  1. You really can use any fragrance oil on the air freshener blanks from Oak Court. I add the oil by drops at a time and allow to spread through the piece. It really does not take much at all. However you will have to test yours to come up with the answer to your question. Once the oil has spread throughout the freshener, I package in polypro bags. I don't use the regular zip lock bags due to the penetration/permeation of oil/scent through the bag. If you can smell the scent, then it is evaporating off of your freshener a some rate. I have had customers tell me their air fresheners last for a long time. What is a long time? Don't know. If the environment is hotter, the scent will evaporate off faster. You can, however, always refresh your air freshener with drops of oil. If you want to color your air freshener blanks, you can use the bath and body colors....you can also use food coloring. Any water base coloring works well. You will have to test/experiment to find what works best for you. Brenda also has several other ways to design her blanks listed on her website. To attend to you customers request...an air freshener to match his candle fragrance, sure! You may even add another item to your inventory! Good luck and Happy New Year!
  2. Yes, do it. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Just finished another show (and the last one for the season YEEHAW!!) and heard lots of remarks,"Hey these can be used with the Scentsy warmers!" Oh Yeah, baby!! Good luck at your show!!
  3. FINALLY!! Glad you have a website now....Etsy just a PITA for me!! Personally, I like the black background and had one for many years! I feel you can have a great website, just gotta be careful with colors. I LOVE purple, but it is a bit hard to read on the black. And now....where is that Links page?! When you get one up, I'd love to share links with you! Keep up the great work.....and congrats!! :yay:
  4. What's even better is that I don't even have to try....just comes naturally! LOL:laugh2:
  5. I blended cinnamon and rose and it wasn't bad. I don't care for rose and it really blended well and took off some of the potent rose smell.
  6. That's the name of the game...making money. I have seen many trends come and go. Just have faith in your product. It will out last the fads.... And good for you...getting your fee back. Wow! That is almost unheard of!! Cha Ching!!
  7. Not all juried shows are that way. You are lucky. I have done many "juried" shows....that cost a bit more....and have seen resale items there.
  8. I have been told about SquareUp before....with raving reviews. But I don't have one of those phones. Honestly, I like to know that the card clears BEFORE I give the customers their merchandise. I am sticking with my knucklebuster and cell phone. If the customer wants the product, he/she can wait 5 minutes!
  9. See....so now just do a little promotion. And you can do it quietly. I post a sign they can read. I hear it all the time, many times over and over at each show, "Hey, look, you can use these melts with Scentsy." Then lots and lots of sales. Once again....thanks Scentsy!
  10. As I mentioned in anther recent posting about Scentsy....don't let them or their sales people make you mad. The people who are selling them are like sheep, regurgitating the sales pitch(es) pounded into their heads. And most of our customers will believe anything...right? So let Scentsy's million/billion dollar marketing work for you. I made a large sign and posted it by my melts. The sign basically states that my melts will work in Scentsy warmers. My melt sales have easily tripled, if not quadrupled this year! Thanks Scentsy!!
  11. So you actually get an authorization number (ie, know the customer's card is good and total clears) before you give the customer the product? And before you get home to enter the info into computer? When I read about it, it seemed that it just stored the cc info....but did not get authorization until it was attached to your computer....
  12. So does the card reader get an actual auth number...ie the card is actually charged...or do you have to wait to process card until you get to computer access?
  13. You should be okay. Wax shrinks when it gets cold, so a little "rattling" as mentioned above may be noticeable. It is when it's too hot you should worry. That is when wax expands--and can do so over the jar. Happy sales!!
  14. Good for you! What the "Scentsy" sellers are saying (that only their "bricks" will work in their warmers) is a marketing ploy. How many times have you heard that something is the "best", "the only one", etc etc. So rather than bad-mouth a competitor, work off of it. We all know they use the clamshell molds, just slightly changed to their specifications. And we all know pretty much wax is wax and heat is heat. I have made a rather large colored sign I post with all of my melts. And they are the scalloped shaped ones, not clamshell. My sales of my melts has over tripled this year, at least! So keep on marketing Scentsy!! LOL
  15. I get very nauseous around soy wax or other soy products. Even just the smell from it in an empty container sets me off.
  16. I have not had a problem with the throw of our beads. Of course, they are not designed to be used to scent an entire room or large space. They work fabulous in small areas, cars, lockers, closets, etc. After we make our beads and they dry, we store in airtight glass containers. We have had the fragrance last at least two years stored this way. When I melt mine, I like the rough texture. I melt on low heat and for a short time. The hotter the heat and longer the cook time, of course you will lose fragrance. And you can always add fragrance to the beads once the fragrance evaporates off or lessens. HTH
  17. They are all I use and I have never had a problem with them. I just ordered from them a couple of weeks ago and got right to somebody....placed my order and had it in good time. I call them on the phone. The numbers I have on the invoice are: 866-3WICKIT and 973-249-2970 I call during the day, keeping in mind the time difference. I have left messages in the past and they have gotten back to me. Good luck!
  18. P.s. When this happens, let the marketing of Scentsy work for you. Post a large, clear and visible sign letting the customers know that your melts work on Scentsy warmers. Guaranteed you have a wider variety of fragrances than they can offer. Just a suggestion. Works great for me. My melts have tripled in sales! Thanks Scentsy!! LOL
  19. Good luck. This has been happening at "craft" shows for years....and yes, juried, too. It is sad, but promoters are interested more in money than in running quality shows. Yes, it is very hard to "stick to your rules" and get quality vendors. I know...as I have promoted many shows over the years. It is much easier to just let anything in.....and our craft shows are suffering. Sad but true. You cannot change the promoters and what they do. You can, however, let them know your thoughts PROFESSIONALLY of course. And you can choose NOT to do the show again. I have seen some really kick-a$$ shows die because of this. Eventually the show will weaken and possibly die....as the customers slowly start to figure out that they are not getting quality crafts, as advertised. Promoters need to realize that they do not make the show, but the vendors do. But most don't. Sad but true.
  20. Don't know about their fragrances, but I use their pigment in candle carving and they are very good. I only get my color from them. And I have had good luck with their customer service as well. JMHO
  21. Fragrance oils can actually last many years, depending on storage and type of oil. Honesty is always best. If this person wants to buy your oils, be honest with her. Let her decide if she wants them. I personally usually don't buy oils off classies anymore due to being "burned" too many times. If an oil is going bad, one can tell by the smell. When I buy out businesses, I always go personally to look at the product and smell it. As for making candles with "old" oils, I have done it with no problems....burns great, smells great, satisfied customers. But you have to use your judgement.
