  1. Thanks for all the replies, I ended up adding some orange clove to tame it down a bit. It will be ok for me to burn just so it doesn't get wasted. If I burn it and can't stand the smell it will go in the trash or goodwill or give it to somebody to burn. But only someone I know just to finish burning it. I remember my sister-in-law gave me a gardenia scented candle years ago I tried to burn it in the house and out on the porch and just could not tolerate it. I finally sent it to the goodwill. Someone who loves that scent got a good deal it was a large Yank**. LOL !! Thanks chandlers for the help.
  2. Somebody please make a suggestion. I have a large jar that my daughter was going to throw away and I said I will take that knowing it was not one of my favorite fragrances but my heart sank just to know wax was going in the trash. LOL!!! I was thinking something to soften or totally give it another smell if possible. So any help would be appreciated.
  3. what would be good to mix with cool citrus basil? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks
  4. Thanks everyone for the replies on the tart prices. My thoughts on prices were not to far off. Its been a while since I have had to buy wax and I know it will be higher than the last time I bought some. Hence the reason for my question.
  5. Could anyone share what they charge now a days for tarts that are round and fluted on the edges? It has been a long time since I have sold any and an old customer wants some? $ for 1 tart? $ for 6 tarts? $ for 12 tarts? Please any imput is and would be appreciated.
  6. I just wipe the stove off with a old wet soapy dish rag while the stove is still warm the wax is soft and comes right up only tiny splatters. I set my containers / molds in a cardboard box that is flat with short short sides that I get from the grocery store I go to. If and when the box gets over spills which isn't to often I usally burn it in my fireplace to start a fire or throw away. I am very blessed to have a daughter that can get use baby wipe material from the end bolts that is discarded were she works for free, I cut them up about the size of a small dish towel to use for wipe ups also. Don't know what I will use if she ever quits or they move out. I am usually pretty tidy. LOL!!!!
  7. Does anyone know where I can get this at? I use to get it at wix end it was right on like yankees, I have a sample from the cms and it is not smelling the same, other than that I am at a loss as to where to order from. Can anyone suggest for me. thanks
  8. Thanks Raven for the info, I think I might just try a slab and drive a little further south to get my usual wax from steve the candle maker store. You can pick up your order but they do not have a store, so that saves on shipping. Also Eric I do know candle source uses zinc wicks in thier candles they sell in the store, not sure that info is any help to you as some ppl won't use zinc wicks or doesn't like them. And to the poster who uses the wood wicks with the wax from tcs thanks for sharing that info. Now I can experiment and feel like I am not wasting my time or money. If I ever do sell any candles with there wax I won't be able to claim they are soy or even part soy since we don't know what the other stuff is.LOL!!! you can't blame them for keeping a secret and not telling which wax it is. You guys are awesome.
  9. Ok, I looked at there wax and the one on the left is what they use the one with the "other stuff added" just wonder what that might be. I have burned there candles and they do burn good and smell good. Some fragrances are stronger than others which most suppliers are this way. Just wished I knew for sure the exact wax it is after all there is only a few major manufactures of wax. As far as a straight parrifin she doesn't carry that and I have never seen any straight soy candles from there store. I guess I like to know what manufacture makes what waxes these supply stores use so one can know exactly what it is and how to use it and for what applications and wicks would be ok to use. I suppose I could just experiment but that is so expensive, at least I would have a starting point by knowing what the wax is. OK I am done rantting, LOL!!! thanks for listening or reading.
  10. Thanks for the info. You would think she would know what's in the wax she sales. Maybe someone will know what blend it is also about wood wicks. Or maybe even a number so I could look up the info on it. I have used straight parrifin and also the one pour type softer waxes, that missy's use to carry believe it was called "one pour". Candle source is drivable for me so I would save on shipping with a wax purchase got to save all we can with this economy. Thanks again for your info in the above 2 post.
  11. Does anyone know what there wax is ? What blend or number and company makes it? I want to use it but not sure what to tell people it is ( soy, soy blend, ect.) any info would be appreciated. Also do you think wood wicks could be used in this wax successfully? I feel like expermenting!!! LOL!!!! I have not bought this wax but was thinking about it.
  12. I always add a little black to deepen it. Light shavings if you are using a block then test, add more if needed.
  13. Just tried it and it smells like a spicey pumpkin pie spice, somewhat like make scents pp spice. The pumpkin cheesecake smelled good too, I could detect nutmeg or ginger not sure which spice I was smelling, cause I'd jhave to go smell each spice and I am not home right now. Pumpkin bread smells yummy and I have not burned it yet. I love pumpkin scents.
