  1. What about if you bought, say, a refurbished one direct from Primera? Would that be under warranty? It really is a great printer, in my opinion. For the quality and crispness of the images from this printer, it is a good printer to have. And the best part is you print on demand! So you can change your label design over and over. That way, when you are ready for offset you won't be looking at it saying, "I wish I had included..." like I am with my biz cards! :rolleyes2 Good luck on your search.
  2. I have that printer. It does print very nice labels. It is a great alternative if you need a lot of variations of a particular label, which is the case if you offer a lot of scents. Not sure they are the best idea for products that might get wet, though, like shower gels. But for candles and other B&B, I feel it is a good investment if you can't afford offset printing labels. If you decide to purchase one, shop around. The best price I've found is here: http://www.barcodebonanza.com/products/lx400-bar-code-printers.jsp, though I'm not sure if they ship to Europe.
  3. Was kinda wondering the same thing myself.
  4. Just be sure to mix the SLSa with one of your additives (FO or other oils), otherwise it'll clump when added to the soap. Ask me how I know.
  5. Gotta try the Sandlewood Rose! It is a wonderful, rosy, powdery scent...and STRONG!
  6. I've added SLSa to soap and was drowned in bubbles! It helps cuz then you can add so much more additives w/out killing the lather. A little SLSa goes a LONG way!
  7. Yep, great body butter that is! I use that recipe too. I've subbed the RBO with various other oils to test out the different feels. I haven't gotten a negative response yet! Now I make big batches and leave them unscented until I need a qty of a particular scent. Good job, yours looks so yummy!
  8. Hi all, newbie CP'er here. I just read through this complete thread and I see people talking about waiting for their oils to get to 80 degrees. Is this common? I was under the impression that the oils should be at around 100 - 110 degrees and same for lye. Am I wrong? Or are there dependencies? I wanna try this recipe but want to do it right! TIA.
  9. I sure would like to give them a try, but with a $50 minimum, it's not worth the risk!
  10. Wow, Brenda! As for swirling, you should teach a class! :highfive:
  11. Maybe this link will help: http://www.essencesupply.com/shrink/shrink.html
  12. What about an FO that discolors (like Pink Sugar)? Will TD circumvent that problem?
  13. When I first started out using M&P, I would add 1oz PP. And it would irritate me in certain areas...but I have sensitive skin. Something to consider if you plan to sell your soap. Not everyone can tolerate a lot of FO.
  14. Wow! BEAUTIFUL swirls! I so want to be able to do that! :highfive:
  15. Another question: where can I get TD? Thx.
  16. Thanx for the info, ladies! Gotta love this forum!
  17. How do you all get the really white looking CP soap? It seems to make swirls look that much better. Does it depend on the oils/butters used, or are you all adding a white color? TIA.
  18. So sorry to hear that, firegirl. But look at what a great learning opportunity this'll turn out to be. Cutting my first soap tonight (with fingers crossed). :embarasse
  19. Two CP's in one day??? Wow and congrats! :highfive: I did my first yesterday. Can't wait to pull it out of the mold when I get home today.
  20. You make it sound so simple! LOL! I was so worried about the lye just melting something away. :rolleyes2
  21. Yesterday I made my first ever batch of CP soap! Overall I think I did ok. I'll see for sure when I unmold it when I get home from work today. I think I over-blended it because I was at trace before I even got to add the FO. When I did add it, it got real thick on me. So my attempt at swirls failed. I am probably gonna have a big green blob in the middle of my soap. LOL! Anyhoo, once I finished, I looked at all the used containers and thought, "Now what?" I wasn't sure what to do with the leftover soap in the mixing bowl. So my question is, what is the normal cleanup procedure? And what about the container you use for the lye portion of the recipe? Some of it was still stuck inside the container, I didn't want to just rinse it and let it go down the drain as I wasn't sure what would happen. I also didn't want to just leave it sitting like I did the other containers. So I ended up throwing the container away (it was cheap anyway), but I assume there must be a better way? How do you all clean up? TIA.
  22. Wow! It all looks SO nice! I'm gonna soap for the first time this weekend. Your pics give me something to aspire to (eventually I mean, not this weekend ).
  23. Really??? Thanx WildflowerMama!!! I was thinking if I even touch it too long before it cures, my fingers might burn off. LOL! :rolleyes2 Can't wait to soap this weekend! :highfive:
  24. I've used FCO from WSP. It is fine. But you should look for a closer supplier to you. You can try lotioncrafter. They are in WA.
