  1. When I made my first soys for sale I did not color them and they sold just fine, not a peep out of any customer. I have since put back color because I missed it, not because any one complained. I was suprised that no color sold as well as colored, each one had a different ivory look because of the colors of the fragrance oils.
  2. AMISH COUNTRY CANDLE SUPPLY - no website CONNIE WILLIAMS classybaker@hotmail.com she is about 15 minutes from Lancaster, PA in Columbia, PA You can pick up at her warehouse location in Columbia.
  3. www.conniescandles.com has some of Missy's oils I think the web site has an (M) beside the name of the fragrance if it is a Missy oil
  4. 70% 464-30% J50 the new J50. 12 oz mason. Heated to 175 cooled to 150 and poured. Great tops but always a crack at the wick, can fix with Heat Gun but Getting cracks everywhere. Top to bottom, around the sides. Any ideas? Tried pouring a little cooler, not much change. Tried cooling slower, same result. 73 degrees 60%humidity, always about the same.
  5. Sure did not mean to confuse you. I test burn CD wicks starting with 8's all the way up to 20 but most times a CD 10 will work just fine, sometimes a 12 if the oil is heavy. This is 464 no additives. I just make a lot of testers to see what works with a lot of different wicks. I always start with 8's and make a lot of SM testers, burn them side by side to see which one I like the best.
  6. I am trying 464 am I am having pretty good results with it. I am not having the trouble with scent leaving at half burn. I use CD's 8-12 depending on the fragrance, usually test in 8oz SM.
  7. Is Eco Pure about the same as GB 415 or GB 464? I would like to try making a blend.
  8. I am using a cd wick, 8 % fo, pouring at 135, curing 7 days, I get frosting, but no loss of throw. In 464.
  9. I added 7 oz of Crisco to 3 lbs of 464, 8% fo, poured at 135 and got ugly tops, great color and no frosting. I used the heat gun and the tops are still like cottage cheese. I will let them set a few days and burn. Next day the frosting reappeared. I also added 7oz of mineral oil to 3lbs of 464, same results, ugly tops, can't smooth them out with a heat gun. I will try cutting down on the Crisco, just to cut the frosting, and forget the mineral oil. Just a last note to anyone considering this. At one week the Crisco candles started to sweat, this is not good for me. The straight 464 candles did not sweat.
  10. I hope someone can give some imput on this. I have been testing with GB464 and I have the wicking test completed, and I am getting smooth tops, but in order not to see the frosting, I have been making them w/o dye. Has anyone added Crisco or Mineral OIl to the GB464 and noticed any change in frosting issues?, or wicking/throw/color changes? I sure do miss my colors. Hoping to hear from anyone that uses GB464 and having good results with it. I would really like to make this wax part of my line because I can pick it up w/o shipping and that is such a saving. And yes, I searched and found a couple of old threads. Thanks to all who reply...OH Cathy
  11. Hi Dixie, I am glad that you are starting wGB464 so I have someone to compare with. I sure don't have any words of wisdom, but I do have pretty good luck w/CD12's in a SM. I don't have your wicks so I can't be of any help there. For me I have not got the color figured out yet, might not color them at all, just add UV. It seems the more color I add the frost shows up, maybe that is dye related, maybe it is there all the time and the dye makes it more visible. I get a great cold throw, and I am sad to say that some of my fragrances are not hot throwing well in this wax, but if I bump up to 8% it gets a little better. I let mine cure for 4-5 days before 1st burn. Most of the time I get smooth tops at 135-150 much higher, I get a slight dip or a hole. Good luck with your 464..OH Cathy
  12. I like the label on the left. The black stripe pops right out. Nice job.
  13. What section at Michael's do you find Diamond Dust? Thanks very much...OH Cathy
  14. A candle maker told me that FC & C dyes were the best, but they ordered directly from them, I don't need large quanities, just a hobby. Do you know any suppliers that sell their dyes, supposed to be in amber glass bottles? And does anyone use them with GB464? How do they preform? Thanks for help...OH Cathy
  15. I have sent you a pm about bears, I have lots that I don't have time to work with, if you are interested I will send some pic for you. Thanks, OH Cathy
  16. Thank you for the advice. I have always used UV on every colored candle I make so I had a feeling I they would yellow without UV. I make all of my testers w/o color and have noticed one in the bedroom turned bright yellow around the edges with natural light, RA Coco Mango, I noticed it changing within 1 week. The more candles I make w/o color, the more I am beginning to like them, so we will see how the customer takes to them. Thanks again...OH Cathy
  17. you do not dye the wax in the container? I am thinking about trying a few uncolored containers with a veg blend to see how they sell in my craft malls? Flourescent light is the light source. Thinking maybe I would see some yellowing if I did not use it. Thanks...OH Cathy
  18. I have seen this. I tested a soy blend from Calumet in the summer. It was all good. Then I poured them for a fall fundraiser and sink holes were awful. I adjusted pour temp, nothing helped. The dealer said it was humidity related.
  19. I have a shampoo base from Connies Candles, I added the thickner and fragrance, it lathers nice but I cannot get a comb through my hair and it is short. Is there something I can add to this base to make the shampoo leave my hair more combable? Thanks in advance to all who reply...Cathy