  14. Thank you all so much I will try Tenn. we are going there at the end of Oct. so may even get to actually visit the place if they have a store front. I will check them out on the web site. If you know of any other scents that are to die for from Tenn candle please let me know. Blessings to all, Jane
  15. Does anyone know a supplier who carries this scent? thank you I couldn't find the link for the fragrance finder. Blessings, Jane
  16. Thanks Stella1952, I plan on trying more soy wax to find the one I like working with. I just wonder why people won't reveal there brand to the customers who buy it so they can gain the best knowledge to work with that particular wax. It's hard to ask for help with problems when your not sure exactly what wax you may be using and this is a local supplier that I can drive to, to save on shipping cost. Trial & Error is the name of the game with making candles and test, test, test. Do you have any suffestions which to use of the Golden Brands I want a one pour if possible, I like the tops smooth but the flakey look doesn't bother me either. Any suggestions on which wax would be appreciated. Candlegranny
  17. The supplier is At Wix End. It looks like it might be Gateway where she gets it but it has no numbers to check, just her own slip of paper for the instructions. It would be nice to know what it is in case I would like to try some other brand and have to order it from a supplier. I don't want to get the same thing as she has should I not like how it preforms and burns in my applications. Thanks to all who responded and if anybody else has any info or thoughts, commments I would appreciate them also. Thanks again, Candlegranny
  18. I am wanting to try my hand at soy candles only for myself. I have done single pour j50 and straight parrafin. I mostly do jar candles. The place I get wax is a candle supply place in Ohio. But she will not reveal what wax it is and calls it her blend. It's called Homegrown Blend SOYCB What I would like to know is the manufacture and more about it. I don't really think she has it special made because she is not that big of a supplier. I ask if it was pure 100% soy she said yes but I am having my doubts about it. What is your take on this situation? It is flakes or granuals, kinda clumps togeather when you squeeze it. As I said I really have not used soy before and would love to start using it because it is a cleaner burn for sure. Any help or assistance would be appreciated. You can e-mail me to at cabinlite@embarqmail.com or just answer here. Candlegranny
  19. Thank you for your replies. I am really confused by what this wax is but the directions say it is homegrown blend soypb. It says it will give a marble effect. Heat to 200 then add dye and then fragrance pour into heated metal molds. The place I got it was a candle supply that sells only supplies for candlemaking but they never want to tell you the manufacture or the actual name of the product, they create there own ( marketing purposes ) can't blame then I guess. Anyway I was going to make a 3x4 pillar, I only have about a pound of wax. I looked at this wax really close and it looks like small round beads, but powdery at first glance, If that helps to identify what type it is, maybe not. I just feel very confused now with it. I may have to try to get another wick other than zinc core. I will do a search and see what I can come up with. Once again thanks for the help. I welcome any other or further coments as well. Jane
  20. Hi, I am attempting to make a para-soy ( palm ) wax pillar. At least that is what they told me the wax was. The place had one and it had these beautiful star - feathered look to it. I asked what wick and was told I could use zinc but to wick up, that was about a year or so ago. My actual ? is can I use a zinc wick? I am not intending to make these candles for resale only just to try one for myself. I only do parrafin candles & have used one pour wax such as J-50 in the past. So when it comes to this type of wax and look I am completely dumb. I just want it to burn and was told it wouldn't burn at all with a zinc cored wick which is all I have right now. Actually I would of purchased a different wick today but called her when I was on my way home to ask about the wick, which she said cotton cause the zinc would not burn at all, even though the same person said a zinc would work last year. I may have to wait till I go again which is far away for me, but would love to make one soon. Any help would be appreciated. Jane
  21. This is a great help and I like the names you suggested. I just want to move this scent, I'm afraid it will go bad on me. Any other suggestions I'm open to them.
  22. Any suggestions to mix with cake bake to move this scent. I have 8oz.bottle and this is not a scent I am fond of so I figure maybe mixing it with another scent would help.
  23. These sound wonderful especially the raspberry & sugar cookie. Yummmm!!! I'll be trying that one.
  24. Thank you for the replies, I have vanilla (too many lol!) I also have pink sugar. I think I'll do the q-tip test first to check what the fragrance will smell like. I knew I could depend on your thoughts for this my brain was having a deadlock senior moment. lol!!! and I really didn't want to place an order for anything new right now. I really need to use some of the scents I have on hand with the economy the way it is. Also do you think candy corn might work to give a frosting smell when mixed with the buttercream? I'll have to q-tip that one too. Again thanks everyone I so appreciate it.
  25. Nature's gardens is good, also peaks is good. But in my opnion mrs claus cookies has a musk tone that I can smell. It is still a good fragrance but not a true sugar cookie due to the musk undertones. jmo
