  1. Hey Robin, what's the size of that booth? Is it 10 x 10? Looks small, but I've never done a setup before so not sure how much room I'll have ultimately. Thanx.
  2. Thanx for posting the photos, Robin. Gives me some much needed ideas!
  3. Yep, that's what I use! I'm new to soaping, so I don't really know any other way to do it yet. But I have to say, it only takes me a couple of minutes to get to trace with it. :highfive: The only time it took probably 15 minutes was whan I used a recipe high in cocoa butter. That 15 minutes seemed like a long time for me. LOL!
  4. You swirl really nice for a newbie. They look great!
  5. So when do we get to see some pics in the gallery??? :tiptoe:
  6. Hmmm...I've tried the Silk & Shea and thought it lathered just fine. So not sure. Are you adding other additives?
  7. So what do you guys think about stained glass? Would it withstand the heat of a candle? It's 1/8 inch thick.
  8. Thanx for the support! Unfortunately, looks like that show is a no-go for me. They are all filled up now. I was told I could be in, but they realized they overbooked and since I was the most recent sign-up, I got canned. Ah well, off to find another one.
  9. This is a timeframe I could do!
  10. Thanx for the reply. Actually, I wanted to make candles using some unique glass containers. The glass is 1/8" thick and I just wasn't sure if that'd be ok to withstand the heat. But you make a very good point with votive containers. I also looked at my jelly jars and they seem to be about 1/8" thick too, and they are ok. So I think I'll be good to go. As always, I'll test test test!
  11. This is a great and informative thread! I will be doing my first show in a couple of weeks and because of this thread, now I can have a readied response if/when I get questions about my formulas and suppliers, etc. If people want to know the ingredients, I'm perfectly willing to discuss the wonderful properties in my B&B, or to let them know I'm selling paraffin candles. But anything more specific, I'll just smile and say "I'm sorry but I don't give out proprietary information on my products. However, the internet will allow you to do a lot of research on your own if you're really interested."
  12. Thanx for all the comments, Meredith's especially. I had not really looked at it that way, that everyone's pace will be different. Yeah, I'll wait to see how the first fair goes and take it from there! I can't wait for the day! *super banana* Although I must admit I am quite frightened also. :embarasse
  13. Does anyone know what the minimum thickness (in inches) should be for a glass container? I wouldn't want to use something that might crack from the candle heat. TIA.
  14. Hi all, I'm doing my first craft fair soon and want to book other shows. However, I'm not sure how much time in between I will need to prepare. For one, not sure how well I will (or won't) sell at this first event. Ideally, I'd like to do something every other weekend. Is this too aggressive a schedule, or is this somewhat typical? I don't want to overbook myself and then not be able to keep up. At this point, if I pay the fee to get into an event I will not be able to get a refund if I later find that I can't keep up the pace. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated, as always. Thanx.
  15. My : if you've already tested these scents and are happy with them, before I just went to another supplier, I'd write a letter detailing my displeasure with the sales rep's attitude and responsiveness, and my feelings on how I've been treated and send it to the sales rep. If after that I STILL got rotten service, I'd send it to a higher up (director level), if you can find out who that might be (sometimes just asking the sales rep who their manager is is sufficient for them to get their butt in gear) and let them know that while I like the fragrances, if things didn't improve I'd be taking my business elsewhere AND I'd be letting everyone of my peers know of my displeasure with the company overall. If you still don't get satisfaction, then at least you know that the funky attitude is from the top down. Then it is definitely in your best interest to take your hard-earned $$$ elsewhere!
  16. Hmmm...Goes to show what I know. I thought the break-away cord was a safety feature. There have been times when I've had a spill all over the cord connection, so I would just pull the cord out to stop the flow of electricity to the hot wax that was spilling into it. Never thought that might be a problem. Thank goodness it hasn't been thus far. I guess the moral of the story is, with ANY appliance BE CAREFUL.
  17. What??? I can't believe I'm the only one!!! LOL! Hey, maybe I am a special customer. Lord knows I've given them a LOT of money over the last year! LOL! :rolleyes2
  18. Hi Kelly, I live in Wisconsin too. Hmmm, maybe it depends on who's packing the order?? I don't know. But mine have always come with either tape over the top (gallon size bottles) or in ziplock bags (pound size bottles).
  19. I've never ordered from BCS but I order from BCN all the time. Each time I've received liquid oils, they usually either have tape around the top or they are enclosed in a plastic ziplock. So even if they spilled or leaked, it would be contained somewhat. I agree with others, contact Doneen.
