  3. I recently had a candle gathering at my daughters house 2 weeks ago this friday. It was a total success for me and my daughter. So far it has sold a little over 500.00 with cash & carry, refills brought to the gathering, and orders for pick up at a later date. I still hope to get more new customers & christmas orders. We played candle bucks with play money I ask questions and my daughter passed out bucks. Then at the end before they went "shopping" I let them buy 2 gifts I had for the highest person & 2nd highest with the most money. All the other guest payed me there money for a votive that away no one went empty handed. I also talked a little how I got started, when, how long, ect. Then while we were playing a game of " the test of candle knowledge" which I usally do at gatherings to see how much they know about the burn & care of candles( this helps to instruct people on proper burning too, without them knowing what you are doing)) About 10 questions in all. So actually there was almost 2 things going on at once which makes people really listen so they don't miss out! The paper they used was the back of a printed order form I had done in advance. It ask for info for later use too, name, addy, ect. I ask for a survey of what type of candles they liked to burn but you could ask what type of products they like, similar to fit your open house, I ask them to write this on the form so I could look later. Then we went shopping and refreshments and I sat at the table to take orders or answer any questions. This was my 3rd party in about 5 years.I only do about 1 per year but could probally do more. It is work dragging all the stuff you have and candles are heavy to lug. I guess that is why I tend to not do to many. I may have to do more though. I hope some thing I've shared will help some out there. If any candlers want the things I ask for the test e-mail me at cabinlite@bright.net and I can see what I can come up with. Blessings to All, Jane

  6. Girls when you say rustic are you talking a look like mottling or snowflakes similar to yankme's wax in a jar or are you talking cakish type candles were you whipp the wax and apply it ? Sorry for so many questions I'm trying to figure what type of wax I need to get it mottled or at least what I call mottled or snowflake effect not exactly what I've seen called feathered I don't care for that look in candles. TIA Jane hope that made sence.
  7. $4.00 for 6 tealights sounds about right to me. I know I happened to check out Yankme's and they were 8.95 for 12 the other day at the mall. Jane

  13. Thanks girls for the suggestions. I have some orange clove I also need to use so I will do the 24 hr. q-tip test. I did the black cherry and baby powder was a great scent but I really don't sell much scents that are perfumy type. Thanks again, Jane
  14. I use to get hazelnutt creme from Missy's also cranberry muffin. If any body knows what these smell like and have used them could you tell me where I might order to get the same fragrance these both were such good sellers for me. I finally found the pumpkin pie spice that smells the same as hers was which was buttery. Thanks, Jane
  15. Hi I have this fragrance and either need to rename or mix with something else any help or suggestions would be helpful. Actually I really would like to mix with something to move it. Blessings to All, Jane
  16. I use Christmas Eve from At Wix End and it smells just like Yankme. I sell a lot of it. And to the poster who wanted to know if it was same or similar to Christmas Splendor no they do not smell any thing alike IMO. HTH Jane
  17. I've noticed a lot of you are listing Autumn Harvest as a top fragrance for fall where can I get this scent and is it the same smell as Yankme candle dupe or something different. What is your supplier for this scent please? Jane
  18. To Lesia could you tell me where you pick your stuff up from the candlemaker store. Cause they told me it was only a warehouse and they only shipped this has been about 2 years ago though maybe they have changed it sure would save on shipping for me since I live in Ohio north of Dayton it would not be that far and they said they have a warehouse in Troy even closer. If you prefer to e-mail me my addy is cabinlite@bright.net. I hope you don't mind me asking this , cause I can't get the pm feature to work on this board if anyone can help with that too I would appreciate it. Thanks & Blessings, Jane
  19. Thanks Kristinesshower for the imput. I have not heard of pink sugar which supplier has it. Also I get a lot of scents from Nature's Garden since I live in Ohio. I guess I have at least 75 scents to choose from. I need actually to start eliminating some. Thanks for the advice. Jane
  20. I am having a party this friday. I thought I could display individual votives in poly zip bags in baskets. Like have a basket with a sign made from card stock glued on the front of it " The Coffee Shoppe " then have all coffee type scents in it. Also : The Bake shoppe - with all bakery scents The Christmas Shoppe - with all Christmas scents Also : The Fall Harvest or Fall Thyme or Harvest Bounty on the basket - with all fall scents. Summer's Bounty - all summer clean type scents, ozone type, airy type scents. Spring Bouquet or Spring Thyme - with springish scents. The Apple Basket - With all apple scents cause I have so many of them. I have not come up with anything for perfumy type scents which I sell the least but do have some. any ideals??? I am not doing all these baskets this friday but will do fall & christmas for sure, I wanted to share this and see if you all had any other imput on the ideal. Feel free to make any suggestions or do this your self for displays. Blessings to All, Jane
  21. Try www.factorydirectcraft.com they may have what you are looking for. Beware they stay out of stock a lot cause the more you buy the cheaper. Hope you find what your looking for. Blessings, Jane
  22. I usally add at the beginning when I put my wax on to melt. I'm not sure this is proper but it has always worked for me. Just be sure you don't add to much it will lock up the fragrance and then you won't be able to smell your candle. Live and learn that's me LOL! Jane
  23. That sounds like it may work. but I still would like to know where to get shrink wrap? I use to use a shrink gun when I worked in a factory so I think I could get the hang real easy without melting the tarts. Jane
  24. Where can I buy shrink wrap for tarts reasonable? Also do you have problems with them looking bad after people have handled them? I use cello bags now and they look crunchy after people handle them so much then I have to rebag or remelt and pour over. This is getting tiresome. Any help is appreciated or any suggestions. Thanks, Jane
  25. Hi, I was wondering how everyone is pricing thier tealights in plastic containers? I know they are up in price in the stores. So I was just wondering. I am going to bag them in 6 to a package also 2/pkg what would you charge for these size pkgs. Also what do you sell votives for I usally put them in 3x4 ziplock poly bags. I was thinking on the lines of $1.25 each or 6 for $6.00 but these will have to be special ordered and the same scent to get that price. I hope I won't overcharge or undercharge either (bad for me). Any input will be helpful, and thanks. Blessings, Jane
