass = 20 oz) I was curious b/c I was wondering what the acceptable fill level was. If I fill them too high, it seems to impact the flame. But I don't want to fill them too low, either. Thank so much!
  20. That's very pretty! I love the color!
  21. Thanks so much everyone! I am getting a "crash course" in toggles, crimps, wire, and other fun stuff as I try to figure this out. It's actually not so bad! (famous last words, lol! ) The Michael's bead aisle is still pretty scary for me though, I must admit!
  22. Thanks, HS Yes, I'm going to have to work on that technique b/c I have had "beads all over the place" more times than I care to remember! This is what I really want to get right. I don't want the girls to make the bracelets and then have them all falling apart. Is there a special kind of knot I should be tying or just a double knot? I suppose I could also add a drop of glue to the knot. I think DH has some glue that might work.
