  1. i bought an extra pack of the circle inserts and drilled a small hole in the center. after pouring i put the wick thru the hole placing the insert on the jar... then i screw the ring on to keep that centered and attach a clothespin to the wick to keep it taught...
  2. the tip does get real hot... so i keep an old medium sixed pizza pan under it
  3. Hello all... i found one of my answers in the archives, and that was to use food coloring and not my candle colors... these questions remain... can i use my candle fo's? and if so i've see recipes using 2tsps or 1tbs... is one better than the other? does anyone know if the smelly jelly jars Natures Garden sells have lids that screw on or do they just sit on? and lastly (i hope) if i use 8oz jelly jars is there somewhere i can purchase lid inserts that have the daisy cutouts? thanks in advance terry
  4. i dont have a large quantity, just 16 molds... but wife wont let me near the new appliances with my wax so i just put a paper towel under a few at a time and hit them with my heat gun... then use a couple of knapkins to wipe them out...
  5. i have to agree with Jcandleattic... I picked up the 4761 when my local supplier was out of the 4794... not only did i get jump lines but i had a harder time getting them out of the molds... sometimes leaving a chunk out of the bottom of the votive... and i didnt like the way the top looked and wanted to do a 2nd pour anyways...
  6. the presto kittchen kettle at walmart is great... a lot of the people here use them... i just use a ladle to get the wax from the kettle to my pour pot but some have added a spigot to pour from... there's instructions on here for how to add a spigot.
  7. just so you know, the FP~185 is the flash point temperature at which that fragrance oil by itself will begin to burn if it comes in contact with a heat source. once mixed into the wax you're good to go...
  8. When I'm ready to pour I use my heat gun and blast the pour pot with it... if I hit it just right the wax will cool down to the temps needed to add the fo and color and be just right for pouring...
  9. i'll pour all the scents first for say my jars, and then all the scents for votives... i'm afraid if i go to pour the scents for both at the same time i just might mistake the votive kitchen kettle for the jar one...
  10. i have 2 presto pots... couldnt wait either to use them so i didnt put any valves in and now i dont miss them... i use a ladle to put the wax in the pour pot where i mix my colors and scents and pour from there...
  11. if you dont use a uv inhibitor try getting into the shade... my first time out i didnt think of that and some colors faded...
  12. i also tried the 4761 with the same results... it also gave me some problems getting the votives out of the molds and the pins out... didnt even look good when i tried to top off with a 2nd pour... so if i had to do a 2nd pour i figured might as well keep with the one that worked best all around...
  13. Dont know if this will help much, but i use 8oz quilted jelly jars with J223... i use a cd8 wick and and havent noticed any hangup...
  14. i dont know what type of container you're using... for my pint jars i have one of those create-a-card type programs... one of the other things it does is labels... i picked one of the templates that closely matches the top seal for the jars... never got around to buying regular sticky labels... i just print on regular paper, cut out and glue to tup of the seal before screwing on the ring...
  15. I don't know about the apothecary jars, but I usually get my 8 oz jelly jars from super walmart...
  16. also check the inside bottom of the pot... i seem to remember a thread some time ago about this... seems some pots have a raised center and some are flat... the problem with the ones with a raised center was that the was the wax wasnt covering the raised portion and it was overheating and cracked...
  17. All i did with mine was wipe it out with a wet towel and then dry it... dont think i'll be installing a spigot like some of the people here have... i bought a teflon ladle for getting the melted wax out... i think its rated for about 400 degrees so the hot wax doesnt hurt it and i can give it a short blast from my heat gun to clean it off...
  18. I pick up my wax from WSP also... they told me it was just a name change to put the numbers in line for their inventory... formulas are the same...
  19. The brand name for the ones at Walmart is Sterilite... they are made of polypropylene so it won't suck the scent out... besides the shoe box type they have a 3 drawer unit that votives fit in perfectly... they fit right into a 13 gallon kitchen trash bag so when i do a craft show they transport real easily...
  20. I was working out of the kitchen till we moved and now i'm in the basement... a lot more work area thats for sure and my wife doesnt scream about the mess as often... temp isnt too different since the area i'm in was finished off...
  21. I have one fo from peaks that has turned out to be a real bummer (not a bad average though for 50+ scents). It's orange. Any suggestion what I can mix with it to liven it up. I mean, I still have the 10 votives I poured last year... lol My wife won't even burn them... TIA terry
  22. use the same recipe here too... 36-24-24z on the wicks... i add the fo and color between 185 and 190... pour at 170 to 175 and do the repourbetween 185 and 190...
  23. I seem to remember someone talking about this some time back... the problem was some of the warmers being used was for the liquids put out for them... these inside bottom of these warmers had a slightly raised middle... if you put a tart in it that middle part wasn't covered with liquid when heating up and the bottom cracked... terry
