  1. Corence, If this was my project, I would start at an embroidery shop, someone who has their own embroidery machine, it would not have to be a big expensive one. If you could get the lanyard secure on a hoop, I think you could embroider on the strap, if it is too thick, you might consider having an embroidery shop make you some small personalization on a sort of heavy cloth to prevent puckering, and then iron that on or hand sew it on. OH Cathy
  2. Is your Lanyard a safty harness?
  3. Would anyone be kind enough to share where to purchase this in larger quanity? I have made molds with the purple and I would like to try using the pink. I have no idea what it's really called. Thanks everyone. OH Cathy
  4. I have a helper that has made managing my little candle business much more fun, we work so well together. He measures, mixes, pours, I don't think he gives a rats behind about starting his own candle anything. Because he has worked right beside me for so long now, he sees the expense involved in testing, purchasing in bulk, all the way to finished, and loaded. If anything, he does not care to see any candle product after I get done with him some days. He is as proud of what we get done in a day as I am, I am the lucky one. I don't worry about it, I understand why you might, I have had 2 old friends try candles, they did not do it for long. but, can't you just tell when someone is overly interested in what you do that might make you suspicious? I get that a lot a shows, just questions out of left field.
  5. We have a 10x20 and two easy ups for shows. We secure our tents in 2 ways depending on what kind of a surface we are located. For asphalt - On each pole of the 10 x 20 we fill five gallon buckets with water and put the lids on the buckets. To the handle we hook a good quality rubber bungie, wrap it around the pole and hook it up it the top of the frame. With the cover on the bucket you can devise some kind of cover for the bucket, if that does not matter, we leave the tops off and people with critters give them drinks from it. For Grass -we have those sprial dog tie out stakes that screw into the ground about a foot or so. When they are twisted all the way to the ground, you can't see much but the top, and to that we attach the rubber bungie on the hook of the stake and wrap it around the pole legs and hook it up into the top of the tent. If you use the dog tie outs, make sure to take a hammer or something to fit thru the top of the tie out handle to help you twist it all the way in the ground, sometimes that is really tough and if you are there for 2 days sometimes they are very hard to unscrew from the ground. Odd Lots has them cheap. We prefer the buckets, they are easy, but sometimes water is a long way off, but if we even think high winds are around we use the dog tie outs. We have held tight in some nasty weather, and if that is the case, we drop our sides to protect the product, and get out from under it. I hope all this is helpful. OH Cathy
  6. Thank you PA for the kind words. I have no idea what I am really doing, but so far I have bumbled along. I have read and read so much, I keep thinking if I read everything twice it may sink in. I found the cutest template that has my burgundy and cream colors, it looks clean and uncluttered, but not prim or country, I might even try that. Thanks again PA.
  7. Two years ago I purchased domain names. That is a far as I got until now. This weekend, I finally got my Go Daddy email up and running, I felt so successful, that I started reading about hosting. I think I have decided on Designer 218. Also a long time ago, I purchased graphics country clip art. I have a light box, I have taken crappy pictures, but I just found a turorial that will help. So I got all my ducks in a row, I went on the hunt for a couple of Dummy books, in case I need to know something regarding the county clip art and getting it over onto a site. No Dummy books anywhere tonight. So today, I read, tomorrow I have orders to fill, maybe I will be brave enough to just DO THIS Soon. Dummy on the loose. Any advice?
  8. I ordered from them for the first time not too long ago. The order was complete, shipping was fast, and the product was excellent.
  9. I made one using Peaks base and a nice vanilla from JS. It is in a VERY small bathroom, and I cannot for the life of me smell it, nor can the guests that use that bathroom. I do not think I did anything wrong, mixed according to the directions on the base. I have enough base and reeds to give it one more try. I am glad I just got enough base for a couple for me.
