  1. Absolutely georgous salt bars you made!:smiley2: Perfection! I love, love, love them. Way to go girl!:smiley2: Paul.....
  2. Pre-Creamed shortning is mainly tallow and lard. I render my own tallow. I call our local butcher and he saves me the kidney fat and sells it to me for like .15 cents per pound ground up for me. Kidney fat is the best fat to render from beef. I can give you some if you drop by. Paul....
  3. I use the 76* setting, but I think the SAP value is exactly the same. FCO is different though. For the pre-creamed shorting, use the SAP value of tallow. Just put the amount of pre-creamed shortening in as "tallow" in that calculator. I think you will really like this recipe. Paul....
  4. Wal-Mart Soap Recipe All these oils can be purchases at most Super Wal-Mart stores. The numbers on this recipe are really good! This is a very nice bar of soap. You might want to take a slight water discount, say like a 30 to 31% solution and take a 5.5% lye discount. Here it is in percentages of total 100% oils; Coconut Oil............30% Olive Oil.................24% Crisco....................22% Canola................... 9% Safflower............... 9% Castor................... 6% This is a very decent recipe. It needs a good 4 to 6 week cure time to develop fully and harden more. Personally, I like to add a little Great Value Pre-Creamed shortening that contains tallow and lard, and a little lard to the recipe. This conditions a bit better and adds hardness to the bar too. I would take the Crisco down to 10% and add 7% tallow shortening and 8% lard and refigure online at the Sooz ( http://www.soapcalc.com/calc/soapcalcWP.asp ) calculator. Paul.....
  5. Sure, a simple 4 oil recipe you can get from Wal_Mart is easy! I can PM you a decent recipe, or post it in a new thread if you want. Someone else may give you a "supermarket" recipe too, or check the archives. A simple 4 or 5 oil batch can be a really fantastic bar of soap, a "synergy" of oils makes all the difference. Thanks! Paul....:smiley2:
  6. Super WalMart carries Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Canola, Safflower, Lard, beef shortening, Crisco, even Castor Oil in the Pharmacy and Flax Seed. Except lye, where you buy Roebic Heavy Duty Crystals, 100% pure lye, you can make a great soap. No need to send off for oils when first starting, go to Wally World and Lowe's, and make yourself some soap! Paul....:smiley2:

  8. $31.00 for 7 gallons, I'll take 100 and resell! I'd even beat CF's price! Ha Ha! Paul....
  9. I third nominate Columbus Foods! Mike is great and shipping is super fast! I bought my first gallon last week. I ordered one day and got the shipment of 4 oils on the 3rd day after I turned in the order! The order arrived before my credit card was charged! Great looking BO too, gotta make soap this weekend with it! After over 2 years of making soap, just now trying BO is a shame! Paul....
  10. After over 2 years making soap using CO and PKO in my recipes, I got my first gallon of Babassu Oil (BO) from Cf this week! Have not tried it yet, but can't wait! Paul....
  11. Thanks guys! I've been searching for almost 2 years now for a CP Vanilla stabilizer. I must order me some of this! Appreciate the info! Paul....:smiley2:
  12. Great! I won't do that very often, just a "Freudian" slip! Glad I got you to laugh tonight Grumy! Paul....:smiley2:
  13. Sorry Grumpy, did not mean anything by that, perhaps you are not informed about the transactions and discussions I have with my customers. If you did know, maybe you would understand. I hope I do not upset you with this post as that is not my intention. Paul
  14. Like Jeff said, should not be an issue! If you used the TOG 12/24 Bar Slab Divider Mold I sold you, leave them as long as you like:yay:not a problem at all. Paul....
  15. Thanks Jeff, that was very nice of you!:smiley2: As far as HDPE molds, I would use Jeff over anyone else out there! Wood---HDPE both have their advantages depending on what you are looking to do with your mold. Paul....
  16. Thanks Michelle, another great repeat customer! Hey, your newest order is headed your way tomorrow! Just letting you know. Paul....
  17. Thanks CareBear!:smiley2: You are another repeat customer! I love making soapers happy! It makes me happy! :) Deb, keep your eye on it! When you need one......"just blink!"LOL Thanks guys for your vote of confidence on my heavy duty wood molds! My new saying is: "Wood Is Good!"
  18. Many feel warming up your FO's or EO's by first mixing them with your oils once in the soap pot before adding your lye solution decreases the chance of acceleration. I do think this is true, but in my opinion, it also weakens the FO's or EO's a bit going through the onset of saponification at first combining oils/lye solution. You might have to add a bit more FO or EO doing it this way. Paul....
  19. Thanks to my new customers and to Kymber as she has bought from me several times! I really try to build a great product that will last a long time for a great price for you guys! Thanks all for your raves about my soap making tools! Paul....:smiley2:
  20. Thank you so much! I must try her FO's. They are very reasonably priced and if they stick well in CP and stay true......I'm a happy soap maker indeed! Paul....:smiley2:
  21. Question, is this "Berts" the supplier on E-Bay? Paul....
  22. Have you tried one yet? Paul...
  23. Congrats my friend!:smiley2: Once hooked, it's hard to go back. Soap on my friend! Paul...
  24. Cool! I don't even try to bevel mine since they are so hard. Yes, your texture is perfect! as you use the bar in the shower, after the first time, it will get very smooth, and look kinda like a piece of granite. So very glad you like everything so well! Keep on soapin! Paul....
  25. Nice job! Those look great. Hope the TOG Mold worked well for you!! Salt is a chemical, a natural one. Saponification is: the base (lye) turning the alkali (oils) into a form of salt. Adding salt will speed up the reaction. I am not a chemist, but salt speeds up the process. That is why salt bars generate more heat. That is why they are ready to use after 24 hours. Adding sodium lactate makes a harder bar, adding salt in a little bit to your CP does the same, adding up to 50% does a whole lot more. Paul.....
