  1. I think that is pretty! May I ask where you got the jar?
  2. Thanks! I never thought of a heat lamp! I will give that a try. I thought about a small space heater blowing across them but in the summer....no way. A heat lamp would put more of a direct heat on them.
  3. I do not heat my jars and get wet spots most likely because of it. I use a parasoy blend and sometimes I get lucky with very minimal spottage. I do think it has to do with the pouring temp of the jars and cooling temp of the room. My sun porch is currently my candle room. I have heat out there but it is not consistent and therefore the wet spots are too. My question is.....if I may.....I am soon moving my first shop. I will have a "pouring" room and was wondering for those that pour larger amounts of candles at a time....do you heat your jars?? I will not have a stove but I do have a heat gun but the amounts I will be pouring do not justify a heat gun. Right now I am trying to live with the wet spots but wonder if there are any other tricks out there....
  4. That is sooooo funny! I too tried this and lost! I even tried bypassing the removal of the wick by "injecting" oil through the wick and into the bottle via a syringe and needle ( I'm a nurse)...outside of squirting alot of oil everywhere...the little bit I managed to get in the bottle did nothing!
  5. Thanks! It's good to know someone else has seen this phenomenon! I just got my new Masterbuilt turkey fryer the other day and my wax order came in today!! I have put in 25 pounds of 4627 and 10 pounds of GB444 and will test this out. I may add more soy depending on how the red and browns do.
  6. Pink Pepperberry is one of my new favorites but the White Willow and Tea is my absolute favorite right now!!!! I soaped them both with excellent results. I am going to try them in candles tomorrow. Anyone try the pink chocolate yet??
  7. I have been blending the 4627 and GB 444 or 464 and have had great success with hot and cold throw. I have had one problem though....with some colors like brown or reds....there has been some weird discoloration that almost looks like frosting but more in the middle of the jars....it's hard to explain. I have been using a 50/50 blend. Has anyone had any weird color problems with a blend? I have been thinking about adding more 4627 and see if it helps. Adding the soy really helps with the wicking of this wax...I JUST WANT PERFECT!
  8. I think it is Care Bear that has a green dishwasher anyway??? I recently turned mine a lovely terra cotta color and it is still discolored! I have ran bleach through it a couple of times! I have had bubbles poof out of the dishwasher several times and just utilize it on my floors! I really have just stopped putting the soap dishes in the dishwasher alltogether. By the way, the soap I am referring to that turned my dishwasher pinkish also turned my friends tub a lovely pink. Thank God it cleaned up! Any suggestions on that? Did I just use way too much red oxide? These brilliant colored soaps I see on this board....do they also make funky colored bubbles?
  9. I read somewhere to add glycerin to m&p base to increase translucency. Does anyone use this method and how much is used?
  10. If you want a cream verses a butter ...I have used Connie's Peppermint Foot cream listed on the MMS website as a thicker body cream and love it. I tweak it here and there and leave out peppermint for the body. It is super easy and feel so good. It is not greasy feeling but moisterizing
  11. I just recently made a batch that I was going to experiment with and just not cut it until later. ( I think it looks cool when people sell "by the slice") The soap was downright slimey with oil. I just left it and cut it anyway, about a week later. It too smells super strong ( lemon poppyseed ) but the oil it now gone and it is on it's way to being a keeper! Just hide it from yourself! I bet it will be ok.
  12. Whole Foods does carry it but most of the time it is a bit pricey. You could just use more of the other oils.
  13. I recently bought the peach from Candlescience and WOW! it has a great throw in the GB444! One of my testers is begging for another peach candle! Funny...sometimes I think peach scents smell like cat pee!
  14. how about sharing the new swirling technique. I like jacked up!
  15. I am almost embarrassed to tell this one but tonight I made some soap with a red oxide and kinda rinsed the bowl with the colorant and threw it in the dishwasher. Apparently, I did a lousey job at it because my dishwasher is now a pretty terra cotta color. It is now washing again....with bleach. It is better to wait and wash up the next day if you can stand the bowls around that long.
  16. That is a pretty soap! I am soooo gonna try this with some uglies I have in the "soap closet". I never have much luck rebatching..but I think I may be able to swing this! Great looking soap! Thanks for the idea.
  17. I buy the 2 and 5 pound bags of glycerin soap from Hobby Lobby when they have the 40% off too! The clear is not as clear as I like but when it is so cheap it is easy to get over it. It is a decent soap but not super!
  18. I recently put some of those in a gift basket for a bride inside these little gift "boxes" from the dollar tree. They are kinda shaped like a carrot! They are gold and silver with little ties at the top! I wish I could describe it better! Anyone else know what I am talking about? I could get about 4 of the heart shaped soaps in one of them.
  19. I think it looks cool! I personally like it when the sides cling a little. It makes it an original...not to be duplicated.
  20. I use the presto pot and sometimes I use the spigot and sometimes I just dip the wax out. Either way, it is much better than a double boiler anyday! Easy cleanup too!
  21. Happy....it really makes me unhappy! Some coriander and bergamot makes me have terrible headaches.
  22. I am not currently using Millcreek but have in the past and had no problems mixing my fragrance oils. I have a new base and I heat it before adding the FO and it combines quite nicely. Maybe that will work with Millcreek too
  23. I made my very first big bundt cake the other day and although the coloring was not what I was looking for....I thought it was a good first....except after about 12 hours the drizzle appeared to have air bubbles under it and it then looked well....like wax! I poured the drizzle much cooler. What type wax or coloring do you use for both the cake and drizzle to obtain the best looking "cake"? ALSO.... do you put the mold in a water bath? How do people acheive the cakey look and not the shiny wax look? Thanks Oh by the way! I think the baby bundt is really cute and a great first!
