  1. Let her think what she wants. As a convience store clerk...I wonder about some customers and what they buy. The thing that really drives me nuts is the people that put $5.00 of gas in their car about 4 times a day. Why bother....it only gets you 1 1/2 gallons...if that. Anyway...you know what you are doing with the baby food.
  2. I use a LX20 wick in these. Full melt pool in a hour.
  3. Glad to be of help. Frosting and wet spots are just plain ugly.
  4. I'm sure of it. The only thing I changed in the formula was the 1/2 T. Coconut Oil. I burnt this already. Burns perfect.
  5. The burgundy colored candle is Huckleberry (always frosts and wet spots like crazy) with 1/2 Tablespoon Coconut Oil added to 1 pound of wax. The green colored candle is Heaven Scent. There is quite a difference here. I don't want to burn the Huckleberry one, it's so pretty.
  6. They all look great. The chocolate sundae is the one though. Glad I just pigged out on m & m's.
  7. I use the Zots glue dots from a scrapbooking store. Now I see WalMart has them. Anyway...I use either the pointed end of my thermometer or a pen end to push the wick tab down all the way around it. Then I pull on the wick to make sure it is secure. Sometimes with palm wax, it will still come loose. But with Soy, I don't have any problems.
  8. I use LX's in both soy and palm. So far, I haven't had to change size.
  9. Looks good to me. I like your color. You took a good picture.
  10. Very nice. Gotta love palm wax. So pretty.
  11. Nice looking candle. I like working with feathered palm wax. You never know how it's going to turn out. Almost every color I've done has a different pattern to it.
  12. Very pretty. I like both kinds. The votives are really cute. I would like to know also.
  13. Hi and welcome to candletech and candlemaking. Do you have a wick picked out to start with for each size? Sampler packs of wicks are good to start with. I would pick a container, (any size you want), a wick that might work and go for it. There are several wick guide charts to go by. The one that I tend to use the most is www.candlescience.com With Soy, I usually go up two sizes from what they suggest. Have fun and good luck. This is a great board to ask questions and get answers from. Remember, there is no dumb question. Use the search feature first though. There's alot of information here.
  14. I like that. Glitter and all. Really nice.
  15. Thank you. I guess I'm going to be buying some more supplies. I've been reading about these. It's time to order the stuff and get some made.
  16. When you make ornies are you using the mini or the regular size cookie cutters?
  17. Hi and welcome. Candle making like soap making can be very addictive. To start with, I suggest buying a kit. I started with a container kit. Just pick a supplier who is close to you and go for it. Some of your fragrance oils will probably work with candles. They should either say on the bottle or the suppliers website. Votives are not easy. 3x4 pillars are easier for me. I started with soy...you need to figure out what brand you want to buy. Then after I got it figured out, I went to palm. I really like the palm wax. Now I am working on gel wax. Just pick a starting project...get it down...then move on.
  18. Thank you. I'm a smoker also, so that smell won't bother me.
  19. Do the car air freshener blanks from Bell & Comapny Traders come with their own bag? I thought at one time I read this on their site. Now I"m not.
  20. I used the pet bedding from WalMart, the regular size cupcake liners, no wick. Put the bedding in, pour wax (I just poured so that some of the bedding is sticking out the top). Wait for them to cool and use or package. I just made some more using dixie cups. I mixed the bedding in with my wax, then spooned it in the cups. My cups are the 5 oz size, (had them already and no use for 'em). Today was my first time making these, so I am thinking of all kind of ways to do them. My husband even likes them.
  21. You are welcome. I use the wick suggestion chart on www.candlescience.com for a starting point. I usually have to wick up a couple sizes from their suggestions.
  22. I've been reading about firestarters for a while now. Today I decided that I would buy the pet bedding stuff and try them. Wow...why did I wait so long...easiest thing I've ever made.:smiley2:
  23. Hi and welcome to candle making. Your wick is too small. What is the diameter of the widest part of your container? Different waxes and fragrance oils play a part here also. For the most part it has to do with the diameter of the container. I use soy and palm wax with the lx series wicks.
  24. OK...I'm taking both answers and kinda combining them. I'm making a tri-fold brochure with scent descriptions, burning instructions, etc. to leave there. My contact info is on every candle anyway, so if people wanted to contact me they could.
