  1. and I've bought Hydrolized Silk Protein from todiefor as well, for the same purpose, but it is water soluable, and I didn't want to mess with water in the formula. besides the clyco/dime, I also add alkyl esters, phenyl trimethicone and cyclo.
  2. also there are different brands out there of this stuff... It can actually just be one ingredient I know todiefor has some... the one I use for my hair serums and sprays is from lotioncrafter... their lotioncrafter, their LC1401DC
  3. I am gonna "try" (just like I "try" to work out everyday:rolleyes2) to get some fundraiser packets ready to take up to a few schools... I don't see how that's gonna work when my printer is acting up!
  4. -lack of money, especially now, that we have began house hunting. -we live with our inlaws, so lack of space, lack of privacy - they seem to get bothered on the days I am pouring or making lotions. -I stay at home with my 1yr old, who requires ALOT of time and refuses to let me work for even 5 minutes (she is the main reason I cannot start soap) -Houston, is a big city, with $ stores in every corner, people are cheap. people are so "brand" conscious at the same time. There's a gazillion people sellin, mary kate, avon, HI... I'm little "nobody" - plus, I get really discouraged. I did terrible at craft shows last year, people were buying other candles, with crappy labels just thrown on there and crappy set ups with simaler pricing as mine. We've overdrafted trying to make this work, I stayed up researching and testing... crying and overworking myself...
  5. and I'll find a use for the Vodka! ( just wanted to add: they are over against my will!)
  6. ohhh michi... must I take you by the hand and explain everything to you... maybe its for those that don't want to rub and message and touch, maybe they just want to spray and lick.... cause they are scared it might taste like fish.... no I don't know, sadly, my kinky days are over!
  7. I hate lavender, so I don't offer it, I refuse to smell that crap! and I hate BCS mulberry, just tooooooo strong. and gardenia, :lipsrseal yuuuuucccckkkk! oohh, and when I tried to make citronella candles! I just about puked! I decided I rather buy citronella candles than make them.
  8. quote: "Solubilizer It's here! This product allows fragrances and essential oils to mix with water based formulations. Use 1 part fragrance to 4 part solubilizer" I have no experience using a solubilizer. i am not sure if it would work with cyclo, cyclo is not a water base. It could probably work with the water and witch hazel, but you would need a preservative. If you do not have a solubilizer you would need the poly20. The poly helps the FO and water mix, it does not preserve. (also, I know RObin knows the answer to this, I can't find it at the time, so much witch hazel/alcohol is self preserving and you wouldn't need a presv.) Like heirloomoriginals stated, not all FO's mix well with cyclo. I use color bottles because of that. Some FO's sink to the bottom and turn brown, but you can't see through the colored bottle. YOu can also try using another supplier's sweet pea, my sweet pea mixes well with the cyclo. I guess it would also depend on the cyclo too. HTH
  9. I have a hard time keepng my scrubs emulsified. I add the e-wax as well as emulsifying conditioner to mine, but they still seperate. I think I am giving up on them, especially since I can't sell the darn things. In the winter they do fine, but our summers are so hot, that I think it melts the butters I use, even the harder butters like cocoa. But yes, they are still oily.
  10. i don't know why, bud I get SEVERE fingernaling in the summer...
  11. oh goodness.... the woman ask for help (her other thread)... people jumped all over her butt and told her to be more specific... she turns around and asks a more specific question and people are still complaining... well as we all know, we can't please everyone. And Lisa, as you already know, there will always be them people out there ready to say something negative. I try to not ask too many questions, I got tired of threads like this (happening to me)... I rather find those helpful people on this board and pm them with any questions you may have.. and if you ever have a question feel free to pm., and MAYBE i'll be able to help you. As far as WSP, yes their shipping might be a little high... just by a few dollars compared to other suppliers, but they do have great stuff, such as the crystal cleal soap bases, and their lotion bases and great variety of packaging containers.
  12. I don't think she is coming off with an attitude... c'mon... she asked about suppliers, not to be told to get a paypal, debit account, maybe she's feeling a little frustrated, I know I would be. sorry I can't help
  13. oh, I agree about those glass heart dishes. I hate does things, I don't care what you throw on top of them or what color...
  14. they have some slippers... http://www.essentialsbycatalina.com/shop/display_products_accessories.html
  15. hammer it into pieces... or if no hammer around,i just drop the slab outside on the concrete steps...
  16. isn't nice that we can "borrow" ideas from each other! and Michi, the hearts are from Dollar Tree. Don't go crazy looking for them at Target:laugh2:. And I am still kicking myself over the poofs!
  17. Remember I asked for tips on how to package the soap petals (wedding favors)... well this is what I came up with. Clear little hearts, found them at the dollar tree, a pck of 3 for a buck! and then I made these little duckies for a baby shower (another borrowed idea from here!) plus she took some of these that I had on hand (I borrowed the idea of dipping the sponges in soap from someone on this board... thanks you!... I don't remember her name) I had found these little sponges with the animals on them at Target at the $ section for .25cents... and dummy me only got four - and she took all four of them!
  18. I meant to say "thanks girls!" The plates seem like a neat idea, just too many plates to collect and she might want a consistant look... so I think I might stay with clear boxes. She's already going to have votives (in the holders) on her table, so I wouldn't want to put the petals in votive cups... thanks ladies!
  19. so I offered to make soap petals as a wedding favor, but I don't know in what way to package them. I am thinking clear little boxes 3x3x3... seems kinda boring, though I am thinking of adding a big bow or flower on the top. Any input? TIA!
  20. I especially hate it when The Body Shop people are there! as well as other big candle companies, or other people who buy their candles wholesale and resell them claiming that they made them.
  21. it could be like the Dove commercial.. a thread of all types of bellies! And about the soap... I have no clue... sorry
  22. thanks guys! and yes, those are bows that i made myself. I wish I was more crafty cause I think those bows suck. I was so clueless, that I added little diamonds to the sachets to add "more" to them. Here is a closer pic of them: and these are the votives ( i hate making votives): and body sprays, I think these are neat, but nothing to ohh ahh about, but different indeed:
  23. I think she means the shadow on the tins, makes them look dark on top. THey look great, though!
  24. and I also happened to be the one who made her bridal shower favors!