  10. I just received a silicone cone mold from van yulay. The picture on the site shows it old and grubby. I cannot show the pic as the site is down till April 1. It seems like I read somewhere to roll in cinnamon or mix cinnamon and oil to get that effect but I am unable to find it now. I would like to understand how to make this cone look grungy before April 1. I sent van yulay an email when I purchased the mold but no reply yet. Any ideas, thanks in advance
  11. I think there are candle paints available at Hobby Lobby, maybe Michaels or WalMart. I used black arcrylic paint from Delta from WalMart from the craft dept. to do the eyes. I dyed the wax from my mold orange then the eyes did not glow after painting them, but every other part of the pumpkin did. I never painted as much area as your mold might need with any kind of paint, I did not think it would hold up under much touching, but you might be able to paint the area and then dip it in uncolored wax to preserve the painted area from dings.
  12. That company might suggest you paint it, that is, pour the mold in white, unmold and paint it. I had the same question when ordering the pumpkin mold. I could not get it thru my head how they made the eyes glow in the picture. When you see the white heart in that electric, you are looking at white wax illuminated, not a hole in the shell. Back then, I had to ask and then phone that company, they told me they thought I was a competitor and told me to figure it out for myself. There are many good mold makers spoken of here, consider the customer service before you buy your mold...
  13. There are two types of DE. Food Grade and the Grade for Pools are different. I use CodeX Food Grade DE for my hens. I use it in my nest boxes for parasite control. I have the feed mill mix it in my chicken feed for internal parasite control, harder shells on eggs and great plumage. I know this may be more information that you needed, but if you would like more on the DE, you might find it here. www.homesteadingtoday.com Most of my reading has been on the Poultry section of this board, when I first started reading about it, I just did a search and there was plenty of info pro and con.

  15. The dyes from the CandleMakers store have used here for a long time. I can't say anything too bad about them, but I bought Peak's dyes from a coop last year, and I like them better. Candle Makers Store In Plastic Crappy dropper Colors different each batch of new dye Peaks In Glass w nice dropper included Concentrated so not much is needed Great color
  16. Quite a few years ago I was shaking a bottle of blue dye in my kitchen and the top was not on tight, it went every where. I called Steve at www.thecandlemakersstore.com and he sent me something out and I had it the next day. It was some sort of a very strong orange cleaner maybe a solvent...I wet a paper towell with it and the next day the stains were gone. Maybe goo gone would help or a strong orange cleaner.
  17. Thanks Indy Girl, not close really but it could be a road trip if I liked it. Abundantgrace, I am 1 county N. of you, and I like Julie's little store, she is great, and that cash register is awesome, I think. I checked Steve's site and did not see the 4627, nor at Creative, JS, Tristate, still looking. Thanks all...OH Cathy
  18. Does anyone know of a supplier of 4627 in OH or WV??? Thanks a bunch OH Cathy
  19. I have a ProPay Premium account and it does a good job for me. ProPay sent me an email to let me know my account was activated after they received my check, seems like it was under a week. After I return home from a show is usually when I process my transactions as this works for me, I have had 1 declined transaction, so I do have advice about that. Make Sure you see a drivers licence that matches the CC. Make sure you get that 3 digit security # on the back of the card and the exp. Make sure you get the customers address correct including the zip, and ask if the billing address is the same address as the billing statement. I now make a note of the financial institution the card is from, my decline could have been saved with this info and my sleuthing. I always get a signed copy and run it thru a knuckel buster, available on ebay. You can process at a show via phone if you have a cell, I don't bother with it that way. I have the funds deposited in a MC that they provide, that way no more of my personal info is floating around. You can use the MC until it is empty just like a CC and I have only found 1 place that could not get the card to work. And yes, I think customers buy more when they use them. HTH's...OH Cathy
  20. I have purposely used Astor V for many pillars. Wicked correctly while it burns the Astor V will leave a shell that does not loose its shape. Astor V is a Votive wax.
  21. My Lavender is little too. I planted 2 plants and they have grown a little, but I did not get much flower this year. My friend planted 1 plant last year and it is huge this year, maybe next year mine will be bigger. I have watered it well and not fertilized, maybe I should have. I am wondering if one variety of Lavender is better than another for collecting and fragrance?
  22. Just placed an order with KY and my Grandma's Cupboard will be with my next order, I just started using KY's oils and have not been dissapointed. Great Customer Service, Vick is great.
  23. The cutlery from Rada is great. I have several knives but I do not know about the candle line.
