  1. Also, after the first time of using it, and you turn it off, the next time you go to use it, poke some relief holes in your hard wax (i use a metal skewer) and make sure the lid is on because it will spit at you :smiley2:
  2. I use specialty bottle for my tins, not sure how they compare price wise to sks though.
  3. Sorry this happened to you, but I agree with the others. Go with your gut feeling. You spent a whole day and your time is money, more than $2.60 worth for sure.
  4. Love your setup! And those risers look pretty good, and I assume they hold quite a bit of weight. I think I am going to have to break down and get me some of those.
  5. Keep your chin up, and just think, you got your first show out of the way. They'll be more shows, more chances to get your name and product out there. An open house sounds like a good idea as well, and if you check around, some places like vista print have things going on where you can get some postcards made fairly cheap. That's who I used for my first one, I just made it an open house postcard, mailed some and gave out some.
  6. I am glad to see this thread again, have loved it from the start lol Some of mine are low cost, some I took from my kitchen. -Metal bbq skewer to poke holes in the wax in my turkey fryer before turning it on. -Chopsticks for stirring. I also have one of those wisk type things that's flat and opens so you can grab things. It didnt work as well as my pampered chef wisk so it's now in my work room to also use to stir. -I have a couple of forks I picked up from garage sales to use to fluff the dipped critters. Also found a cookie cooling rack at the same sale I use to set the critter on while it dries, with a cookie sheet I got from the dollar tree to catch any dripping wax. -Doll stand to pose critter while drying, from Ben Franklin I think. -For things I make that never leave the house, I am forever checking out the dollar stores. My husband even now walks through the glassware/candle section and says, "hey can't you...." and I say "yep, put it in the cart." lol -Like someone else mentioned, I have a paper shredder and I use it to shred junk mail to use along with peanuts for packing. -Probably not low cost, but I should own stock in wax paper and paper towel companies lol
  7. When I made that, I used a very light aqua color, but then again, it was for my bathroom that was done in nautical theme
  8. I would love one as well if it's not too much trouble, that would be a wonderful help.
  9. Dang I haven't had enough coffee today, but yep that's how I got them. If you deal with tealites you will love them!
  10. Sorry to hear about your job, and best of luck today!
  11. I have some of these and they are awesome, but for the life of me I can't remember how I went about getting them. You could use their email on their site and ask them though, they are awesome people http://www.wickcenteringtool.com/default.asp?S=E3&Document=Contact+us&NID=3453564
  12. I agree with the liquid dye. I had an order for some pink wickless tins and scented in pink sugar, I did like mentioned above, put a little in, take some out onto my wax paper and let it set up a bit, and see if it was dark enough. It doesnt take much at all to get pink from the red dye.
  13. That does help a lot, thanks so much, going to give it a shot :smiley2:
  14. Gosh I know this has been talked about before, and I have searched every way I can think of to get the right search string to get an answer, so please bear with me. I have a case and a half or so of 415 and have a LOT of 1oz samples that I want to get into some wax, so thinking of making tarts/melts. I normally use clamshells, but since I'm playing I'm going to use wrappers, candy molds etc and I need to find out if beeswax will make that 415 a little more solid? I have used 415 with the floater molds and they work fine with no additive, but when I went to shrink wrap, well they are a little soft. If BW isn't the answer, what would be a good thing to use to harden them just a little? I realize frosting is an issue, and I'm ok with that, learned to live with it, just looking for something to make the lil suckers a bit more able to stand a little handling. Thanks in advance for any advice, and again, forgive my brain being numb from trying to find the right answer
  15. I just wanted to tell Bert thank you so much for the sample of Christmas Pear, I can already tell it's going to be on my next order lol. It's probably a good thing I didnt know about you sooner, I'm getting past my "gotta have everything" phase (yeah right), but I'm getting to where I am ordering just what I want to carry full time. Thank you thank you thank you to whoever it was that brought Bert to my attention, she's great to work with, ships fast, and has some awesome smelling oils!
  16. I have this link bookmarked and see it.... http://stores.ebay.com/Heaven-Scent-Candle-and-Soap-Supply_16oz-Fragrance-Oils_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ10QQftidZ2QQtZkm
  17. Fall has always been my favorite season, and I've really been feeling it living up here in Washington state, it's been quite nippy at times lol. So this weekend I have a couple of orders for melts that I will get out of the way, then it's all fall here.
  18. I just moved half way across the us in August myself, and what I did is unpack my work room last. Then for some reason it took me awhile to want to unpack that, weird huh? But once I got everything in order (and boy did I love actually having a work room) I made some tarts for my melter that sits on the island in the kitchen, butterscotch brownies (omg can I just say that scent ROCKS!!) and once I got compliments about how good the house smells from my husband, daughter and visitors, it got me motivated again. So here's a kick in the butt from Washington state, make yourself something first, and I bet you get motivated all over again just like I did
  19. I could have written this lol. Same with me, but I never worry about Peaks, I know it's always on it's way. Top notch all the way!
  20. I haven't ordered, but when looking through the scents I couldnt get past the b's :undecided ETA-found the page links for them on the right side, had a duh moment
  21. Being military we have moved a lot, but that site has just about all of them for us, both address and old phone numbers. Some of the things wrong are our birthdates, some show us being in our 20's (dont I wish) and some as old as in our 70s, but otherwise they are mostly right on
  22. I am forever looking at the pics of the pretty swirled soaps, now tarts? Wow that is really pretty!
