  1. Too cute on the original post...I too am a power burner. What can I say, I love candles lol. Oh and if there is a group for power burners and FO hos then I really need to find them lol
  2. That pic above has me cracking up lol But on a serious note, I would assume would could dip paper towels in the same way the toilet paper is done. I would also assume you could decorate them to whatever kitchen theme one has. I tried to find some pics on the net, just to see what one looked like, but couldnt find any. I too would love to see a pic of it done if someone finds one.
  3. If you do, please update us how it holds up. I wish I could remember where I saw it but I thought I saw somewhere that said something about not using cinnamon with the bears, but since I can't find it, I can't speak on it. Maybe if someone else knows, they can post about it.
  4. I have used clean cotton (type), heavenly(type), love spell(type), birds of paradise (requested), trying to think without looking up orders here lol. I didnt do any bakery type scents, most were clean scents and then perfume/body spray dupes. Oh forgot, stormwatch (type) was another popular one.
  5. I too used soy when I did mine last year. I found a container, similar to a canister, that was plastic at the dollar store and the small bears (which is all I did last year) fit perfectly inside of it. I think the real trick of doing the bears, other than how you present them, is making sure they are fluffed well. I use a fork to do mine.
  6. I did a couple of dipped bears around early fall last year since I had a lot of wax but hadn't even come close to testing enough to sell anything much, but these bears were jumping off the shelf. A few were ordered through online and they were seen by others and so they ordered and so on. I did a few for friends who needed gift exchange things for work, then the people who saw them at the parties wanted some, I tell you, I was so sick of those little guys but it did make me some money to put back into the candle making part. I swore I would never do them again since it took up a lot of my time last year, but now thinking back to the bank account, yeah I think I will do them again this year. lol
  7. If you can't find a friend who could do them, you might try the library. If it's only a few sheets it shouldnt cost much.
  8. My husband wants to learn since he's finally home and getting settled in, so we are going to be making a bunch of melts, you know, nice and slow for him
  9. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my turkey fryer!! I still use my presto pot as well, but I was in heaven when I got my fryer. I use my presto for soy since I dont do as much with soy as I do with 4630 that I keep in the fryer.
  10. I'm not sure how long you have been at it, but I would say it probably takes a long time to break even and then begin to see an actual profit. Good luck to you, I haven't gotten to the point of more than just getting some of the things I have tested in the hands of friends and family to see what they think. This place is a wealth of information though, and I'm sure more will come along with some good marketing ideas for you. :smiley2:
  11. Here is a link to the container semi custom labels... http://www.peakcandle.com/products/Semi-Custom-Small-Container-Labels__A1010.aspx
  12. It was in the section where the cameras are, back where you can turn film in, or put your memory card in and print your own pics etc. He said in our store, it was right beside where there were some cases for cameras and camera equipment.
  13. I mentioned on the temp board that my husband picked me up the kit from walmart (49 something dollars) and it comes with tripod, lights, well everything and I have to say it's one of the best investments I've made. Plus, I suck at coming up with making things on my own lol
  14. I think you will do fine, and like mentioned, scents will last a good while. My only advice is to not make a lot of dipped critters, maybe one or two to have to show, but I do mine as they are ordered. By only having a couple, you save yourself having to guess what people would want them scented in, and trust me, when they see the ones you have made, they will be ordering them from you especially with the holidays coming soon. Good luck and just relax and have a good time, you sound like you have going to have your first home show with people you know which can help a great deal when trying to get started
  15. I started out using soy, then bought 10lbs of 4630 and haven't looked back. My turkey fryer is full of 4630 now. I do still have soy but I wont be buying any more most likely. I have been using the soy for wickless tins because I never could get wicking down right in soy lol
  16. I am going to have to live through you guys for the next month or so. I am packing up my fryer and presto pots this weekend so I can seperate all my candle stuff from the other household goods the movers will come and get since we are moving soon. I am thinking I am going to have withdrawls
  17. I'll let you know in a month , we are moving from Kansas to Washington state. But, we are taking all my candle stuff on a truck we are renting, the movers are getting the rest. So I will have my candle stuff well before the rest, oh bummer heheh
  18. I've ordered FO from BCS (other stuff from Green Leaf) and had wonderful results. Their pumpkin cheesecake smells awesome, I have to keep that one in stock for a friend of mine lol
  19. Really cute stuff! I love the military ducks, so adorable!
  20. They have some at Candlewic, you might check here... http://www.candlewic.com/store/category.aspx?q=cFloating+Candle+Molds I found another one, listed below, I just googled floating candle molds and got a few results. http://www.yaley.com/candles/Floating_Molds.htm
  21. I got some at walmart yesterday, it was 2.64 for 30 something oz. It was a super walmart if that matters, and it's right where everyone said, in the isle with the oils and right on top.
  22. I dont normally like the leather scents, but since I started making the cardboard air fresheners, the ladies have been buying them for their husbands cars. I made a candle for my dad with that scent and he loves it, but then he wears cowboy boots, has leather coats etc
  23. I'm playing/experimenting this weekend. I have had some soy sitting around and havent messed with it in awhile due to frosting issues etc, so going to try the coconut oil and see what happens. Also got a lot of sample size oils from TCS so going to put some in soy, some in my 4630. I'm moving soon so I dont want to make too much ahead and try to put it on the rented truck. The military is taking the bulk of our stuff, but due to all my candle/bb stuff, I had to rent a small truck as well :rolleyes2
