  1. I use wooden paint stirrers... I keep one for my votives and one for container wax... they wipe off quick ith a paper towel when you're done mixing or with a quick blast from a heat gun if you don't wipe it right away... I've only gone thru 3 of tem in the last 5 years...
  2. I have 2 presto pots and use a ladle with each... I imagine the spigotsmight be useful for higher volume users
  3. i just hit it with my heat gun and wipe with paper towels... if there is a lingeringscent i just hit it again with the heat gun...
  4. one vacation on my way back home i stopped in a craft shop and saw some jars of candles with a black plastic ring with cross bars and in the center was a clip of some sort holding the wick... cant remember the name of the candle company but i wrote it down and called them about it, wanted to know where i could get them... they told me the same thing, they designed it and produced it for their candles... wouldnt sell me any... lol their cost was cheap eough they could just leave hem in the jars.
  5. I've been thinking about adding these for the spring shows, but was wondering what kind of cookie cutter shapes you use when it isnt for a particular seaqson or holiday... TIA terry
  6. My wife's going to have my head anyways, but i need to know how to get wax up from the carpet... i knocked over my pour pot... luckily all that was left in it was the last of my second pour for my containers... any and all help will be greatly appreciated... TIA
  7. I started with a votive starter kit from peaks... i found out afterwards that i have a couple of local companies i could have gone to, but after trying some of their scents i found peaks to be a lot better...
  8. like fredron said just turn the votive over and push the pin against a hard surface... although i usually do mine when they have cooled and dont have any problems getting them out... also, dont worry about that little gap around the wick... as soon as it is lit that hole will fill in...
  9. i usually put it in a 13 gallon garbage bag the hammering it... have also put it in freezer for a few minutes too sometimes to make it a little more brittle...
  10. Absolutely nothing!!! My wife and I are off saturday morning to Chincoteague Island Virginia for a much needed vacation... First one in 6 years and going back to where we honeymooned 6 years ago... Except for the candles we're taking with us for our use I dont want to think candles... lol or work for that matter...
  11. I started with a votive kit from Peaks and would highly recommend them... Their fo's are great...
  12. Hi and welcome Patty. Sometimes I think wet spots are a neccessary evil to container candles. One day they arent there and the next day they are. I used to worry about them on my pint jars but i think i worried more than my customers. Now when I do 4oz or 8oz jelly jars i get the quilted ones and you hardly can see any spots...
  13. I have two, also without any spigots... although i still keep an old cookie sheet under them cause i use a ladle to transfer to a pour pot and will still drip some...
  14. i wipe it down first also with paper towels... but then i blast it with my heat gun before my next pour from the presto pot...
  15. i'll second peaks... i started with their votive kit...
  16. i use 4794... its not a single pour wax though... tried a single pour once and didnt like it...
  17. lets see, here goes... lol on the bottom of the drawers you'll find a small triangle with a 5 inside of it. there is also a p-p under it... this is polypropalene... polyethalene, which is what a lot of the zip lock bags are will suck the scent out of the candle. i dont mix the scents in the drawers... i have had some mixed together for a short period with no problem but usually i dont mix them... i dont line the bottom of the drawers with anything... at the craft shows i just keep them in the drawers... i have 12 units and they stack together real well... i'll keep a couple of the drawers of the stronger scents open so people walking by can smell them. no one ever seemed to be too shy to open the drawers to sniff... my sign on top of the cases not only list my prices but also states that sniffs are free... i work out of a spare room in my apartment so the temp is normally around 70... the only rotating i need to do is to take out the seasonal scents from time to time...
  18. I use a 3 drawer container from walmart. its made by Sterilite and made with poly-p so it won't suck the scent from the candles. I use them also for the craft shows i do and they fit right into a 13 gallon kitchen garbage bag for easy carrying. I had a scent one spring that didnt sell to good and the following year they were just as fragrant.
  19. peaks votive kit is how i started and imo you cant go wrong... their scents are great... one thing you might want to get with them is wick pins for the molds... it makes wicking the votives a heck of a lot easier... i also eventually went into the liquid dyes...
  20. i also use the presto pot without the valve addition... i use one for my votives and another for my container wax... way better than the double boiler...
  21. i also use the presto pots just the way they are... i use a ladle to get the wax to my pour pot to mix and pour... and since my pots sit at the back of my tables i would have to build a shelf to raise them up and i dont have that big of a production to need that...
  22. i also use a hot glue gun to stick my wicks in... make sure though that you use the high temp glue sticks... and a knife or fork under the tab when the candle is burned down will pop that tab out...
  23. that's definately too much fo... i read that j50 has an 8% fo load... thats about 1 1/4 oz to a pound of wax... as far as the wet spots, it is usually unavoidable, but if you're using the clear glass jelly jars try changing to the quilted ones... you wont see the spots as much...
  24. i dont know if they are national, but Discount Drug Mart here carries the golden harvest jars...
