  1. I have noticed too that my cphp soaps are softer. I certainly get a more consistent bar of soap using the method but would like to know how to change my recipe a little to get the bar to turn out harder. Does anyone have suggestion for a harder bar using the cphp method?
  2. I certainly do not know the best software but I will tell you what I do. I just use business card and fold them in half. Sometimes just the template from any software and put my design stuff on it. I punch a hole and there it is!
  3. I had also read the dangers of using them as firestarters and just sold them as room fresheners. I dipped my pine cones in soy wax scented is cinnamom or balsam and they were very popular for the winter season. If the scent needed to be a little revitalized, i just used a hair dryer on low for a few seconds and it was back! Of course these were used in a basket and decorative as well.
  4. That label gives me a good, at home feeling! I really like it! Good job
  5. Ok I just wanted to admit when I first saw this post I was soooo amazed ( still ) and wanted to try this immediately. I found the time last night and mine turned out....well not so good. The "water" is cloudy and my fish is dead . I will try again! You all are awesome and so creative!
  6. I am REALLY new to pillars and trying to make those purdy ones. How about the IGI 1274? I have tried this and right now can smell my pomegrante and orange candle from another room...and that is the cold throw! I have only tried the veggie blend pillar was from KY supply and I liked it ok. Any opinions on the 1274?
  7. I don't know anything about that particular blend. Is it a veggie blend? I have used soy for clamshells and melts when there is some left over. If it is a pillar blend it is most likely going to be hard enough but as far as the slushy pour part...it depends on the blend. My soy pillars blends are poured hotter. So...in other words....I don't know
  8. Just with the little bit of candle experience of three years....I have used glitter on the tops of my soy container candles as decorative....especially during the Christmas season as well as "hiding" the frosting that was associated with the darker color soy candle tops. When it is burned the glitter just floats towards the wick and does not stay evenly distributed. It works as a selling point but not as a keeper.....does that make sense???
  9. The J223 just gave me lots of wet spots and soot. I personally like the soy and soy blends much better. I am soon trying the CB advanced NEW wax! I guess it all depends on the user and what is expected. J223 has a terrific scent throw,
  10. I have ordered and have been very pleased with the fragrances.
  11. it was the liquid colorant from WSP..the ingrediants are INCI Ingredients: Glycerin, Water, Ultramarine Purple, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, EDTA, Benzophenone 4. I used it as I saw the color change I wanted initially but then it disappeared. I was actually trying to swirl it...or whatever you call it in the crockpot. I was working with a 3 pound batch. Thanks for replying all yas! I thought maybe the whining would at least get a reply if not a nasty pm! thanks....:smiley2:
  12. I see the best of both worlds! You can call it Rustic Draping! Very nice!
  13. no one knows? no one cares......
  14. I was making a lavender mint cphp the other day and when I added my purple coloring at the end of processing...it mostly disappeared. I have had problems with purple/lavender colors with CP but don't understand why it would go away in CPHP. I always though the lye was responsible for coloring problems. Any ideas? could it have still been a little too hot? I was using WSP liquid colorant that I have used in CP.
  15. I am pretty sure Borax is Boric Acid. I think one of you more experienced soapers.....hint hint should definately try it out and let us know!! My last two batches accelerated soooooo quickly I was moving like flash gorden!
  16. I found Palm for my first batches of soap at a Wholefoods market. Luckily, there was also dollar off coupons for the stuff because it was about 7 dollars for a tub.....I forgot the actual size maybe the size of a crisco container? anyway, it is by Spectrum and it is a natural non hydrogenated alternative to shortening. It was in the oil section. If you don't have a Wholefoods, maybe a healthfood store.
  17. I wan to make some of the purdy pillars! I have been a soy container wax user for years and recently delved into "the blend". Anyway...I want to make some rustics, swirlies, layered, mottled...you know...all those beautiful candles I see on the galleries. Since I was told I cannot do this with a veggie wax...which wax is recommended by the pros? I have seen the IGI 1343 mentioned on this board but was wondering if there are other opinions out there. Thanks!!
  18. Ok I know I am going to get slammed for this one....where exactly does one find a martha mold?
  19. I personally think the frosted look is awesome. I really like the labels!
  20. I have only made containers and a few pillars with a soy or soy blend. I would like to try some of the pillars using techniques shown on this board such as draping and mottling. Can all these be done with soy pillar blends? Are they exclusively for paraffin? Could someone direct or tell me what the limitations or what veggie wax works best with pillar "specialties" or variations? Thanks!!
  21. no laughing here....I am impressed!
  22. I made this one today so I cannot actually tell you if it is a good one or not. I borrowed it from "the whisk". Shaving Soap for Men 2 oz avocado oil 3 oz castor oil ( at trace) 8 oz coconut 1 oz jojoba 10 oz olive 8 oz palm 1 oz shea butter 1 teaspoon vitamin E (at trace) 1 oz aloe (at trace) 2 tablespoons bentonite clay 11 oz water 4.5 oz lye 1.5 oz bay rum FO Add the clay to the castor oil, then add this to soap mixture at trace.
  23. Before the site went down there was talk of a new...CB Advanced....has anyone heard anything else about it? Was I dreaming this? I cannot seem to find anything about this wax.
  24. Silly me! I never even thought of Sallys or Wallmart! Geez....where is my head lately?? Thanks
